On My Wishlist (#34)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. If you want to know more click here.
As you can see 'On My Wishlist' has a new button! Please use for your 'OMW' post, click to copy larger version, then re-size it to the size you want :)

How cute does this book look?! I love a cosy mystery and this looks really fun!
How To Host A Killer Party (Party Planning Mystery #1)
Penny Warner (Penguin)
Publication Date: Feb 2010 (US)
Genre: Mystery

Goodreads Summary:
Presley Parker was just happy to get her party planning business off the ground. Now she's gotten the gig of the year, planning Mayor Davin Green's sumptuous "surprise" wedding for his socialite fiancée, to be held on Alcatraz. But when the bride is found floating in the bay and the original party planner is found murdered, Presley becomes the prime suspect. If the attractive crime scene cleaner, Brad Matthews, doesn't help her tidy her reputation, she'll be exchanging her formal wear for prison stripes...

As most of my readers know by now, I succumbed to reading romance a month or so ago - so far I have tried paranormal, historical and contemporary romance, but this sub-genre is very new to me: western romance. So, I thought I would add a few to my wishlist, and this is one of them - well, now I've taken the leap, I might as well try everything! :)
My Give A Damn's Busted
Carolyn Brown (Sourcebooks)
Publication Date: Oct 2010 (US)
Genre: Western Romance

Goodreads Summary:
The latest in a line of (formerly) unlucky in love ladies to run the Honky Tonk, Larissa Morley is ready to show the world she means business! But trouble walks into her happy life when tall, handsome and rich Hank Wells shows up at her bar determined to see the doors of the Honky Tonk closed for good. With her happiness on the line, Larissa will stop at nothing to save her beloved bar. Honky Tonk patrons and readers alike are in for one heck of a sexy showdown as these two lovers face off!

I'm not sure if this is Romantic Suspense with paranormal elements or just straight RS, but it's under both genres on Goodreads - either way it's sounds like a pretty good read.
Cold Sight (Extra Sensory Agents #1)
Leslie Parrish (Signet)
Publication Date: July 2010 (US)
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Goodreads Summary:
After being made a scapegoat in a botched investigation that led to a child's death, Aidan McConnell became a recluse. Still, as a favor to an old friend, Aidan will help on the occasional XI case. But under his handsome, rugged facade, he keeps his emotions in check--for fear of being burned again.
Reporter Lexie Nolan has a nose for news--and she believes a serial killer has been targeting teen girls around Savannah. But no one believes her. So she turns to the new paranormal detective agency and the sexy, mysterious Aidan for help. But just as the two begin forging a relationship, the case turns eerily personal for Lexie--and Aidan discovers that maybe he hasn't lost the ability to feel after all...

This sounds and looks great - it's the first book in the series. I keep finding new-to-me series and adding them to my wishlist and yet I have so many to begin, or finish, on my shelves!!
Any Given Doomsday (The Phoenix Chronicles #1)
Lori Handeland (St Martin's Press)
Publication Date: Nov 2008 (US)
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Goodreads Summary:
Elizabeth Phoenix once used her unique skills as a psychic to help in the Milwaukee Police Department’s fight against injustice. But when Liz’s foster mother is found viciously murdered—and Liz is discovered unconscious at the scene—her only memory of the crime comes in the form of terrifying dreams...of creatures more horrific than anything Liz has seen in real life. What do these visions mean? And what in the world do they have to do with her former lover, Jimmy Sanducci?
While the police question Jimmy in the murder, Jimmy opens Liz’s eyes to a supernatural war that has raged since the dawn of time in which innocent people are hunted by malevolent beings disguised as humans. Only a chosen few have the ability to fight their evil, and Jimmy believes Liz is among them. Now, with her senses heightened, new feelings are rising within Liz—ones that re-ignite her dangerous attraction to Jimmy. But Jimmy has a secret that will rock Liz to her core…and put the survival of the human race in peril.

The Penny Warner book is excellent. I've had the pleasure of meeting her in person; she's delightful.
Here's what I'm wishing for this week.
Great choices! Three of those are on my wishlist :) except the western one
Cold Sight and Any Given Doomsday sound like books I'd like to read. Thanks for sharing.
How To host a killer part seems fun and intriguing. I will add it to my TBR.

I love Lori Handeland's Nightcreature books, I can't wait to get started on her Phoenix Chronicles! I own the first 4 books, guess I'd better get reading them! HAHA!
Any Given Doomsday is really good, I think you will like it.
Some interesting books on your list and yet more to add to my book-buying obsession!
