On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. I hope you will join in! If you want to know more click here.

This is the first in the Gillian Key, ParaDoc series, and it looks really good. I love the cover, to me it gives off a science fiction vibe although the synopsis sounds like urban fantasy. I think this book will be added to my book collection sooner rather than later.
Key to Conflict
Talia Gryphon Huff (DAW)
Publication Date: 29 May 2007
Paperback: 336 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Goodreads Summary:
Meet Gillian Key a paramortal psychologist who can treat the mental distress of nonhumans. And she's a Marine Special Forces operative who can get physical with them when the situation calls for it. Books in Series Order:

I saw this book on another blog (unfortunately I can't remember which one, I really should write these things down). It sounds like a great urban fantasy read. This is the first book in The Bloodhound Files series. The cover is very atmospheric, love it.
Dying Bites
D. D. Barant (St. Martin's)
Publication Date: 30 June 2009
Paperback: 304 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Goodreads Summary:
Her job description is the “tracking and apprehension of mentally-fractured killers.” What this really means in FBI profiler Jace Valchek’s brave new world—one in which only one percent of the population is human—is that a woman’s work is never done. And real is getting stranger every day.
Jace has been ripped from her reality by David Cassius, the vampire head of the NSA. He knows that she’s the best there in the business, and David needs her help in solving a series of gruesome murders of vampires and werewolves. David’s world—one that also includes lycanthropes and golems—is one with little knowledge of mental illness. An insane serial killer is a threat the NSA has no experience with. But Jace does. Stranded in a reality where Bela Lugosi is a bigger box office draw than Bruce Willis and every full moon is Mardi Gras, Jace must now hunt down a fellow human before he brings the entire planet to the brink of madness. Or she may never see her own world again…
Books in Series Order:
1. Dying Bites
2. Death Blows

Now this sounds like a really good thriller/mystery novel. I love all things to do with Jack the Ripper, I know, I'm sick, but he fascinates me. Will definitely be getting this book very soon!
The Alchemy of Murder
Carol McCleary (Hodder)
Publication Date: 9 July 2009
Paperback: 416 pages
Genre: Thriller/Mystery
Book Depository Summary:
Paris 1889. The Alchemist is how I've come to think of him; he has a passion for the dark side of knowledge, mixing murder and madness with science. Nellie Bly -- reporter, feminist and amateur detective -- is in Paris on the trail of an enigmatic killer. The city is a dangerous place: an epidemic of Black Fever rages, anarchists plot to overthrow the government and a murderer preys on the prostitutes who haunt the streets of Montmartre. But it is also a city of culture, a magnet for artists and men of science and letters. Can the combined genius of Oscar Wilde, Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur help Nellie prove a match for Jack the Ripper?
So, what's on your wishlist this week?

I started reading the first of the Gillian Key books a while ago, as did a friend of mine. We gave up soon after - not very good at all, we thought.
But The Alchemy of Murder looks really good - will have to check that one out!
I love the cover on Key to Conflict! To bad you didn't enjoy it, Catherine.
Dying bites and The Alchemy of Murder will be added to my wishlist :) Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
I like the look of The Alchemy of Murder. Jack the Ripper fascinates me too.
I've read Dying Bites. It's a pretty good book, though a little different than your average urban fantasy. I reviewed it here http://mardel-rabidreader.blogspot.com/2009/08/review-dying-bites.html
There are descriptions of some pretty grisly, sadistic murders - just prepare yourself. I can't remember what I did with the book though. I might have given it away.
I haven't read the other two. I have read some pretty horrid reviews of Key to Conflict though. It seems like if you really, really, really LOVE the later Anita Blake books, you'll enjoy Key to Conflict. I heard that Talia Gryphon used to work for Laurell K Hamilton. Don't know if that's really true though. Apparently the books are similar in style. It'll be interesting to see your view of this book, if you end up buying and reviewing it.
Ooops, this is my first one... I am the David on the list. My blog name is "The War of Art"!
I agree that Alchemy looks good, and if you like the look of that check out The Alienist by Caleb Carr! Sorry to sound like a spambot, but I obviously liked it... *polishes username*
I'll have to keep my eyes open for The Alchemy of Murder. I haven't read anything directly about Jack the Ripper, but I can imagine that it would be fascinating.
Gillian Key book series sound fascinating choice!
I might have to check out Alchemy of Murder. Sounds intriguing and I hadn't heard of it before. And Jules Verne! How awesome! I see it's available in the US very shortly so I think I might add it to my wishlist.

A.F. Heart
These are all new to me authors but I really like the sound of the first two.
I must be sick too because I like stories based around Jack the RIpper too! LOL I'll have to find a copy of The Alchemy of Murder.
I have read both Dying Bites and Key to Conflict, but havent heard of the last one. I hope that you enjoy your books. Here's mine.
Nice picks! I'm curious about
Dying Bites also.
*coughs* Just linked up. Better late than never, right?
Nice! I never could get into the Gillian Key books. Dying Bites is one I have been meaning to get to.
Don't worry, Jack the Ripper fascinates me too. I really like it when Jack pops up in Karen Chance's series.
