Mary

1. When and why did you start blogging?

I started book blogging in July 2009. I’m a newbie!  I decided to start a book blog because my friends and family are always asking me for lists of good books they should read. I was posting the odd review here and there on my personal blog, My Life in Scotland. I then decided to just post them all in one place so family & friends could easily get to my reviews. I had NO idea there was a book blogging community. I thought I was the only one that was going to put my book reviews on a blog. Little did I know…

2. Tell us a little about your blog?

The Sweet Bookshelf is a place to catch reviews and giveaways on a variety of books. I try to feature an author every week so we can learn more about the truly good books out there. We have discussions on books, news, characters, you name it! It’s a SWEET place to be! Soon I’ll be featuring a weekly sweet recipe to go along with your reading.

3. Are there any features on your blog you would like to highlight?

I’ve started The News Stand on Monday mornings. Here we dish on tidbits, news, and important things we think you bookies need to know from this book week.

4. What’s been the high point of blogging so far?

I reviewed an ARC of The Dresskeeper by Mary Naylus a few weeks ago. The book is going to press this week and they want to use my review, name, and blog on the cover of the book! I approved the quote just this morning! I can’t believe it! The Dresskeeper in stores Nov 30th.

5. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a 29 yr old American living in Scotland and I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember. I generally read about 1-2 books per week. This year I am very much into YA and fantasy books. But I enjoy ALL genre. I’ll always love a good Fairytale, and I’m a sucker for a book with a little romance.

6. What’s your favorite book of all time?

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. No contest. I can’t even explain to you HOW much I love these books! I’m anxiously awaiting book 3!

7. Who are your favorite authors?

Gail Carson Levine, Shannon Hale, Suzanne Collins, Brandon Mull, LM Montgomery, Jane Austen, The Bronte Sisters, and so many more!

8. How many books are on your tbr list right now?

25! That’s not counting all the books I want to buy and haven’t yet! I won’t let myself until I read these though. I have discipline.

9. Where do you see your blog in a year from now?

I’m not really sure… If it stays small I’m OK with that as long as everyone is enjoying themselves and I’m still getting books to giveaway!

Thanks Mary!

Hi Mary, have a great time with your blog and your reading. I love the fact that a woman with a 25 book tbr pile describes herself as "disciplined" :)

Yeah, that is some discipline! If my stack was 25 deep, I might actually have hope of getting to them all! It was so nice to meet Mary. I think it is fabulous that her quote was used on a book! Wow!

Life would be so much simpler if my TBR pile was 25, haha. Great interview and I love this feature! :)
