On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click here.(Idea inspired by The Story Siren)

This OMW post is a special edition as part of The ‘Men of Urban Fantasy’ Week. Therefore both books on my list this week are written by male urban fantasy writers.

I hadn’t heard of Charles de Lint until this week. Some say he’s urban fantasy, but others say he’s not. But I thought I would add him to my wishlist as it would be good to read one of his books. This one was recommended by Paul Magrs (author of Hell’s Bells)

Moonheart
Charles de Lint (Orb Books)
First Published: 1984
This Edition: 1994
Paperback: 447 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Goodreads Summary:

Sweeping from ancient Wales to the streets of Ottawa today, “Moonheart” entrances the reader with the tale of two young women who are drawn into an enchanted land after discovering artifacts.

This looks and sounds like a really great read – I’m love the cover too. I’ve seen this author and his books on other blogs and have always wanted to try them, so on my wishlist they went ;)

Skin Deep (Laura Blackstone #1)
Mark Del Franco D’Arc (ACE)
Publication Date: 28 July 2009
Paperback: 304 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Goodreads Summary:

Being an undercover agent has its occupational hazards, but Laura Blackstone makes it look easy. As a spy for a fey intelligence agency, she uses her magical abilities to create disguises that are skin deepglamours that must never be compromised. But when Laura’s worlds collide she’ll have more to worry about than retiring an identity; she may just lose her life.

What’s on your wishlist this week?

Charles De Lint is awesome, but some of his stuff is so dark that I have to really be in the mood for it.

Have you read anything by Nancy Springer? Hex Witch of Seldome, Apocalypse, and Fair Peril are all favorites of mine :)

I have the Laura Blackstone series on my wishing list already, Mark Del Franco has written an interesting perspective on using Fey glamour as a job asset..

Nice books. I have Skin Deep sitting on my shelf and Del Franco's Unshapely Things. I've never heard of Charles De Lint.

I'm a huge fan of Charles de Lint. None of his work ever disappoints (YA or adult). I hope you enjoy him too.
