Thriller & Suspense Challenge 2010!
I was asked by J. Kaye (of J. Kaye's Book Blog) if I would take over and host the Thriller & Suspense Challenge. Well, I love this genre so I jumped at the chance. The rules are basically the same but there is a new button! I hope you will join me in the Thriller & Suspense Reading Challenge 2010!
**UPDATE**
• Courtesy of publisher SIMON & SCHUSTER UK, all participants of this challenge will receive a free ARC of either Random by Craig Robertson or Venom by Joan Brady to start you off on your challenge! Once you have signed up for the challenge, email me with your full name, address, blog URL (if you have one) and your entry number from the participants list below (so I can verify) and I will pass on your details. This is INTERNATIONAL!
I am trying to contact participants who have already signed up - to help me out please email me as there are a lot of people to get though ;) Also some of you don't have a blog or I can't find an email so please contact me!

Timeline: 01 Jan 2010 - 31 Dec 2010
Rules: To read TWELVE (12) thrillers in 2010
Details:
• You don't have to select your books ahead of time, you can just add them as you go. Also if you do list them upfront then you can change them, nothing is set in stone! The books you choose can crossover into other challenges you have on the go.
• If you decide to participate in this challenge please use the links I have set up below with the buttons to post on your sidebar, this way others can find their way back to this post and join in the fun.
Now, there are many different sub-genres of thriller, so don't go thinking that you don't actually read these kinds of books because I bet you read more than you think. As I mentioned above you can choose from the numerous sub-genres, from cosy mysteries such as Agatha Christie to the more hard-boiled kind like V I Warshawski by Sara Paretsky, or even supernatural/paranormal suspense written by the likes of Laurell K Hamilton (Anita Blake) and Kelley Armstrong. So, there you have it, this challenge will have something for everyone I'm sure! :)
To help you figure out and decide, J. Kaye has kindly given me the sub-genre list that she compiled when hosting the challenge. To view this list go HERE.
If you have trouble signing below, please email me the name you want posted below with your blog's link HERE
NB: When signing up for Mr Linky, please add the direct link to your post where your Thriller & Suspense books will be listed as it makes it much easier for others to find. If you don't have a blog, leave the URL blank. Thanks!

Ya know the more I think about this the more I'm convinced...I'm in :D
Just signed up and getting my 2010 TBR book list ready. I'll pick my books next week. I'm also following you on Twitter.
I'm a new blogger, this would be my first challenge, its what I enjoy reading and I can committ to it.
I look forward to it.
Now I have to figure out how to post it etc.
I'm in! This is fun!
totally love the icon. I'll come back after first of the year. Need time to gather thoughts on this one. Holidays are hectic.
I'm in. Love the button!
Am so excited...going to enjoy this challenge since this is my favorite genre of books and starts after the hustle & bustle of the holidays. Since I hibernate(lol) in the winter, this is going to be wonderful...curled up in my afghan, a cup of tea and a mystery/suspense...definitely looking forward to this challenge. Thank you for hosting.
Sorry about my mixup before, fixed my link! :)
I'm in. I've got my link but don't have my books selected yet. I will before I start.
Love this genre.....have signed up and posted about the challenge.
Great button!
Sounds great - I loved the 2008-2009 version, so I'm signing up. Haven't got a complete list yet, but I've put up a post about the challenge. Thanks for hosting!
I just posted about the challenge:
http://suitesweet.blogspot.com/2009/11/reading-challenge-thriller-suspense.html
This is a reading challenge I couldn't resist! I've signed up and can't wait for 2010 to begin so I can start reading some thriller/suspense/mystery books that have been on my TBR like forever...
Oh and I love the button!!
Thrillers are so much fun. Love the subgenre list.
Sounds like fun. I read so much of this stuff anyway :)
Hi, we received your comment at A novel Challenge.
We didn't join your challenge but we post about all book challenges that we find out about as a public service to bloggers looking for challenges.
If you decide to host other challenges, you are welcome to let us know about them and we will poost about them.
Darn me and my over-eagerness. I said I wasn't going to sign up for a lot of challenges in 2010. But I keep finding amazing ones like this one. You guys are killing me.
sounds like fun to me - hopefully most of the challenges I sign up for have a lott of cross overs
I'm in for next year!! Fantastic Button. Looking forward to reading everyone's reviews.
I am in, sure love serial killers
Thanks everyone for joining!! This should be fun - I can't wait to see all the books you choose and read your reviews (if you post them). xoxo
I've been gearing up :) I'm so excited.
Hi!
I did this this year over at J. Kaye's place. Glad to see someone took it over, my favorite read is suspense and mysteries. I have posted about this and linked back to you at my place, A View of My Life. Have a great day!

