On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted here at Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. I hope you will join in! If you want to know more click here.

**This is the Be My Valentine special edition wishlist as I list a few romance books that I have wanted for a while, but as I don’t often read this genre have been kept on the back burner**

I have wanted to read this book forever! I’ve read a lot of classics over the years but never managed to get around to this one.

North and South
Elizabeth Gaskell (Vintage Classics)
Publication Date: 28 March 2008
First Published: 1854
Paperback: 547 pages
Genre: Classic, Romance

Goodreads Summary:

Milton is a sooty, noisy northern town centered around the cotton mills that employ most of its inhabitants. Arriving from a rural idyll in the south, Margaret Hale is initially shocked by the social unrest and poverty she finds in her new hometown. However, as she begins to befriend her neighbors, and her stormy relationship with the mill-owner John Thornton develops, she starts to see Milton in a different light.

I only knew Janet Evanovich as the author of the Stephanie Plum series, but while perusing the pages of Amazon, I came across her romance collection. Having read Love Overboard and The Rocky Road to Romance, I can honestly say they are fun, light reads that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside ;)

Hero At Large
Janet Evanovich (Harper Collins)
Publication Date: 1 April 2010
Paperback: 320 pages
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Goodreads Summary:

Written by Janet Evanovich

In a previous life, before the time of Plum, I wrote twelve short romance novels. Red-hot screwball comedies, each and every one of them. The romances were originally published between the years 1988 and 1992. All immediately went out of print and could be found only at used bookstores and yard sales. I’m happy to tell you that those stories have now been re-released by HarperCollins, presented in almost original form. I’ve done only minor editing to correct some embarrassing bloopers missed the first time around.

Hero at Large was the very first book published. It’s about a sexy guy who cooks a potholder in spaghetti sauce and charms a single mom and former world-class ice skater with the promise of a ride on his Zamboni. It’s got broken bones, giant turkeys, cantankerous cars, and Aunt Edna. This was the book that changed my life forever and made me a published author. When Hero finally reached the bookstores, I was almost arrested for loitering in Walden’s. I stationed myself in the romance section and wouldn’t leave until I saw someone buy my book. It took three days!

I have heard so much about this series: The Black Dagger Brotherhood – all good things – so it has to be on my wishlist. I hope to buy Dark lover soon, which is the first book in the series.

Dark Lover
J. R. Ward (Piatkus)
Publication Date: 5 July 2007
Paperback: 416 pages
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Tags: Vampires

Goodreads Summary:

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

So what’s on your wishlist?

A lot of people don't like Dark Lover as much as the other JR Ward books, but I think it's awesome! I have reread this book a million times. It's a great start to the series.
