On My Wishlist (#41)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click here.

I came across this book while perusing Goodreads. This looks so good, it has everything I like: the paranormal, the historical and romance! :)

Kiss of the Rose (The Tudor Vampire Chronicles #1)
Kate Pearce (Signet)
Publication Date: Aug 2010

Genre: Paranormal/Historical Romance

Goodreads Summary:

Desperate to defeat King Richard III and gain the crown, Henry Tudor made a pact with the Druids binding him and his heirs to the Druids’ struggle against vampires. Ever since, the Llewellyns, a vampire- slaying family, have been in the king’s employ. Now Henry VIII reigns, and his father’s bargain has been almost forgotten-until bloodless corpses turn up in the king’s bedchamber. To save the king, Vampire hunter Rosalind Llewellyn must form an uneasy alliance with Druid slayer Sir Christopher Ellis. But soon, Rosalind must face an unthinkable truth: that her sworn enemy may be her soulmate…

How good does this sound – I haven’t come across this series before – I love it when that happens in a genre I love! :)

Urban Shaman (Walker Papers #1)
C. E. Murphy (Luna)
Publication Date: June 2005

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Goodreads Summary:

Joanne Walker has three days to learn to use her shamanic powers and save the world from the unleashed Wild Hunt. No worries. No pressure. Never mind the lack of sleep, the perplexing new talent for healing from fatal wounds, or the cryptic, talking coyote who appears in her dreams. And if all that’s not bad enough, in the three years Joanne’s been a cop, she’s never seen a dead body — but she’s just come across her second in three days.

It’s been a bitch of a week. And it isn’t over yet.

After finding the above new-to-me series by this author I thought I would check out what else I had missed, and I found this series too :)

Heart of Stone (Negotiator Trilogy #1)
C. E. Murphy (Luna)
Publication Date: Nov 2007

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Goodreads Summary:

Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn’t a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she’d encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings – not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands.

Her logical, lawyer instincts told her it couldn’t all be real – but she could hardly deny what she’d seen – and touched. The mystery man, Alban, was a gargoyle. One of the fabled Old Races who had hidden their existence for centuries. Now he was a murder suspect, and he needed Margrit’s help to take the heat off him and find the real killer. And as the dead pile up, it’s a race against the sunrise to clear Alban’s name and keep them both alive.

I've read the first three Walker Paper books and thought they have a different slant on the Urban Fantasy genre – definitely good books to read!. Heart of Stone is currently on my TBR pile as well…

I just bought Kiss of the Rose last weekend. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but it has to be amazing. Nothing is better than Tudor England and Vampires. I'm hoping for something along the lines of the Tudors on Showtime. If you check out Kate Pearce's site it says that she's writing six books, one for each of Henry's Queens. The cover for Anne Boleyn looks awesome! :)