A View of My Life
I've been meaning to sign up ever since I saw this. Looking forward to it and will blog about it before the beginning of the year. For now will add my name to mr. linky with url pointing to my 2010 challenge post.
I have a question. I am putting buttons/pictures of my 2010 challenges in my sidebar but the links go back to my original challenge post so people can see all my reviews, etc. In my original post I have the link back to how to sign up to join the challenge. Is this okay to do or do I have to have the sidebar button link back to this page?
Hi Rebecca - I would prefer if my button linked back to the challenge post. If you want to link to your own challenge page you can put separate link underneath button. Thanks! :)
I'm in. Looking forward to the challenge.
Signed up and will start next year as the challenge requires, but I did link with the last thriller/mystery I reviewed this year.
hohoi I totally signep up!! I read more than 12 mystery&thriller books in a year.
But I am a bit confuse here...the date was set to January 1...but how come people are already giving link???
I'll put the button once I use PC not Cellphone.
Thanks for hosting this challenge!
Hi Novroz,
Thanks for wanting to join the Thriller & Suspense reading challenge. Well, when you want to join a challenge you write up a post about it then link that particular URL to Mr Linky. That way everyone else who has joined the challenge can check out how everyone else is doing and give support. I hope that answers your question and you will come and sign up!
Thx BCC :)
I have already written my introduction and also give my 1st review (tho it isn't January yet)
This is right up my alley and my first challenge ever....hopefully I can figure out all the links for my blog. Thanks so much for hosting!!
I'm signed up :)
I love all kinds of mysteries , so this s a no brainer.

I was just saying I need to read more books in 2010 than this year. This is perfect and has come at the right time, thanks for holding it.
My blog about the challenge is here
http://newtowritinggirl.wordpress.com/2009/12/18/thriller-and-suspense-reading-challenge-2010/ I'll add the bedge as soon as I work out how to.
I signed up for this challenge as I read so much of this stuff anyways. I have never done one of these and it looks like fun. I already have my first book picked out, it's going to be difficult to wait until January 1st.
Thanks for hosting! I'm a thriller newbie, so I compiled some best-of lists and other reading lists over at my blog if anyone needs help with where to start--I know I will!
Can't wait!
I've officially signed up, and looking forward to it!
Just a question for you, as I am a newcomer to the blog scene, and don't actually have a blog ready to go. Can I post my reviews on Library Thing or somewhere else like that until I actually become a blogger of my own? My kids are probably rolling their eyes right now because I am asking this question.
I wasn't too sure about this one until I read the list of sub-genres. I'm giving it a try!
I'm in. I just blogged about the challenge and posted the button on my blog too. Thanks for hosting this challenge--my favorite book genre.
Count me in! Haven't been reading much mystery/thrillers lately, so this is going to be fun. Will put up a post real soon.
Have signed up. Thanks for hosting this one. Please bear with me - I am new to this blogging business!
Can't wait to get started, which I will be doing in just a few minutes. I hope it's ok that we crossover into other challenges.
Thanks for hosting this. I'm hoping to read more romantic suspense and mysteries this year so this will help me.

