On My Wishlist #7

On My Wishlist is a weekly meme hosted by Book Chick City, which will be posted every Wednesday. It allows us to share the books we haven’t bought yet but are waiting to be bought and devoured. If you are anything like me then your wishlist is getting longer by the day! If you would like to take part and have your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post then you can find more info here. (This post was inspired by the fab In My Mailbox by Kristi at The Story Siren).

OMW is back after the holiday break – it was nice to see that many of you still kept up with your OMW posts! I hope you all had a terrific Christmas & New Year!

I found this while I was over at Scifi Guy and it looks and sounds brilliant. I was sent the Maneater series to review and they sound good as well. I have a feeling I’m going to really like this author!

Zombie Britannica
Thomas Emson (Snowbooks)
Publication Date: 1 May 2010
Hardback: 350 pages
Genre: Zombie Horror

Summary (Goodreads)

Cassie’s day as a guide at Westminster Abbey begins badly when zombies storm into the building and eat the tourists. Carrie escapes – but finds London choked with the undead. She has no idea where they came from, no idea how to stop them – all she knows is she has to race through dangerous, gore-soaked streets and find her daughter. And her day doesn’t get any better…

I found this while checking out the Snowbooks webite (Publisher of book above) and I saw this one – another zombie book that sounds really good. You must have guessed by now, I love me some zombie ;)

Flu
Wayne Simmons (Snowbooks)
Publication Date: 1 April 2010
Paperback: 416 pages
Genre: Zombie Horror

Summary (Goodreads)

There’s a nasty flu going round. An epidemic, they call it. The posters say to cover your mouth when you sneeze, and throw away the tissue. But such simple measures won’t stop this flu. Because when you catch the flu, armed police come and lock you in your house to die alone. When you catch this flu, it kills you in days. And when you catch this flu, two hours after it’s killed you, your eyelids snap open again…

I come across this one when I found a new-to-me blog: Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist. It sounded like a great read so on my wishlist it went!

Burning Skies
David J. Williams (Spectra)
Publication Date: 19 May 2009
Paperback: 490 pages
Genre: Science Fiction

Summary (Goodreads)

Life as U.S. counterintelligence agent Claire Haskell once knew it is in tatters—her mission betrayed, her lover dead, and her memories of the past suspect. Worse, the defeat of the mysterious insurgent group known as Autumn Rain was not as complete as many believed. It is quickly becoming clear that the group’s ultimate goal is not simply to destroy the tenuous global alliances of the 22nd century—but to rule all of humanity. And they’re starting with the violent destruction of the Net and the assassination of the U.S. president. Now it’s up to Claire, with her ability to jack her brain into the systems of the enemy, to win this impossible war.

Battling ferociously across the Earth-Moon system, and navigating a complex world filled with both steadfast loyalists and ruthless traitors, Claire must be ready for the Rain’s next move. But the true enemy may already be one step ahead of her.

So, what’s on your wishlist this week?

That's a great list of books, though the first two are a bit scary for me! I'm such a wuss ;)
Hope you get them soon!

I've never read any sci-fi book so far but the one w/ "Flu" as its title sounds really enticing! Do you have any favourite books under sci-fi genre?

I would love to read the first 2! Especially the second one!

Hi Shy – I would definitely recommend Trading in Danger by Elizabeth Moon. It's book one in the Vatta's War series and it's really good. Science Fiction is a pretty new genre for me too, so I'm still discovering new authors myself :)

I linked up! This is my first week participating in OMW, and I had fun putting my short list together. Maybe as I go on the lister will get longer and longer.

I can honestly say I've never read a zombie book before. Maybe I ought to try! These look like a great place to start. Hope you get to read them soon!
