In My Mailbox #7

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

I had a great week this week for books. I received four great looking books to review and bought sixteen. I know, but I was a little trigger happy with Amazon 1-Click and then my hubby and I went to town yesterday and I had to pop into Waterstones.. well it was *right* there, how could I just ignore it! I would have bought more (that’s the seriousness of my addiction) but didn’t as I was already getting *the look*. Can’t blame him really, as sixteen books in a week is a bit excessive, but I wanted them, no, *needed* them… I’m sure you understand my bookie friends ;)

So, here are the books I got this week:

Bought:

• Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (managed to get a paperback at the airport – couldn’t seem to get it in the shops)
• Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay (I *love* the TV series, so thought I would try out the books)
• Dearly Devoted Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
• Darkly Dreaming Dester by Jeff Lindsay
• Dexter by Design by Jeff Lindsay
• Dark Vision by L. J. Smith
• Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder
• Copycat by Erica Spindler
• Killer Smile by Lisa Scottoline
• Weaveworld by Clive Barker
• Ill Wind by Rachel Caine

Have heard lots of really good things about the following YA books on other blogs, so thought I would try them out as they all look fab:

• The Forest of Hands & Teeth by Carrie Ryan
• The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan
• The Devouring by Simon Holt
• The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
• The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong

For Review:

• Return to Sender by Zoe Barnes
• Everything Sucks by Hannah Friedman (YA)
• Other People’s Husbands by Judy Astley
• The White Horse Trick by Kate Thomason (YA)

I also received this book from Liz at My Favourite Books.
• The Rise and Fall of a Domestic Diva by Sarah May

Well, that’s it – what books did you get this week?

That's an excellent haul. I've heard great things about The Demon's Lexicon. I also enjoyed The Devouring… I just wish I'd imported the US version because I'm not keen on our cover at all!

Woohoo, what a great week! And I totally know what you mean by *needing* those books and not being able to resist bookshops and clicking away on online bookshops – I'm guilty of all three, but trying to cut back atm and it's sooo hard. I wish I could just buy all the books I want and not have to worry about money, space or time to read them, heh.

That's insane and very exciting, but I would then turn around and worry how I would read them all! You'll love Hunger Games. I have my eye on Forest of Hands and Teeth as well.

I love the Dexter books! (and the show). Hope you do too!

The Hunger Games is absolutely amazing, you definitely won't regret buying that one.

I'm also incredibly jealous of your Breaking Dawn paperback – my collection is incomplete! I've never seen it, and only have an Australian paperback. Hmm… time I went on a hunt!

You have some great books there. I absolutely love the Dexter series. Jeff Lindsay is, in my humble opinion, a fantastic writer.

What an incredible batch of books! Totally understand that you *needed* these books. Especially the Dexter series, which are beyond awesome! Have a few of these on my TBR pile, but the others were new to me. Enjoy!

That's a great stack of books!

I have received quite some books this past week (will post them tomorrow in my Tuesday Treasures feature) and went to a book fair on Saturday. I saw a few Scottline and Spindler books and as I love thriller/suspense the temptation was there to snatch them up but I didn't do it. Bought 2 Rachel Gibson books and a Toni Blake book(contemporary), a Gennita Low book (suspense) and a Karyn Bosnak book (chicklit). Also 2 historical fiction books, 1 on Helen of Troy and 1 on Cleopatra and a dictionary. For me this was very modest…normally I go through this book fair like a crazy woman, snatching up as much books as I can, but since I have decided I must diminish the book buying this was a good test for me!

I've just finished Jusy Astley's book which was okay (review coming tomorrow), Zoe Barnes book was fab and I really didn't like the Sarah May one at all!!

Wow! Great books! I actually just read about a few that I want that are from the UK and I guess I may have to get them on Abe's or something…have you read "The Crucifix Killer"? I think it's Chris…(Carter?) I think that IS his last name, but I'm not positive!

WOW! I wish I had that many books come in my mail! Looks like you have a ton of great books. Now all you have to do is decide which book to read! LOL! That seems to be the hardest part for me, anyway.
Happy Reading!

I *love* Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series. I'm so happy to see "Ill Wind" on a blog, I can't even tell you!

And the "Dark Visions" trilogy — one of my favorites as an actual teen.

Awesome books. Happy reading!