Hi I was no. 7 that joined but just realised it was the wrong link, my apologies, still new to blogging. I rejoined so you can delete my first one.
Happy New Year
Carolyn, I'm getting ready to do my first review for the challenge but can't find a post to link the review to. I was just curious to know if you will be doing on.
I'm excited to participate in this challenge BCC. I hope to have loads of fun reading authors who get a bit neglected by me *eek*
I am so in - just need to make a post. Do audios count as well?
Hi Sheila - Yep audio books count! :)
I haven't read suspense thrillers recently so this should be fun.
Looking forward to the challenge. I'll post it on my blog tomorrow
http://www.masoncanyon.blogspot.com
Thanks for hosting it.
I saw your update--yay! That's very nice of them! Is that giveaway open internationally?
Hi Jennifer - sorry I should have put that, yes it is open worldwide! :)
Sorry can you delete my previous entry on Mr. Linky, I messed up on the URL part. I'll enter again.
This is right up my alley! I'm currently reading Rain Gods by James Lee Burke, which fits into this challenge. Happy reading everyone :)
Help! I've been hunting and can't find your email anywhere to send you my full name and address for this challenge.
Hi Jan - there's a contact button on my navigation bar :)
That Contact button doesn't work for me, not sure why.
Thanks!
Hi...My first ever book challenge yay!...let me know if I do something wrong! Found you via Cat at Tell Me a Story.
Yay! Thanks for your help. I signed up, this looks fun
Could have sworn I'd done Mr. Linky before, but I don't see it on the list, so I linked again. I've already done two, and have about a gazillion more planned for 2010. Thanks so much for this fun challenge.
Just saw the update :) That's really great...
I've signed up, but I've linked to my blog instead of the post. I'm not sure how to fix this, but here is the post link just in case:
http://ihatebooks.wordpress.com/2010/01/09/my-first-two-book-challenges-ever/
Can't find your e-mail address to send you my mailing address. Would you please post it? Thanks.
Never mind. Found your e-mail. Thanks.
I just saw the update! How amazing is that?! Anyways, I e-mailed you my info :)
This looks like a fun challenge so I'm in as well.
I hope it's ok if my blog is in Portuguese. I'll do the post relating to the challenge in both languages, so I guess it won't be a problem.
Ohhhh! I wasn't going to sign up for any challenges this year, but am going to have to now! This sounds and looks like such a fun one and one of my favorite genres!! So, I am in! By the way - I LOVE the button!!!!
Hi, Could you please remove me as entrant #114 (Geri) I signed up wrong but have hopefully corrected the error. Have signed up again with my blog url.
Thanks!!
Cute button - thanks. My email is rae_sunshine4(at)yahoo.com
I'm no. 26 and 141. Sorry I forgot and signed up twice.
My email: harvee44 at yahoo dot com
I accidentally stumbled upon this but I would love to participate. I am not sure though that I got everything exactly right. :) So, I'll just go step by step and ask for help if I don't understand something.
oooohhhhh I love this idea!!! Count me in. I'm #144 on the list. I have your botton on my blog and I LOVE IT!! I hope the books I read count. They always keep me in suspense and thrilled. :)
Hi! Just signed up for this. I'm so excited - I have just started my own blog and this is my first challenge. Will now go and make a post about it.
This is one of the few challenges I actually completed last year...looking forward to 12 more thrills this year!
Very much looking forward to this challenge :)
I am #118 so I thought I'd finally get around to sharing the books I have picked so far...
Right now I am reading 'Moonlight Falls' by Vincent Zandri. And my February pick is Elizabeth Kostova's 'The Swan Thieves.' March with be 'Dot Dead' by Keith Raffel.
You can keep up with my monthly reading in the righthand column of my blog. Stop by and share with me what you are reading, regardless of that day's post topic!

SouthernCityMysteries
Just got Venom in the mail! Thanks so much. I'll probably read this for February, since I read my one thriller for January!
Hi, thanks for the comment on my blog and for the compliment about my english! :)
I write, read and talk in english everyday as I work for UK, so my blog is in portuguese so I won't forget my own language :oP
I had to sign up! This is the perfect challenge for me :)
Sent you an e-mail as well!
Hey, I just got "Random" by Craig Robertson :) I can't wait to read it!
I actually wanted this one, not "Venom" so thanks to you & Simon & Schuster ;) Thank you!
I just got "Venom" as well! Excited to read it - maybe it will be one of my monthly challenge reads?
Michele
SouthernCityMysteries
I received Venom in the post today, it looks like a gripping read, thank you, it was a great suprise in the mailbox as I'd completely forgotten about the giveaway after I signed up!
I just signed up - I love a good mystery!
How fun! Thrillers are my favorite type of book anyway. Twelve should be pretty easy (since I've already read two this week!)
I've put my first review for the Thriller & Suspense Challenge up on my blog. I've started with The Flight of the Falcon by Daphne du Maurier.
Sorry I meant to tick the email box below before I published the earlier comment.
Hi! I can't find ur email add but have sent you my details via google friend connect. Hope you get it.
lol i thought i signed up for this ages ago hehe
I'm officially entrant 160 now lol
my email is wings.reviews@gmail.com
Due to a glitch with blogger, I need you to delete #163 Terri@TheLatestThing. Thanks.
I wanted to sign up, but accidentally posted the wrong link and signed up twice, could you please delete no. 167? Many thanks!
This will be so fun and easy, since this is what I read 90% of the time. Thanks!
I just signed up -- looks like a lot of fun...
http://expatbookworm.byethost14.com/2010/02/10/reading-challenges-for-2010/
Signed up and grabbed the button - thanks, looks like fun.
Susan
Received Random by Craig Robertson. Thanks for taking the trouble to post it all the way to Malaysia! :)
Just signed up! You are officially the first person to ever get me to sign up for any sort of challange, feel special. ;)
J.Rabbit
Just wondering if you still need addresses from participants. If so, where do I send the info? Thanks
The books from Simon & Schuster are for all participants whenever they sign up. Use the 'Contact' button om my navi-bar to send address etc. Thanks!
Looks like I forgot to actually technically sign up, even though I've already linked a couple of reviews.
Just finished my February Challenge book- 'The Swan Thieves' by Elizabeth Kostova...I thought it would be more of a suspense book than it was, given her first novel, The Historian. So I've also read a few more to back it up-- The Italian Secretary by Caleb Carr and Dot.Dead by Keith Raffel. I think I'm covered!
Michele
SouthernCityMysteries
I'm all signed up and can't wait to get caught up with you all! I don't have a blog, but I may just have to start one to join in all the fun! Happy reading, everyone!!
I signed up. Will leave a post today. I am new to blogging and reading challenges but am excited to get started.
I'm all signed up and have already started the challenge! Am new to all this, but it's great so far!
Signed up and looking forward to getting started. A little late, but better late than never. :) I'll be posting about the challenge later today! Thanks so much.
oops - meant to say better late than never. Now, back to the books :)
This looks like a good challenge. I have some thriller books sitting on my bookcase gathering dust, so this is a good excuse to read them.
I read a lot of thrillers, so this is a great challenge for me. This is the first challenge I've ever participated in, so I'm not sure what I'm doing. I'll try to post reviews of my books on my site and see what happens.
http://loisgresh.blogspot.com/2010/03/because-i-read-so-many-thrillers-anyway.html
Hello! I signed up back in February and just received 'Random' here in Thailand. I'm looking forward to reading it soon and will post a review to my blog -- The Expat Bookworm (http://expatbookworm.byethost14.com/) when I'm done...
Thanks, Book Chick City and Simon & Schuster!
I've just decided to sign up because I never realized how many sub-genre mystery/suspense books I do read. And amazon.co.uk is my go-to site for UK authors like Val McDermid and Ian Rankin, whose new books are not as readily available here in U.S., so I'll be able to post about books you might recognize BCC!
I had to sign up again as I just moved from Wordpress to Blogger.
I signed up. I think I have a series that fits this
I've read Chelsea Cain series already, this will be great! Love the blog.
What's a few more books on my TO-READ list!
I made a page just for this challenge on my blog. Reviews can be found there.

