On My Wishlist (#35)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. If you want to know more click here.

I've seen this authors books quite a bit on other blogs, so I thought I would add one to my list. The covers pretty cool too! Have you read this one - any good?
Through the Veil (Veil #1)
Shiloh Walker (Berkely)
Publication Date: June 2008 (US)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Goodreads Summary:
Lee Ross always knew she was not entirely human. But when the man who has plagued her dreams her entire life appears in the flesh, can she give up everything she knows to follow him to another realm?

This book sounds really good. I'm sure I've read somewhere that this is the first in a series. I have this author's sci-fi books on my shelf which I really should read before heading out and buying this one...
Ghost of A Chance
Simon R. Green (Ace)
Publication Date: Aug 2010 (US)
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Goodreads Summary:
The Carnacki Institute exists to "Do Something" about Ghosts-and agents JC Chance, Melody Chambers, and Happy Jack Palmer will either lay them to rest, send them packing, or kick their nasty ectoplasmic arses with extreme prejudice.

Another great sounding Urban Fantasy!
Brooklyn Knight
C. J. Henderson (Tor Books)
Publication Date: Jan 2010 (US)
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Goodreads Summary:
Professor Piers Knight is an esteemed curator at the Brooklyn Museum and is regarded by many on the staff as a revered institution of his own if not an outright curiosity. Knight’s portfolio includes lost civilizations; arcane cultures, languages, and belief; and more than a little bit of the history of magic and mysticism. What his contemporaries don't know is that in addition to being a scholar of all things ancient he is schooled in the uses of magical artifacts, the teachings of forgotten deities, and the threats of unseen dangers.
If a mysterious object surfaces, Professor Knight makes it his job to figure it out--and make sure it stays out of dangerous hands. A contemporary on an expedition in the Middle East calls Knight's attention to a mysterious object in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum … just before it becomes the target of a sorcerous attack that leads to a siege on a local precinct house by a fire elemental. What looks like an ordinary inscribed stone may unlock an otherworldly Armageddon that certain dark powers are all too eager to bring about--and only Piers Knight stands in their way.

This sounds so good! I'm reading through the Darkest Powers trilogy now - I think this is a spin off from that. Looking forward to this one!
The Gathering (Darkness Rising #1)
Kelley Armstrong (Harper Collins)
Publication Date: April 2011 (US) & (UK)
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Young Adult
Goodreads Summary:
Maya lives in a small medical-research town on Vancouver Island. How small? You can’t find it on the map. It has less than two-hundred people, and her school has only sixty-eight students—for every grade from kindergarten to twelve.
Now, strange things are happening in this claustrophobic town, and Maya's determined to get to the bottom of them. First, the captain of the swim team drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. A year later, mountain lions start appearing around Maya's home, and they won’t go away. Her best friend, Daniel, starts getting negative vibes from certain people and things. It doesn't help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret—and he's interested in one special part of Maya's anatomy: Her paw-print birthmark.
