Plot Summary from Columbia Pictures:
In the horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss — but when you’re afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying’ bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.
My Ramblings:
Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), who could be a poster boy for the definition of a nerd, narrates throughout movie talking about his rules of survival in Zombieland. The movie begins with Columbus listing a few of his rules with hilarious examples that demonstrate the necessity for them. With trepidation, Columbus meets Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), a Twinkie lovin’, zombie hating Texan on his way to Ohio, where he is hoping to find his parents still alive. Tallahassee doesn’t give his real name and decides they will go by the name of their destination, to keep from forming personal attachments. While traveling Tallahassee stops wherever he thinks he might find some Twinkies, at one of these stops, he demonstrates another use for the banjos, besides making music and this is where the guys meet up with the two sisters Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Brisling). Wichita and Little Rock are heading to California, where they had heard of a zombie free area. From here they all journey to California with a few hilarious incidents and a couple of purposeful deceits. In California, there is cameo guest appearance by someone, that I’m not going to tell you who it is but will say helped make this movie that much more hilarious.
My favorite phase from the movie is said by Tallahassee to Columbus, as they are about to go into a supermarket in search of his ever elusive Twinkies: “Nut up or shut up.” Click here to view this scene on YouTube.com.
Zombieland is a fun, hilarious horror flick, in the tune to Shaun of the Dead but with an American flare. I laughed most of the way through this movie, until the very end, there weren’t any real scary moments. The end gave me a few heart pounding moments for the four main characters in the movie, I was so unsure how it was going to end for them. While Zombieland was gory (can’t have a movie about zombies without gore), I don’t think it was nearly as gruesome as the others I have watched like say Dawn of the Dead. So, if you can stand to see a little brains, a bit of dripping flesh and some bloody splatter with a healthy dose of comedy, I recommend you watch this movie. This movie to say it plainly was just a lot of fun to watch.

Donna, thanks for the review! I cannot wait to see this movie (I also loved Shaun of the Dead!)–but my husband refuses. I need to find a posse of zombie-loving girlfriends to go!

I was sort of wondering about it, and I LOVE Woody Harrelson! Thanks for this. And your thoughts on the scary quotient. Because I'm a big baby!

Penelope – My husband didn't go with me either. I took my 19 year son, we had a blast laughing through the movie.
Melissa – Loved the cheeky humor in the movie.
Carolyn – I really liked Woody in this movie. Some of his movies have been hit or miss for while but this was definitely what I like seeing in his acting. Oh, and it was like a 1 on a scale of 1 to 5 for the scary factor.

Hi Donna!
I really really want to see this movie, trying to talk the hubs into it, he's sooo not the blood and gore type. But he is the laugh your head off type, so hoping to win him over. (Shaun of the Dead was too funny as well.)
Thanks for a great review!!

Jo – It is funny – cheek aching funny.
Dottie – I didn't think it was as gory as other zombie movies I've seen. I think Shaun of the Dead was much more gory.
Mandi & KC – Yep – Nut up or Shut up! It's my new catch phrase. My son keeps saying "I'm going to hit with just 45% power." Mandi, go watch the movie and you'll get it. *winks*
Alexia – Yeah, I think it was as good as Shaun of Dead, maybe just a tad funnier.
