All Hallow's Eve: Interview & Giveaway with Linda Wisdom [NOW CLOSED]

BCC: Hi Linda, welcome. To get things started can you tell my readers about your Hex series and your latest book?
LW: The premise for my series was that the Witches Academy class of 1313 was banished for 100 years and could return as long as they behaved and 700 years later they’re still out there in the real world. They each have their special gifts, are sassy, sexy, and ready to fight for the underdog and for each other.
BCC: I really enjoyed your latest novel, Hex in High Heels, which is released Oct. I loved all the characters and Jake was definitely a sexy puppy. Did you base him on someone you know or is he straight out of your imagination?
LW: The funny thing is Jake was first mentioned in 50 Ways To Hex Your Lover. Jazz, Stasi and Blair enjoyed watching him work. Nothing like a man in tight jeans and a tool belt! It wasn’t until I brought him back in Wicked By Any Other Name that I realized he was a Were and a Border collie at that. He is totally out of my imagination and a lot of fun to write.
BCC: Have you always been interested in the paranormal/supernatural?
LW: Very much so. I wrote my first paranormal romance in 1988 and several others for Harlequin books, but I knew I wanted to go even further. The witches are letting me do that. And we have a house ghost who likes to take things and return them later. At least he leaves my make up alone.
BCC: Who is your favourite witch: Jazz, Stasi or Blaire? And for the guys: shapeshifter Jake, vampire Nick or wizard Trevor?
LW: I can’t really say I have a favorite since they’re all special in one way or another. But I’ve been told that Jazz and I are very much alike. Except she’s taller. :} I adore Nick because he handles Jazz so well, but, well, I’m such a dog person that it has to be Jake.
BCC: All your novels are connected by the same circle of friends, but with each new book you focus on a different female protagonist. Why did you choose to do this rather than focus on one for the entire series?
LW: It just worked out that way for me. I knew I wouldn’t be able to write about one of them with the others showing up every now and then. They all deserved their own stories and romance.
BCC: 13 witches were expelled from Witches Academy in 1313 and you have written about three of them. WIll you be giving any of the others their own story?
LW: As long as the readers keep buying the books I’ll be able to write all the witches.
BCC: Is there a particular author or book that inspired you to write?
LW: Well, I’ve been doing this for 30 years and I’ve always wanted to write. I think just reading wonderful books kept me wanting to do the same.
BCC: The covers of your books are very cute - do you have any input with this?
LW: I give them specifics on the characters’ appearance and extras and my wonderful cover artist does the rest.
BCC: What are you working on now? Is it another in the Hex series or something completely different?
LW: I’m working on Maggie’s book. She’s introduced in Hex in High Heels. She’s my total kick ass witch along with a very hot guy barging into her life. I’m also working on a Young Adult urban fantasy.
BCC: How do you celebrate Halloween?
LW: I love to decorate the house and have a village collection called Creepy Hollow along with the outdoors decorated with cobwebs, tombstones and whatever else strikes my fancy. I also have a collection of the Halloween Barbie dolls including the Wicked Witch of the West and Wicked Witch of the East and other figurines I’ve been given as gifts. But this year I’ll be celebrating at a book signing. A local bookstore is hosting it where we’ll dress up and have a party atmosphere.
Thanks so much Linda!

What a great interview! A new author for me to investigate.
Please enter me for the competition...I know, I know I live in Cyprus, but my girls live in the UK, so pretty please.
I already follow you here and on Twitter.
My spell? I would wave my wand so all writers could do just that, write. No running around working elsewhere for a living. A special 'magic' income would appear in their bank accounts each month.
Oh did I mention my birthday is Halloween? My dad said 200 years earlier and he would have had to drown me at birth, I was born on the cusp of midnight 31st.
Hi, great interview. I have been wanting to read these for some time, I love the covers.

Hi RK!
Linda
Oh Glynis!
I've been writing full time for 30 years, so I guess your spell worked back then. :}
Linda
Hi Elnice,
I agree that a travel spell would be fun. And we could save on baggage fees!
Linda
Hi Serena,
Actually, Nick the sexy vampire is in the first three books. 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover, Hex Appeal and Wicked by Any Other Name.
Linda
Ooh, interesting spell Lori!
But would you stop at having her there for just one book?
Linda
Hi Cherie,
And an easier way to handle the luggage.
Linda
Hi Ros,
I'm 5' 1 1/2" so I know what you mean.
Linda

I'd love a copy of Hex in High Heels...will be purchasing others, to keep you writing about all 13 witches!
My spell would be to twitch my nose like Samantha, and have dinner ready & house clean before my hubby walks in the door! (so he wouldn't know I spent the afternoon pounding at the keyboard!)
Happy Halloween, everyone!

Thanks for joining us Linda! This series sounds wonderful and is on my wishlist! If I win I'd like 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover.
If I had magical powers, I'd give myself the ability to transport myself anywhere with a snap of my fingers. Kinda like a witchy Star Trek transporter. Can you imagine all the money you'd save by not needing a car? No insurance, no gas, no maintenance. Woo-Hoo!
joderjo402 AT gmail DOT com
I would choose 50 ways to hex your lover because I haven't read this series yet.

I would cast a spell to make someone to do my bidding forever haha!
Hi Ashley!
So good to see you here.
Will you be at the chapter meeting this weekend?
I'm with you. I want my house clean.
Linda
Very true, Joder. I always think saving on air travel but even better not needing a car. Although I love my SUV that's named Jazz for obvious reasons.
Linda
Hi Jeanette.
A spell you'd have to be careful with because it could totally backfire on you. You might say the wrong thing and they'd do it!
Linda
Fun interview! I'd like to be entered for Hex Appeal. If I were a witch I'd cast a spell so my house would always been clean and picked up. I subscribe in Google Reader. milou2ster(at)gmail.com
