On My Wishlist #9

On My Wishlist is a weekly meme hosted by Book Chick City, which will be posted every Wednesday. It allows us to share the books we haven't bought yet but are waiting to be bought and devoured. If you are anything like me then your wishlist is getting longer by the day! If you would like to take part and have your own 'On My Wishlist' post then you can find more info here. (This post was inspired by the fab In My Mailbox by Kristi at The Story Siren).

I can't remember the first time I came across this book, but it's been on my wishlist for some time. I really like the cover and it sounds really good too *plus author's got a really cool name - mine! ;)*

Mind Games
Carolyn Crane (Spectra)
Publication Date: 23 March 2010
Paperback: 432 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Summary (Goodreads)

Mind Games follows the adventures of Justine Jones, a hopeless hypochondriac who longs to be normal. Instead, she is recruited to join a psychological hit squad in a city terrorized by criminals with strange powers…only to fall for her most dangerous target!

This series looks so good. I love this cover, but the cover for the next book in the series, Archangel's Kiss, is even better. In fact it's gorgeous! The UK covers by Gollancz are not so good - when I get round to buying this series, I'll definitely be getting the US editions.

Angel's Blood
Nalini Singh (Berkley)
Publication Date: 9 March 2009
Paperback: 358 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Summary (Goodreads)

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux is hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael. But this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad. The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other—and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn’t destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break.
**UPDATE: Now Own**

I heard about this author when I was cruising the PYR Catalogue and found the second book in this series, Starbound. So I popped on over to the authors website and found this is actually a trilogy. So obviously I have to start with Marsbound, which sounds like a really fun and exciting read.

Marsbound
Joe Haldeman (ACE)
Publication Date: 28 July 2009
Hardback: 288 pages
Genre: Science Fiction

Goodreads Summary:

Young Carmen Dula and her family are embarking on the adventure of a lifetime—they’re going to Mars. But Carmen’s rebellious streak leads her to venture out into the bleak Mars landscape alone, where she is saved by an angel. An angel with too many arms and legs, a head that looks like a potato gone bad—and a message for the humans on Mars: We were here first…

Wow, you're right about the Archangel's Kiss cover being gorgeous! Absolutely stunning! And yeah, the US cover far surpasses the UK ones here.

Now I have another reason to read Nalini Singh!

Angels' Blood is really good.

I'm looking forward to Mind Games too!

"Marsbound" really caught my interest. I rarely read any science fiction but the idea of such alien encounter, in which we are the one who are aliens in the eye of the Martian makes the story even more intriguing.

Mind Games is on my wishlist too and Angels' Blood is one of my fave's of 2009. I've got good hopes that Archangels Kiss will equal the reading experience ;)
