I have officially been on a book buying ban since last weekend as it was getting ridiculous the amount of money I was spending. It has now been a week. I had a few withdrawal symptoms for a few days: headaches, shakes, sweats and my finger hovered over the Amazon 1-click many times, but I held strong. I am very happy with myself as I don’t think a week has gone by for the last few years where I haven’t bought at least one book.
However, this week was still fantastic as I received lots of books for review and as always I am so happy and can’t wait to read them all. But there were two books that stood out for me just because of their packaging.
I also forgot to share with you the books I bought in Borders while I was in San Francisco last month. I *LOVE* Borders and the US has such a better selection of Urban Fantasy, Paranormal and YA books than we do over here in the UK *very jealous book chick* So I thought I would add those to this weeks IMM post as well. And I also won a book too! All links go to Goodreads, just in case you wanted to add any to your wishlists!
For Review:
Melissa de la Cruz (Orbit)
Publication Date: 4 March 2010
ARC: 302 pages
Genre: Young Adult, Vampires
Summary (press release)
Fifteen-year-old Schuyler Van Alen has never quite fit in at her exclusive prep school – she’s more of a vintage than a Versace girl – but all that’s about to change. Because Schuyler has just found out that she’s a Blue Blood. The Blue Bloods are the city’s glamorous and secret vampire elite. They’re beautiful, rich and powerful. But now they’re being murdered. And Schuyler must find out who – or what – is behind it before she’s next.
I know that in the US you have had the Blood Bloods series for a while, but Orbit is publishing the series next year here in the UK and I am one of the first to receive an ARC of Book One!! I was so excited to get this book and it came with a bow and a little envelope with a note. It’s so cute, I had to take a picture and show you:

How cool is that?!
The other book that was packaged so beautifully was:

Rosemary Clement-Moore (Corgi YA)
Publication Date: 28 Jan 2010
ARC: 513 pages
Genre: Young Adult
Summary (Press Release)
Can love last beyond the grave?
Sylvie Davis is a ballerina who can’t dance. A broken leg ended her career, but Sylvie’s pain runs deeper. What broke her heart was her father’s death, and what’s breaking her spirit is her mother’s remarriage—a union that’s only driven an even deeper wedge into their already tenuous relationship.
Uprooting her from her Manhattan apartment and shipping her to Alabama is her mother’s solution for Sylvie’s unhappiness. Her father’s cousin is restoring a family home in a town rich with her family’s history. And that’s where things start to get shady. As it turns out, her family has a lot more history than Sylvie ever knew. More unnerving, though, are the two guys that she can’t stop thinking about. Shawn Maddox, the resident golden boy, seems to be perfect in every way. But Rhys—a handsome, mysterious foreign guest of her cousin’s—has a hold on her that she doesn’t quite understand. Then she starts seeing things. Sylvie’s lost nearly everything—is she starting to lose her mind as well?
The book came wrapped in black crape paper with a purple velvet bow. Then as I opened it all the petals fell out. The note is as if it’s been hand written and I assume is a quote from the book! All very exciting and sounds pretty good too! Here’s a pic!

Okay. Onto the rest I received for review:

Nice mailbox week! I am on a sort of book-buying hiatus, too. Trying to put the $$ to holiday gifts for others, so no book buying this past week. I went on a bender earlier in the month, bought many books, then had to clear the shelves of books I was sure I wouldn't read to make room for the books I knew I'd read.
I don't get very many books to review, so nothing in the mailbox this week.

I am buying books to replace the ones I left in the UK. I am trying to be good and just buy a few each month. Then a new bookstore from the UK opened in Paphos and I just had to have a look. My downfall, the car groaned all the way up the hills to the village. If it had been a donkey it would have died halfway!
I hope your ban doesn't last too long. I love the packaged books and there are a few here to go on my wishlist.

Some of those books look really good.
I got a copy of Soulless last week that I'd won, and it was brilliant! I loved it so much.
I'm quite glad I need to drive two hours to a good bookshop, otherwise I would spend so much money on books.
Here is my IMM post, a little late: Book Bundle
