Sign Up: Horror & Urban Fantasy Reading Challenge 2011!
Horror & Urban Fantasy Reading Challenge 2011!
Welcome to the Horror & Urban Fantasy Reading Challenge 2011! I love horror, it's one of my favourite genres and I adore urban fantasy too - I have so many books in both genres on my shelves. So, I decided I would create a reading challenge which combined my two favourite genres. I hope you will join in!

Sign Up Details
To sign up you MUST make a post on your blog about participating in the challenge - you then use the URL of the post to sign up to the challenge by adding it to Mr Linky below. DO NOT just add your blog URL - this will be deleted.
You must add the button to your sidebar - make sure that it links back to this post so others can join the challenge if they wish. Easiest way to do this is to copy and paste the code displayed below!
Challenge Details
• Timeline: 01 Jan 2011 - 31 Dec 2011
• Rules: To read TWENTY FOUR (24) horror & urban fantasy novels in 2011 (24 is the minimum but you can read more if you wish!)
• You don't have to select your books ahead of time, you can just add them as you go. Also if you do list them upfront you can change them, nothing is set in stone! The books you choose can crossover into other challenges you have on the go.
• You can join anytime.
• At the beginning of Jan 2011, you will find a link to add your reviews.
• You don't have to have a blog to join in - for those without a blog just FILL IN THIS FORM and I will add you to the list - just join the discussion in the comments section to let us know when you've read a book and what you thought of it! :)
If you have trouble adding your URL link below, please email me the name you want posted below with your URL link and I will add it for you.

This challenge sounds great! I'll definitely sign-up!
Button is on my sidebar and I will post at lunch. My goal is over 50 anyhow. ;)
This challenge is very good!
I love urban fantasy and horror novels!
I'm so glad you started this challenge. Can't wait to get started!
Nice! I'm definitely in;)Horror and Urban Fantasy is my favorite genre so I'm pretty excited for this challenge! Thanks for putting this together.
You buttons are always awesome!
I agree -- love the buttons!
I'm in too! I'm not so much into horror, but I love Urban Fantasy books! =)
Sweet contest. I'm in! Should hit 24 without any problems. I'm interested in seeing what my final number will be! Nice work on the button too.
So I have a question: I'd like to participate but I like to list all of my challenges under one post because I like having a link to just that one post on my header. Is that a problem or do I have to do an individual post to participate? I find it makes me more likely to stay current if I only have one post because I can update the many challenges I like to participate in at one time instead of sorting through five different posts to do it.
HI EVERYONE - THANKS FOR SIGNING UP FOR THE CHALLENGE!!
Wonderbunny - having one post for all challenges is a great idea, so as long as you link a post with the challenge listed then that's fine - thanks :)
This is right up my street! Really excited to be taking part!
Love the challenge!!! Urban Fantasy is my absolute fave so this shouldn't be too hard ; )
Love the challenge! I'm in (:
Love the horror/fantasy genres, looking forward to the challange!!
This challenge is so cool, I immediatly joined!! Can't wait to start this challenge
This sounds like fun!
I don't read a lot of horor, but I do read a lot of UF so I should be able to get 24 read on one year.
Rats, I put the wrong URL. I will come back later, add the right URL and repost.
Sorry!
Super Fab! My favorite genres!!! Thank you for organizing!
Woo hoo! I'm in then, thanks!
I CAN'T WAIT TO START THIS CHALLENGE - I'M SO PLEASED YOU'VE ALL SIGNED UP - SHOULD BE FUN! :D
I'm in!
I put the button link on my side bar and I've posted!!!!
this is going to be fun!
Woohooo count me in! I am off to add my post now. :)
I am in. I already posted it on my blog :D
Amy and Jenn are VERY excited for this challenge. WHOO HOOO!
I LOVE UF! I'm in! Thank you for hosting!
This is the perfect challenge for me! Can't wait. I am adding to my blog now and challenge list :)
Charlie
Bitsy Bling Books
I signed up! I did however put the wrong link in my first linky, so if you'd delete that I'd appreciate it!!
I am new to challenges so what all do I need to do after I read a book, write a small review and put it in the post on my blog?? Sorry for the questions!!