DemonLover - welcome to the challenge! Unfortunately I've had to delete you link on the 'REVIEW' page as it's not linked directly to the review. Please come back and add the direct URL to Mr Linky! Thanks! :)
Yea! I love thrillers and suspense!
Oops! I messed up on my signup link last night. Please disregard #202. I have resigned up (correctly) as #203. Thanks!
I'm in - love this idea!
Im signed up! I didnt realize how many books I have read that fit this category and the other challenge I am part of is suspense/thriller!! I love this idea!

BIGLucyFan@yahoo.com
Im signed up! I love this idea! So great!!
I'm late to this party but I won't have any trouble reading 12 thrillers during the rest of the year. Thanks for organizing!
Yay! I'm starting late but this seems like my kind of challenge! I'm so excited!!! I'm totally putting my post up today!!!
I know I signed up, but didn't see my name.
I've got 2/12 done
Okay, I am confused, I am sure I signed up for this by I don't see my name anywhere, and I thought I left a comment but I don't see that either. I will try again, this looks like fun!
Hi everyone! I'm a bit late but I've only discovered this challenge today. But since this is my favorite genre of books, I think I can still manage... Plus I've already read a few.
I'm another one arriving late to the challenge but it looks fun and 've already read a fwe this year.
I'm joining now, and will start keeping track as of now. 12 more should be easy!
Howdy BCC!
I'm 180 on the sign up list! I just finished this challenge! Great fun! Thanks so much for hosting!
http://www.theunreadreader.com/2010/06/thriller-suspense-reading-challenge.html
P.S. At the time I sign up, I don't think the message about the ARC was up. Is it too late to send you my contact info?
What a great challenge! I just started a book blog (which can be found here), and I can't wait to read and review books for this one. I'll e-mail you about the ARC since I'm not sure if it's still available. Looking forward to getting started!
I recently started a book, television, movie, etc. blog in May. I'm looking forward to taking on the challenge and posting the information on my site. Love the button too!
Totally joining this challenge!! Looks like a great one : )
This only my second challenge ever. Thanks for the opportunity!
Hannah
This is going to be fun! Love the button.
I am SO late - but I'll join anyway. I adore old fashioned mysteries:)
I came in late but this looks like a very fun challenge - Thank you for making this challenge :D
Late, but signed. Am totally new in challenges, will do my best to keep up:)
Coming in a little late on this, but looks like fun! I'll post about this in just a moment.
Just signed up for this challenge. It is a little late I know but I already read a few thriller & suspense novels this year which I also reviewed on my blog.
