On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click HERE.
**This week, as part of my ALL HALLOWS EVE event, I am posting a Special Vampire Edition of On My Wishlist!**
This sounds like an interesting read…
The Hunger (Hunger #1)
Whitley Strieber (Pocket)
Publication Date: March 2001
Eternal youth is a wonderful thing for the few who have it, but for Miriam Blaylock, it is a curse–an existence marred by death and sorrow. Because for the everlasting Miriam, everyone she loves withers and dies. Now, haunted by signs of her adoring husband’s imminent demise, Miriam sets out in search of a new partner, one who can quench her thirst for love and withstand the test of time. She finds it in the beautiful Sarah Roberts, a brilliant young scientist who may hold the secret to immortality. But one thing stands between the intoxicating Miriam Blaylock and the object of her desire: Dr. Tom Haver…and he’s about to realize that love and death go hand in hand.
I love this cover! I’ve only read a few Laymon books, and the last one I read I didn’t really enjoy, but that won’t stop me from trying all the others – this one looks and sounds good!
Richard Laymon (Headline/Leisure Books)
Publication Date: 1996/1999
Sam hasn’t seen his first love, Cat, for 10 years. But now she’s back and is asking for help to kill a vampire. Sam doesn’t believe in vampires, but he does believe the marks on Cat’s body. Are they self-inflicted, or is there really a vampire?
I like YA every now and then and this sounds SO good – want it now!
Kate Cary (Razorbill)
Publication Date: Aug 2006
Thirty-five years have passed since the death of the Master. But now a new evil walks among the living. . . .
When nineteen-year-old John Shaw returns from the trenches of World War I, he is haunted by nightmares—not only of the battlefield, but of the strange, cruel and impossible feats of his regiment’s commander, Quincey Harker. Harker’s ferocity knows no limits, and his strength is superhuman.
At first John blames his bloody nightmares on trench fever. But when Harker appears in England and begins wooing John’s sister, John must confront the truth—and stop Harker from continuing Dracula’s bloodline.
This is a re-release and the cover caught my eye – definitely want to read this one, and soon!
I, Strahd: Memoirs of a Vampire
P. N. Elrod (Wizards of the Coast)
Publication Date: Nov 2006
A re-release of a haunting vampire tale from best-selling author P.N. Elrod.
This striking new re-release of I, Strahd: Memoirs of a Vampire, a novel by well-known vampire author P.N. Elrod, features all new cover art and a new trade paperback size. This re-release is intended to introduce new readers to the author and showcase one of her early titles to her avid fans.
P.N. “Pat” Elrod got her start in professional writing began at TSR doing gaming modules. A lifelong fan of vampire stories, gangster films, and pulp magazines, she combined all three into The Vampire Files, featuring the undead detective Jack Fleming. She also wrote the Jonathan Barrett: Gentleman Vampire series, edited Time of the Vampires with Martin H. Greenberg, and has contributed to several other anthologies. She collaborated with actor Nigel Bennett (LaCroix of TV’s Forever Knight) on a series of vampire novels, beginning with Keeper of the King.
This sounds like it would be a really fun read and I love the cover too – a great combination, so on my wishlist it went!
The Cowboy and the Vampire
Clark Hays, Kathleen McFall (Midnight Ink)
Publication Date: Oct 2010
Genre: Paranormal, Romantic Mystery
Reporter Lizzy Vaughn doesn’t realize it, but she has 2,000 years of royal Vampiric blood coursing though her veins. Neither she nor Tucker, her cowboy lover of six months, has any idea that Julius, the leader of the undead, has a diabolical plan to reign over Darkness for all eternity—with Lizzy at his side. Julius’ Vampire consort, Elita, is so furious she doesn’t know whom to destroy first.
When Lizzy and Tucker find themselves caught up in a Vampire war, pursued by hordes of Julius’ maniacal and bloodthirsty followers, Tucker gets his gun, his dog, and a couple of ragtag cowhands, and prepares to fight. Lizzy, who doesn’t want to be Queen of the Vampires, (or as she calls them, “bloodsucking, crazy freaks”) is locked in a battle for her life—and her soul.
Who will be left when the sun rises?
So that’s what’s on my wishlist this week – what’s on yours?
