ALL HALLOWS EVE 2009 – GUEST AUTHOR: Linda Wisdom “Let’s Get Hexy”

Let’s Get Hexy

First off, a mega thank you to Carolyn for inviting me here! And I’m so glad she’s enjoyed my Hex series.
After thirty years as a published author in category romance, I’m writing what I truly love. Not things that go bump in the night, although you’ll find that in my books. Along with sassy snarky witches, a vampire who’s edgy yet has a sense of humor, necessary when dealing with the witch in his unlife, a sexy wizard lawyer, and a shapeshifter you can take to the dog park.
When Jazz popped into my head and stated, “You have to write about me” I knew immediately it was going to be a wild ride for me. And that’s exactly what it’s been. Writing these books is like playtime. I never know what can happen next. Believe me, there’s been times I’m writing a scene with no idea how it will end until I get there. I think that’s part of the fun for me.
The Witches Academy class of 1313 was banished from the academy when a member cast an illegal spell on a local nobleman. Their banishment would only last 100 years if they behaved. No wonder over 700 years later they were still out in the mortal world.
I love writing paranormal, making the unbelievable believable, and giving my readers some laughs, a lot of magic, and hot love scenes. Not necessarily together.
The fun part of writing in this genre is that you can either write light or dark. I try to do a bit of both with my books. I hope my readers connect with my characters. See that the witches are ones you’d love to hang out with. Go shopping with, get coffee and gossip. Plus who knows, you could learn some magic along the way.
Unlike my series, I have a different main character for each book, although Jazz had two books in the beginning, 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover and Hex Appeal. Her fellow witch Stasi was the focus of Wicked By Any Other Name and now Blair’s book, Hex in High Heels, is out. We have a curse eliminator living near Hollywood who snuggles up with a vampire private investigator, a witch gifted in love spells who owns a lingerie/romance book boutique and sports red hearts twirling around her head courtesy of Cupid and a hot wizard lawyer, and a witch who knows her way around revenge spells and actively pursuing a Were border collie. Some of the future witches are introduced in these books.
And then there’s fun creatures like Fluff and Puff, Jazz’s fangy bunny slippers who believe they’re stars in their own right, Stasi’s gargoyle, Horace, who prefers to hang out in the boutique’s dressing rooms, some fun crocodile stilettos named Croc and Delilah. Jazz’s strange boss, Dweezil, a boardwalk populated by a variety of Weres, and other surprises. But then, isn’t that what we love in a book? Surprises.
As for the latest book, Hex in High Heels, think witches against arrogant Weres, elves that aren’t the kind you’d see hanging out with Santa, and Blair trying to have a romance amidst all the chaos that makes up her life. Just another day in a witch’s life.
I hope you’ll give my witches a try and that you enjoy them.
