I saw this on another blog, but sadly I can’t remember where (sorry!). But I thought it looked fun and I’ve adapted it so it fits in with the UK as well as the US. So here goes:
Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?
I probably have more trade paperbacks than anything else and I never usually buy hardbacks.
Waterstones, Borders or Amazon?
I buy most of my books from Amazon but when I go to town I always pop into Waterstone’s and buy a few books, I can’t help myself.
Bookmark or dog-ear?
Always bookmark. I used to dog-ear when I was younger but then I didn’t want to harm my books anymore so I bought lots of bookmarks and since then wouldn’t dream of dog-earing!
Amazon or brick-and-mortar?
Brick and mortar! I much prefer being able to see and touch all the gorgeous book and see the lush covers up close. I also love to browse the shelves and check out new genres and new authors. Amazon makes it easy to buy books at just at the click of a button I can buy whatever I want without going anywhere, but it will never replace the bookshop for me.
Alphabetize by author, or alphabetize by title, or random?
I don’t alphabetise at the moment but I do keep author and genres together. So I have shelves for horror, shelf for fantasy etc. A lot of my books don’t have shelves yet but once we finish decorating we will buy lots of lovely bookcases.
Keep, throw away, or sell?
I would NEVER throw away!!! I can’t even imagine that people would do that! Do they? I probably keep about 98% of all my books. The ones I really, really didn’t enjoy and know I would never read again or read anything by that author again I give to a charity shop.
Keep dust jacket or toss it?
If I ever bought a hardback I will always keep the cover. Who would toss the dust jacket? That’s the best part!
Read with dust jacket or remove it?
On.
Short story or novel?
Always novel, although I have read a few short stories but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy them.
Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
Can’t really answer this one as haven’t read either.
Buy or borrow?
Buy! Buy! Buy! Can’t help myself! I have also borrowed from the library but that’s pretty rare.
Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?
Probably all three.
Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
If it’s a series then cliffhanger! If it’s a stand alone novel then tidy ending as I don’t really like ambiguity.
Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading?
Any time reading!! However, the time I read the most is probably afternoon and evening.
Stand-alone or series?
Series!! I love stand-alones too, but I really like following a particular character and getting to know them.
Favourite series?
Wow, this is a toughie. I would have to say Anita Blake (Laurell K. Hamilton), followed very closely by the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella (Becky Bloomwood reminds me so much of someone…) but I’m about to start Sookie Stackhouse soon, so it may all change…
Favorite children’s book?
I read a lot of Judy Blume and Nancy Drew books and I loved them, so I will go with these. Oh and Alice and Wonderland – fantastic book!
Favourite YA book?
My first YA book I read was Twilight, and subsequently the series, last year, but I didn’t read any other YA until last month when I was sent the Noughts & Crosses series written by Malorie Blackman. Noughts & Crosses (Book 1 ) was just amazing. I can’t recommend it enough.
Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
I think it’s really hard to choose a book that nobody has heard of ‘cos inevitably someone will have heard of it.
Favourite books read last year?
The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty, the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsells and the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.
Favourite books of all time?
There are so many books that affected me in some way but I suppose these are my favourites. Dracula by Bram Stoker, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, In Cold Blood by Turman Capote, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, I know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, The Colour Purple by Alice Walker.
Favorite book to recommend to an 11-year-old?
Anything by Judy Blume as these books really helped me so much as I grew up. I would also recommend the Nancy Drew books. These books influenced me into reading other mystery, crime and thriller novels and it’s a genre I really love.
Favorite book to re-read?
I have read Dracula quite a few time as well as Jane Eyer and Wuthering Heights.
Do you ever smell books?
Maybe, sometimes… ahem..
Do you ever read primary source documents like letters or diaries?
I have done in the past but not many.
What are you reading right now?
I’m reading three: Babymoon by Melanie La’Brooy, Friends Like Us by Caitlin Davies and Once Bitten Twice Shy by Jennifer Jardin (all for review).
What are you reading next?
Once I’ve finished the above I will probably read The Good Bride Guide by Matt Dunn, Other People’s Husbands by Judy Astley as they are for review.

Agree with you that you should never dog-ear the pages of a book or throw a booj away! Can't imagine any reason I would throw a perfectly good book away, even if I hated it.
