CRESCENDO UK Blog Tour: Exclusive Q&A with Becca Fitzpatrick & Giveaway!

I am very excited to be kicking off the Crescendo Blog Tour here in the UK. To see who’s involved in this tour check out the banner on my sidebar and for further information read my event announcement post.
I really enjoyed Hush Hush and will have a review of Crescendo soon, so keep an eye out for that in November. In the meantime please give a warm welcome to Becca, who was kind enough to answer a few questions…

BCC: For those who are not familiar with your Hush Hush series, can you give a bit of background to your books?
Becca: Sure! HUSH, HUSH is the first book in the series, and it’s a sexy and twisty story about a sixteen-year-old girl who falls for a fallen angel with a dark agenda to become human. Think paranormal romantic suspense for teens.
BCC: Crescendo is due out in the UK this October, are you working on a third for the series? Also, are you working on anything separate to the Hush Hush series?
Becca: Something may be in the works, but people will just have to wait to find out… I am such a tease!
BCC: How do you like to relax when not writing?
Becca: I enjoy running…on second thought, I’m not sure that counts, since I do most of my book plotting while I’m running! I also like digging around in the dirt and planting things (I’m not sure I’m good enough to call myself a “gardener”), swimming with my kids, going out to dinner with my husband, and reading in bed late at night.
BCC: Where is your favourite place to write and do you have a favourite time of day?
Becca: I typically write in my study. It’s a small room with three windows, two bookshelves and one near-dead plant. I prefer writing in the morning when my mind is fresh and I can still remember last night’s dreams (always helpful in sparking ideas), but I’d say ninety percent of my writing happens at night, after my kids have gone to bed.
BCC: After the release of Hush Hush, were you surprised at the amount of buzz it accumulated around the blogosphere? At times it was almost frenzied!
Becca: *Laughing…* more like I was shocked! Everything about becoming published has been a surprise. I distinctly remember the day my agent called to say she’d sold HUSH, HUSH to Simon & Schuster. After I hung up, I started reading through the many, many rejection letters I’d accumulated before that point. I kept thinking, “Is it really true? Does someone really want to publish my book?” I’d spent five years hearing no, no and definitely no, so that one yes blindsided me. It was a delightful and dizzying shock.
BCC: What’s your favourite movie?
Becca: Favorites are so hard! I’m the kind of person who constantly changes her mind, so getting me to nail myself to one thing is tricky. But today….I’ll say…Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth. Or maybe The Waitress. Or Better off Dead. Or Romancing the Stone. As a back-up, I’ll throw out Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
BCC: Your favourite song?
Becca: I love the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. I also love just about anything by The Rolling Stones.
BCC: What about your favourite food?
Becca: An easy question! Ice cream, hands down.
BCC: Who’s your favourite author?
Becca: GAH! These favorites are killer! Jane Austen is always a favorite. Same with Sandra Brown.
BCC: And lastly your favourite book?
Becca: SPEAK by Laurie Halse Anderson is one of my all-time faves. It was the book that turned me to YA fiction.

Mmm, my favorite movie is definitely "The Lovely Bones". I loved that movie, it made me cry badly but it was worth it.
Favorite song so far I'm torn between Emily Not, Not Gone by Cemetery Sighs and Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. What's funny is that both some are soooo not the same, one is dark and the other is so light and much fun.
And my favorite food is chicken and rice, but the rice is green and have some vegetables. Very yummy!

What a wonderful contest! I have a favourite song it's called Shalott by Emilie Autumn it's based on a poem the Lady of Shalott. Where a girl is locked up in a tower and can't get out alive. If she leaves the tower she dies.

I don't really have a favorite movie… I don't rewatch movies often but I do go back and see Donnie Darko from time to time…
My favorite food right now is everything Peruvian that I can't eat now that I'm in Spain (Chirimoya, Lúcuma, choclo, Ceviche, Ají de Gallina, Inca Kola, Anticuchos…) Oh, no… now I'm hungry again…

I have a lot of favorite movies, but I absolutely love the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
As for favorite food, I don't have a specific favorite, but I like anything with meat and prefer it spicy:)

Love the interview…I just love seeing how writers go about writing with their everyday lives!
Favourite movie: I really do love Keira Knightley's 'Pride & Prejudice'. There's just something about Matthew McFayden playing Darcy that works for me. I could watch it all day long. Or 'The Wedding Date' with Debra Messing.
Favourite Song: Hands down, wins all the time for me, 'Aquarius' by Within Temptation. But I've recently discovered a band called Hurts and I love 'Illuminated'…it's closing in at a very tight second.
Favourite food: Anything Mexican really but I do love me a good chilli con carne.

At last! stuck all day in school with access to blogs denied… such torment! Such anguish!
Fave movie- The Color Purple- I love this film, It pierces my heart everytime I watch it- how can one woman endure so much and still hold on to her sanity?
Fave food… Paella, I could happily spend all afternoon cooking this and then beam as my guests tell me that it's the best ever!
Fave song- Puppy Love – Donny Osmond- followed closely by I think its going to rain by Bette Midler…
Fave book- well most recent , whilst waiting for Crescendo- The Help, why? I guess because it serves as a reminder to us all of human strengths and weaknesses towards one another.

Favourite song at the moment: Paramore – 'The Only Exception' I can relate to it a lot, have a listen.
Favourite food – chimichanga with extra guacamole, makes me feel at home.
Favourite Movie – gotta be Howel's Moving Castle by Studio Ghibli; beautiful story.

One of my favorite foods is a typical spanish dish: the bread with tomato and jambon, mmm. Delicious!
A song..for esample: "Save me" by Aimee Mann. And a film, I loved very much "My sassy girl" a korean film. I recommend it!

Appointing favorites is always tricky.
I have many favorite movies, but I'll pick Cinema Paradiso and Life Is Beautiful.
Naming my favorite song is even harder… I'm going to go with Landslide (the Smashing Pumpkins' version), Desarm also by The Smashing Pumpkins and Better Man by Pearl Jam.

Favourite movie? There are just so many, but I'll say from period drama "North & South" with Richard Armitage, sci-fi: District 9, fantasy: Stardust and romantic comedy "Only You" with Marisa Tomei & Robert Downey Jr.
Favourite song: so many, but I'd say Thirteen Horses by Alexander Rybak – one of the saddest songs… I also love The Requiem for a Dream Theme song!

My favourite movie is definitely Inglourious Basterds. I have a liking for every Tarantino movie though. I also liked The Expendables a lot.
Favourite song… I'm stuck between "Jolene" cover by The White Stripes, "Rocket Queen" by Guns n' Roses, "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam and "Jaded" by Green Day (I admit it, I'm a music junkie!). But… I think "Jolene" is my all-time favourite.
