Sign Up: Thriller & Suspense Challenge 2010

Thriller & Suspense Challenge 2010!

I was asked by J. Kaye (of J. Kaye's Book Blog) if I would take over and host the Thriller & Suspense Challenge. Well, I love this genre so I jumped at the chance. The rules are basically the same but there is a new button! I hope you will join me in the Thriller & Suspense Reading Challenge 2010!

**UPDATE**

• Courtesy of publisher SIMON & SCHUSTER UK, all participants of this challenge will receive a free ARC of either Random by Craig Robertson or Venom by Joan Brady to start you off on your challenge! Once you have signed up for the challenge, email me with your full name, address, blog URL (if you have one) and your entry number from the participants list below (so I can verify) and I will pass on your details. This is INTERNATIONAL!

I am trying to contact participants who have already signed up - to help me out please email me as there are a lot of people to get though ;) Also some of you don't have a blog or I can't find an email so please contact me!

Timeline: 01 Jan 2010 - 31 Dec 2010
Rules: To read TWELVE (12) thrillers in 2010

Details

• You don't have to select your books ahead of time, you can just add them as you go. Also if you do list them upfront then you can change them, nothing is set in stone! The books you choose can crossover into other challenges you have on the go.

• If you decide to participate in this challenge please use the links I have set up below with the buttons to post on your sidebar, this way others can find their way back to this post and join in the fun.

• If you decide to join this challenge be sure to create a post telling others, please make sure you add a link back to this post so others can join in.

• You can join anytime between now and the later part of next year.

• There will be a place for you to link your reviews and be entered into the monthly prize draw. Non-bloggers welcome - please go HERE and select specific month for more information.

BUTTON

Anita Blake Button 1
Now, there are many different sub-genres of thriller, so don't go thinking that you don't actually read these kinds of books because I bet you read more than you think. As I mentioned above you can choose from the numerous sub-genres, from cosy mysteries such as Agatha Christie to the more hard-boiled kind like V I Warshawski by Sara Paretsky, or even supernatural/paranormal suspense written by the likes of Laurell K Hamilton (Anita Blake) and Kelley Armstrong. So, there you have it, this challenge will have something for everyone I'm sure! :)

To help you figure out and decide, J. Kaye has kindly given me the sub-genre list that she compiled when hosting the challenge. To view this list go HERE.

If you have trouble signing below, please email me the name you want posted below with your blog's link HERE

NB: When signing up for Mr Linky, please add the direct link to your post where your Thriller & Suspense books will be listed as it makes it much easier for others to find. If you don't have a blog, leave the URL blank. Thanks!

Am so excited...going to enjoy this challenge since this is my favorite genre of books and starts after the hustle & bustle of the holidays. Since I hibernate(lol) in the winter, this is going to be wonderful...curled up in my afghan, a cup of tea and a mystery/suspense...definitely looking forward to this challenge. Thank you for hosting.

Darn me and my over-eagerness. I said I wasn't going to sign up for a lot of challenges in 2010. But I keep finding amazing ones like this one. You guys are killing me.

Hi!

I've been meaning to sign up ever since I saw this. Looking forward to it and will blog about it before the beginning of the year. For now will add my name to mr. linky with url pointing to my 2010 challenge post.

Rebecca :) said...

I have a question. I am putting buttons/pictures of my 2010 challenges in my sidebar but the links go back to my original challenge post so people can see all my reviews, etc. In my original post I have the link back to how to sign up to join the challenge. Is this okay to do or do I have to have the sidebar button link back to this page?

Book Chick City said...

Hi Rebecca - I would prefer if my button linked back to the challenge post. If you want to link to your own challenge page you can put separate link underneath button. Thanks! :)

Barbara said...

I'm in. Looking forward to the challenge.

Book Bird Dog said...

Signed up and will start next year as the challenge requires, but I did link with the last thriller/mystery I reviewed this year.

Novroz said...

hohoi I totally signep up!! I read more than 12 mystery&thriller books in a year.

But I am a bit confuse here...the date was set to January 1...but how come people are already giving link???

I'll put the button once I use PC not Cellphone.

Diane said...

Thanks for hosting this challenge!

Book Chick City said...

Hi Novroz,
Thanks for wanting to join the Thriller & Suspense reading challenge. Well, when you want to join a challenge you write up a post about it then link that particular URL to Mr Linky. That way everyone else who has joined the challenge can check out how everyone else is doing and give support. I hope that answers your question and you will come and sign up!

Novroz said...

Thx BCC :)

I have already written my introduction and also give my 1st review (tho it isn't January yet)

I signed up for this challenge as I read so much of this stuff anyways. I have never done one of these and it looks like fun. I already have my first book picked out, it's going to be difficult to wait until January 1st.

Just a question for you, as I am a newcomer to the blog scene, and don't actually have a blog ready to go. Can I post my reviews on Library Thing or somewhere else like that until I actually become a blogger of my own? My kids are probably rolling their eyes right now because I am asking this question.

JG said...

I wasn't too sure about this one until I read the list of sub-genres. I'm giving it a try!
