'The Blogger's Bookshelf' featuring Natasha from Wicked Little Pixie

The Blogger's Bookshelf is a regular fortnightly feature here at Book Chick City. It's where we get to tour each others bookshelves... and drool a little ;) I can't help but love these kind of posts, being kinda nosy an' all, however it always ends up with me being completely green with envy! There are some great posts coming up, so I hope you enjoy. You can view the full schedule HERE.
Today I welcome Natasha from Wicked Little Pixie...
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Once upon a time I had an excel spreadsheet of every single book I owned…. And then I started blogging, more & more books piled into my teeny little room. I started with one small bookshelf, now I am up to three which are all full. I’ve decided I may eventually die in a bookshelf melt down, I fear for my life. I hold hope that my Ikea assembly skills are up to par. If not, I will be smothered and/or crushed. Pray for me people, I am afraid.
Now I’m not going to pull the wool over your eyes, like I am sure almost every single other blogger has (fibbers the lot of you!)…..my bookshelves do not look like this normally:
Nor does it look like this:
Or like this:
Oh no my friends, my bookshelves only look like that for YOUR benefit. Lets be honest with each other, especially those of us who have a book addiction…there is NO WAY your bookshelves look like that on a daily basis every single day. Right? Admit it with me, your bookshelves look more like.. umm this:
Not so bad right? Oh but my friends, it can only get worse.
Yes I am coming “clean” to you all, my bookshelves (all 3 of them) have double duty as storage shelves for every single little thing my lazy self can’t seem to find another place for.
When I started reading, even up until my first review copy hit my shelf…there was order. Pfft. Order exists there now, but it’s an order even I can’t seem to follow. “Oh there’s an inch of free space, shove books there”.
So there you have it, I have confessed & shown your proof. I am embarrassed but I’ll live…unless those shelves start coming down. Now please excuse me, I must clean those babies…they scare me. Thank you Carolyn for having me & making me feel the need to organize, but do you want to come over & help me out?

Love it! I think this is my favorite feature! LOL...I know what you mean about bookshelves crushing you. Hubby actually secured mine to the wall since he was worries it would fall and kill someone. *snicker*
As usual the nail was hit on the head with one quote out of WLP's reveal: "my bookshelves (all 3 of them) have double duty as storage shelves for every single little thing my lazy self can’t seem to find another place for." This is a true statement for my TBR shelves right now. The books themselves are organized by author and type but the rest of the stuff is my cross-stitch and scrapbook for my bookmarks and my mailing envelopes and more and more. We are all guilty of not having a "space" for things that have nothing to do with the actual books that should be the only thing gracing the shelves!
I love the pictures Nat and Caroline, thanks for making this fun to come check out again!
jackie ^_^
Very funny! Thank you for sharing....
Thanks for sharing! I'm very picky about my bookcases. I only have 2 tall ones, both in my bedroom. For some reason, the kids think they can put their toys and DVDs on them. Uh, I don't think so! I know what you mean about them being messy and using up every available inch! I was just forced to re-organize my shelves and I'm glad I did. They look much better. Though I'm not sure how long that'll last....
+JMJ+
Now I no longer feel so bad about my messy shelves! My books may be standing or stacked in a very organised way, but the extra shelf space in front of them serves double duty as storage for everything else that I haven't found a proper place for.
Thanks for sharing your shelves, Natasha! =)
Awesome books you got on your shelves Natasha! And i completely agree with you! No one has a nice kept bookshelf for long! Everyone has a mess! XD
He he love it!
I so did tidy my bookshelves before I did this feature, because they are so NEVER that tidy! ;)
Your feature really made me smile!
LOL! My bookshelves look like that last photo! Only I also have blue ikea carryall bags full of books propping it up...
I love your shelves Nat! Admittedly I am kinda anal when it comes to my shelves, so they are tidy on a daily basis...and living with my OCD (at least I think he is) neat-freak husband, who can't stand to see a *single* piece of paper sitting about, makes it easy to keep my shelves clean! Luckily my book shelves only do the duty of actually holding books, however they are double stacked, double faced and the shelves have begun to sag in quite a scary manner...might be time for a trip to Ikea myself! HAHA!
My shelves happen to be clean, but we won't talk about the floor that has books piled everywhere because there is no room on the shelves anymore! LOL
I love looking at people's shelves! Ms. Book Chick City even inspired me to do a feature like this on my blog! LOL
Is it wrong that of the 3 bookcases and 2 shelves that I have, only one of them gets used as additional storage and I do have an organizational plan on them. Granted, it's not the same as when I started blogging, but there is one. *grin*
Love the shelves Nat! Did you end up finding anything you had forgotten you had?
stupid comment posted before I was ready *grrr*
@ kris - I am sure my wall would come down with all my books! lol
@jackie - One of these days I will win the lottery & have a room devoted to books, I swear it.
@Julie - Thanks for visiting
@thebookvixen - Wanna come over & clean mine?
@enbrethiliel - There just isn't enough room anymore is there ;)
@euphoria - Thanks :) I love my babies, I mean books! lol
@Laura - You cheated! LOL
@Tessa - I never did get around to cleaning ;)
@amy - you aren't that far away, send hubby to organize would ya?
@Amy J - I have books EVERYWHERE, it scares me! lol
@Jackie - I didn't clean them Jackie, I lied to you all! LOL
I just adore checking out everyone's shelves. I didn't do any cleaning for my post...but I'm generally very organized. :)
LOL! Love the post and the honesty! Yeah...definitely the reason why I don't share a picture of my um.."shelves". They've out grown them and then some...yep, got some major sorting to do myself, but it's so hard to part with the ones you love! *hugs book stacks* ^_^