This sounds great! I can't wait to start. C:
I don't read much horror and urban fantasy, but I've been wanting to change that. Great challenge!
I signed up immediately (especially after seeing the button) in spite of my grand idea to read other genres in 2011 after doing the Spec Fiction (aka paranormal romance and urban fantasy) challenge this year. Thanks for hosting the excellent challenges!
This looks great. I'm definitely signing up!
I am a big fan of Urban Fantasy, but my horror reading experiences have been limited to Stephen King and Joe Hill.
So doing this!! looks fun and I am also doing the Stephan king challenge as well :)
Totally signed up love that button. Probably going to sign up for the mystery/suspense too, debating.
I also signed up. Though my blogg is in Norwegian :) Hope it´s okay :) Looking forward to this challenge :)
Great Challenge! I'm in =D
This challenge sounds good, I'm up for it. :)
This challenge sounds like a lot of fun. I can't wait to start.
This challenge should be a cake walk for me. :)
This is going to be so much fun. :)
I'm in! Sounds like a great excuse to go buying horror books to me.
Here's a question: do books like Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan, Cherie Priest's Boneshaker, and the Parasol Protectorate series fit under "urban fantasy"? (I'd be tempted to argue that steampunk could be said to be Victorian-ish urban fantasy...)
It's doable, thanks for hosting!
I can't believe I didn't make my post public when I first signed up. Sorry about that! I'm ready now. :)
Just signed up! Can't wait. Love these genre's :)
I'm totally going to do this!
SO PLEASED YOU ALL LIKE THE CHALLENGE - THANKS FOR SIGNING UP! :D
I have signed up for this challenge again. This genre is my favorite and I am looking forward to participating. I tried to add the code for the button but it would not work so I copied and pasted it.
oops. I made a mistake. I was trying to add a comment for the post on the mystery challenge
I read a lot of UF last year and ended up enjoying it. Great challenge!
Thanks for hosting this challenge!:)
First challenge!
Gotta get those Anne Rice off the abandoned shelf.
I am in. How can I resist a horror challenge? LOL Let's hope I do better than I did this year.
Not sure I'll make it but I'm definately trying!
i also have a little taste for horror novels so i am definitely in. this is the first time i am entering any challenge. i hope i do good enough...
i also have a taste for horror novels so i am definitely in. this is the first time i am entering in any challenge so i hope for the best...
I love these books, so should be no bother :D
Looking forward to this!
Although I think I can do better, 24 seems like a good goal - I'd rather surpass my expectations than be dissapointed in my reading.
Another great challenge!
I can't get enough horror!
I have become totally hooked on urban fantasy, so this will be a great challenge.
Now to post the buttons.
This sounds great. Ive been looking for this kind of challenge.
All signed up and the button is in my side bar.
I´m in! Love this challenge!
I do reviews on two sites, can I sign them both up? And do I need to read different books for them if I do?
This is one I'm looking forward to. Already read a lot of UF/horror. Time to break into the more horror classics.
First book down and reviewed. Second is almost done.
Crimson Wind by Diana Pharaoh Francis
Review was posted as a guest review on Wicked Lil Pixie here...
http://wickedlilpixie.com/2011/01/06/guest-reviewer-zombie-joe-talks-crimson-wind-by-diana-pharaoh-francis/
About half-way through Green Eyed Demon by Jaye Wells and nearly done with Blood Rites by Jim Butcher.
This will be fun! I just hope that I signed up right!
I'm in for this, will put button on my sidebar and post. :)
Fabulous. I'm in! I managed 32 urban fantasy in 2010, so I'm hoping I can manage at least 24 in 2011. (No horror over here though).
I agree with the love of the sidebar button. It's up over at my blog. :)
Hehe - this makes the third challenge that I'm signing up for! I'm glad this contributes to the 100 book challenge, or I'd be in trouble :D
Thank you again - I'm going to enjoy this!
Sounds very challenging. Now I have to figure out how to put the button in my sidebar (I just started my blog and have never done this before).
Where were we to be posting the URLs to the reviews we're doing for this? I finished the second review already.
I signed up under 100 books (general) but probably (more suitably) belong here ... linked to both challenges from my blog: http://vampirereview.blogspot.com/.
