Lilith Saintcrow’s Top 10 Favourites + Giveaway of Strange Angels, Betrayal & Jealousy (ends 03/09/10)
I have the pleasure of welcoming author Lili St. Crow to the blog today. Lili is the author of the Strange Angels paranormal young adult series. Due to Lili’s ultra busy schedule, we decided to do a quick Q&A session of her favourite things. So, please give her a warm welcome.
Welcome to Book Chick City Lilith – this is your second time at BCC and it’s lovely to have you back!
Hello! It’s nice to be back.
Ok, here we go…
1. Favourite Country?
I’d live in France, if I could. And not just for the food! But America’s nice too, and the UK. It’s hard to have a favorite.
2. Favourite Word?
I really can’t decide. I love words; our little family plays with words the way some other families play with footballs. Right now my son is enamored of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, and my daughter likes “antidisestablismentarianism”. The most interesting word I’ve come across lately is “fantod”.
3. Favourite Food?
Again, there’s too many to choose! I’m a big fan of Thai food–drunken noodles with tofu are my favorite, and I haven’t met a single Indian dish I don’t like (with enough naan). Right at the moment, however, I’m craving pistachio gelato.
4. Favourite Drink?
Water with a squirt of Key Lime juice. With espresso shots as a close second.
5. Favourite Book?
I hate to sound like a broken record…but there’s just so many! If I could take one book to a desert island for the rest of my life, it would have to be Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. If I could take two, it would be Gibbon, and Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre. Jane is a comfort read for me. Right now I’m reading a book titled Nabokov, Perversely, and enjoying it quite a bit. I just finished Dan Simmons’s Drood, and enjoyed that as well.
6. Favourite Animal?
That’s easy. Crows. Or any member of the Corvidae family. Smart, savvy survivors, and so good-natured.
7. Favourite City?
Paris. The city I have the most connection with, though, is probably Seattle.
8. Favourite way to travel?
By train, if I have to travel at all. I loathe the indignities visited on one before one boards a plane, but the actual flight isn’t so bad. All the same, though, I’d rather take the train, or drive myself.
9. Favourite place to write?
Anyplace I can settle down. When I’m writing, the outside world doesn’t matter. I’m virtually blind to it. Right now I’ve my laptop set up so I can look out my front window and see my street, but it might as well be the moon for all I pay attention to it while writing.
10. Favourite time of day?
I do have an unqualified favorite time of day–dusk, when the sky is that very deep, aching blue. Usually dinner is done by then, and everyone is settled down, and I have a long period in which to work uninterrupted.
Thanks Lilith and best of luck with Jealousy!
