On My Wishlist #17

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click here. (Idea inspired by The Story Siren)

This book looks and sounds really great – I’m loving the cover too, she looks pretty bad-arse in what seems to be leather trousers ;)

Once Bitten, Twice Dead
Bianca D’Arc (Brava)
Publication Date: 1 March 2010
Paperback: 370 pages
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Goodreads Summary:

When police officer Sarah Petit investigates a disturbance in an abandoned building, she expects to find a few underage drinkers. Instead, she’s attacked by creatures straight out of a horror movie. Waking a week later in a hospital, Sarah is visited by Special Forces soldier Captain Xavier Beauvoir. The zombies who attacked Sarah are the result of military research gone terrifyingly wrong, and Sarah’s immunity to the virus makes her the perfect person to help Xavier eradicate them. But his smooth Cajun accent, whiskey-colored eyes, and dizzying kiss are risky to her in a very different way.

Sarah attracts danger like a magnet–and the smart, fearless cop attracts Xavier too, instilling a bone-deep need that’s undermining his steady façade. Enlisting her aid is a necessary gamble, but vicious undead creatures are not the only enemy they face. And the only way to keep each other safe is to trust in an instant connection that could be their greatest strength–or the perfect way to destroy them both. . .

Unfortunately, I can’t find a summary for Torment - I really enjoyed Fallen so it doesn’t matter, I just know that I want to read this book! The cover is absolutely gorgeous and I would by this book for the cover alone!

Torment (Fallen #2)
Lauren Kate (Delacorte)
Publication Date: 28 Sept 2010
Hardback: 464 pages
Genre: Paranormal

Goodreads Summary:

There is no summary/synopsis as yet, that I can find.

Books in Series Order:

Fallen
Torment

This sounds so good! I was made aware of it by Kai (Fiction State of Mind) when we were both adding zombie books at the same time to our Goodreads. I will definitely be getting a copy when it’s published!

Brains: A Zombie Memoir
Robin Becker (Eos)
Publication Date: 1 June 2010
Paperback: 192 pages
Genre: Zombie Horror

Summary (Author Website):

Forget contemporary American literature–former college professor Jack Barnes has a new passion: Brains. It’s in his nature…he’s a zombie. But he’s not your normal, vacant-eyed, undead idiot. No, Jack Barnes has something most other victims of the zombie apocalypse don’t have: sentience. In fact, he can even write. And the story he has to tell is a truly disturbing–yet strangely heartwarming–one.

Convinced he’ll bring about a peaceful coexistence between zombies and humans if he can demonstrate his unique condition to the man responsible for the zombie virus, Howard Stein, Barnes sets off on a grueling cross-country journey to meet his maker. Along the way he meets more like him, rotting brain-eaters who have retained some sort of cognitive ability, and soon forms a small army that will stop at nothing to reach their goal. There’s Guts, the agile, dread-locked boy who can run like the wind; Joan, the matronly nurse adept at re-attaching rotting appendages; Annie, the young girl with a fierce quick-draw; and Ros, who can actually speak coherent sentences. Together they make their way through an eerie new world of roving zombie hunters, empty McMansions, and clogged highways on a quest to attain what all men, women–and apparently zombies–yearn for: equality.

So, what’s on your wishlist this week?

You do love reading books about zombies, aren't you?? Though I've to admit I love the sounds of Brain, A Zombie Memoir! I would really love to read Fallen and Torment as well. I heard that Fallen will be out in paperback in about 100 days so I seriously cannot wait for that. However, with its very nice cover, I do feel tempted to buy the book in hardback. Do you think it'll be worth it?

I think at times, you and I share a simular wave length. LOL, I happen to have Bianca D'arc on my wish list as well. Not the same books, although I would like to read the series you selected too. I hope that you will enjoy your books, when you get them. Here's mine.