Anybody wanting to get their hands on Ravena & The Resurrected (eBook) ... dark urban vampire fiction with LOTS of Seattle, modern and historic, in it to review ... just contact me. SunTigerMOJO [at] gmail [dot] com.
To see what R&R is about, visit: http://tinyurl.com/4dbt7bl or go to the publisher's website: http://SunTigerMOJO.com
*If you are a published author with a vampire book that needs review contact me. I'll RTF!
I'm in!
This is the first challenge of the year that I'm signing up for. Might be the only one, after last year's epic failure. LOL.
But this is one challenge that I can really relate to, any way.
Thanks for hosting!
Oh, this is an awesome challenge for me... since I absolutely love UF & really enjoy horror. :) Thanks!
I love this genre and can't wait to be a part of the challenge. I even have one to list today. Several of my blogs will participate.
Dana @ bookgirlknitting
The first challenge I'll be joining on my brand new blog Tempest Thoughts. I am an avid urban fantasy reader, so it will be easy to meet the goal. I'm OK with horror, but I'm a tad tired of the vampires, zombies and werevolves.
Hey, I posted twice (sorry I'm a dope - could remove the one called shah. I forgot to put my blog name up with my name the first time?)
I should have linked up a bit ago when I did the post but strangely I didn't?
Anyway, its up now.
Question - anyone read Haven and does it count in this reading challenge?
Thnks - shah from wordsinsync.blogspot.com
Just finished The Radleys and it is so perfect for this challenge. Loved it!
Dana @ zombiegirlshambling.blogspot.com/
Yay! I am so excited for this!!!! I need to have some good recommendations, looking forward to reading more this year.
Just signed up for the challenge, looking forward to reading a bunch of great books!
great challenge-idea! and awsome button!
Sounds great! Can I enter books I read earlier this year before I officially signed up?
I am looking forward to challenging myself to see how many urban fantasy and horror books I can read in a year.
I had no idea I liked urban fantasy so much :)
I'm very excited to add this challenge to my list!
This is my first reading challenge and I'm very excited about it! Shouldn't be to difficult as I read these types of books almost exclusively! Thanks for coming up with the idea and let us all play along!
All about it! Haven't decidedon an exact number yet but its going to be alot!
Hi Book Chick City,
Sadly, I will not be able to participate in this year's challenge. Unfortunately, I have a problem making with decisions and sticking to them. May be next time. Thank you for being so patient.
Thanks for the challenge! I'm shooting for 24...but hopefully will get to read more. :)
I must be crazy. We are halfway through March and I just signed up for 4 of the reading challenges. Oh, well. We'll just have to see how I do.
I am glad I found you on the blog hop. I am definitely following you. I hope you will check out my blog, Let's Start Saving Now.
www.letsstartsavingnow.com
My goodness, I've been woefully neglectful of this reading challenge. I'll have to update my blog post sometime soon to reflect the plethora of titles I've read this year, so far.
Totally wicked challenge! Looking forward to it!
I'm in. Looking forward to this challenge =)
Hi, there!
This challenge sounds fun! Do audio books count?
Hi Darlene - no audiobooks, just physical copies or ebooks :)
I'm signing up! Late I know, but sounds like a lot of fun.
I'm such an idiot! I linked to the blog the first time and the post the second. My apologies for being a pain!
I may be a bit late to the party, but this was such an awesome challenge that I couldn't not give it a go.
Thank you for hosting it Carolyn!
Shelagh
The Word Fiend
OOPS! I entere my info twice. #192 and #193. the second has the correct URL for the post. Sorry! Lisa
finished another book for the list!
6: Undead And Undermined by Mary Janice Davidson
I love a good challenge!
Sorry! I accidently posted the wrong URL. So I reentered. #196 is wrong. #197 is the correct one!
Kicking myself for not entering this challenge earlier - I've read quite a few horror books already this year! Anyway, there'e so much more on my TBR so I'm psyched to join this (and hopefully finish it on time!)
I'm in!
Is it too late to sign up? I just saw this contest, but I've already done at least 9 UF reviews since August. This is a really cool idea!
Hi Kate - nope, not too late to sign up, if you think you can achieve it then give it a go! :D
Great! I've just posted my link :)
