Post a picture of your bookshelf

I find lots of fun things while browsing J. Kaye’s Book Blog and this is no exception. Originally created by Peter @ KyusiReader, who says:

“I’m a firm believer that the books you have are a reflection of your personality. Never mind that you don’t get to read them, just the fact that you bought them and keep them in your bookshelf say a lot about who you are (or who you want to be)”.

He also collects peoples bookshelf photos and features them on his blog. So why not pop along and take a look.

Well, my taste in books is pretty eclectic. I love all genre: horror, crime, thriller, scf-fi, fantasy, chick lit and romance. I suppose I don’t read historical fiction but I think I’m pretty well read. So, not sure what Peter would make of my bookshelves and how they reflect my personality.

What do you think? Also, if you want a closer look just click the image and it will take you to a larger version :)

This is my ‘Horror’ bookcase
(although the last couple of shelves are taken up
with sheet music as I used to study music)

The next two bookcases are for my ‘Classics’
These are my pride and joy!

My dedicated ‘Agatha Christie’ shelf

My ‘Thriller/Crime’ and ‘Paranormal’ shelves

Looking at my photos I think I’m seeing a bit of a trend – I’m a bit of a neat freak! I suppose my shelves are pretty tidy, but I do have lots of books that are piling up on the floor that are a complete mess. I need more bookcases but we are decorating at the moment, so once that’s finished I will get a really lovely bookcase to hold as many books as possible!

So, I’ve shown you mine, now you show me yours!

I was going to say! I wish mine looked half that organized. I am out of room, so mine are all over the place in piles. So I think I'll just keep my disorganized self away from the camera!

I know, I must say that I do like my books in order. I think if they were higgledy piggledy it would annoy me and I think it's because I like showing them off :)

Your shelves are gorgeous! I love the pne way up high…. I wanted one like that.

Very organized too. I have not done that yet because I don't know where to start, most of mine are one hit wonders… I only have a few collections by the same authors.

Sheila – thank you. I like the ones high up too. This shelf only goes half way round the room but hopefully we will finish it this year to go all the way.

Debbie – No! You should send pics! I don't care what the shelves look like, I just love seeing the books :D

Alicia – thanks for you comments. Yes, I do love a tidy shelf, but if I showed you where the rest of my books are you would see how messy I can be!

J. Kaye – thanks, I do love my bookcases, I just wish I had more! :)

I was going to say the samething that a previous blogger said. They are beautiful, and arranged so well. Mine on the other hand are all over the place. I have three book cases. But there are books on the floor in stacks. There is no place to put them. I have made a place on my Amoire for stacks of books and they keep piling and piling.

Great post and wow, I love your bookshelves!!! But where's the chicklit section? ;)

Here's a quick peek at my book collection: http://i31.tinypic.com/b7yljp.jpg It was taken a while back so things have changed a bit, but I'm planning to post my pictures on my blog soon anyway! I just love checking out other people's books!!! :)

ps: There's an award for you at my blog – you passed it on to me, but you definitely deserve it too. :)

Hi Guys, thanks for all the great comments – I love my bookshelves too ;)

My chick-lit section are the books I mentioned that I piling up on the floor. They are a recent addition to my book collection as I only started reading the genre last year. Hopefully new shelves soon…

I am drooling over your shelves. The shelves themselves are beautiful and you have your books so nicely organized.

I thought of a few things while looking at these photos:

1) I was just thinking of having shelves on my walls just below the ceiling and lo! You have them and they turn the corners!!! Now I know I can do it! My father-in-law can make me some in a flash!

2) I have never heard of Meg Gardiner before and now I think I must check out her books since you have similar authors among your books as I do.

3) That dedicated Agatha Christie line in front of the window just makes me sigh contentedly.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Now I have to go check out everyone else's bookcases like you suggested. ;)

OMG, those are beautiful. I have been trying to talk my bf into making shelves that are close to the ceiling like those. I can't wait. I just bought 5 more of them at a garage sale today. (As if I needed more!)

Check out my shelves if you get a chance:

They look great! Funny, I just told my hubby yesterday we have no more space for more book shelves on the floor so I heed shelves going around the room near the ceiling :) I should show him these pictures.

Oh, I love your bookshelves! I especially love those copies of the Harry Potter books… I have never seen black ones like those!
I'm just like you, I am a neat freak with books/organization. Although, right now due to lack of space my books are sort of cluttered :(
