Sign Up: Mystery & Suspense Reading Challenge 2011!
Mystery & Suspense Challenge 2011!
Welcome to the Mystery & Suspense Challenge 2011! I didn't do very well in 2010 even though it was my own challenge, but I hope to rectify this in 2011. However, it seems many of you did very well, so congrautlations for completing the challenge. For those of you who were more like me, you have another chance!

I was amazed at the amount of participants in 2010 - 237 of you chose my challenge, amazing! I hope I have as many of you sign up for 2011.
As most of you know there was also a prize courtesy of Simon & Schuster, who offered an ARC to all who joined in with the challenge. Well, Simon & Schuster are sponsoring my Mystery & Suspense Reading Challenge again for 2011 and are giving away an ARC of 'The Survivor' by Sean Slater! Details of what you need to do to claim this fab ARC as well as all the details you need for signing up to the challenge are below!
Grab Button
Sign Up
To sign up you MUST make a post on your blog about participating in the challenge - you then use the URL of the post to sign up to the challenge by adding it to Mr Linky below. DO NOT just add your blog URL - this will be deleted. Also please be aware that unless you show you are joining the challenge with a participation post your ARC will not be sent.
You must add the button to your sidebar - make sure that it links back to this post so others can join the challenge if they wish. Easiest way to do this is to copy and paste the code displayed above!
To Claim ARC

Courtesy of publisher SIMON & SCHUSTER UK, ALL participants of this challenge will receive a free ARC of 'The Survivor' by Sean Slater to start you off on your challenge! Once you have made your participation post and signed up for the challenge, FILL OUT THIS FORM! This form will ask for your full name, postal address, post URL and your entry number from the participants list below (so I can verify), which I will then pass on to the publisher.
Other Details
• Timeline: 01 Jan 2011 - 31 Dec 2011
• Rules: To read TWELVE (12) mystery & suspense novels in 2011 (12 is the minimum but you can read more if you wish!)
• You don't have to select your books ahead of time, you can just add them as you go. Also if you do list them upfront you can change them, nothing is set in stone! The books you choose can crossover into other challenges you have on the go.
• You can join anytime between now and the later part of next year.
• At the beginning of Jan 2011, you will find a link to specific month to add your reviews. There will be a monthly prize too courtesy of the lovely Simon & Schuster - you must be signed up to the challenge and add the link to your review to be entered into the monthly prize draw.
Now, there are many different sub-genres of mystery and suspense - you can choose from the numerous sub-genres, from cosy mysteries such as Agatha Christie to the more hard-boiled kind like V I Warshawski by Sara Paretsky, or romantic suspense written by the likes of Linda Howard, forensic crime such as those written by Kathy Reichs and even paranormal/supernatural suspense such as Kelley Armstrong. I'm sure this challenge will have something for everyone! :)
To help you figure out and decide, I have updated a sub-genre list - to view this list go HERE.
If you have trouble adding your URL link below, please email me the name you want posted below with your URL link and I will add it for you.

HI EVERYONE! THANKS FOR SIGNING UP FOR THE CHALLENGE - HOPE YOU ENJOY IT! :D
I've only gotten into this genre this year so this challange will be fantastic for me to find some new authors!
This challenge was made for me. I love mysteries/thrillers. I've never really kept track of how many I read in a year. I know I read a lot of them. It will be interesting to see what percentage of books I fall into the mystery genre.
Beverly AKA Bookwoman
I am really looking forward to participating in this challenge!!!

Just signe dup!! Sounds amazing!
Do detective-novels also count as Mystery & Suspense?
Great blog!!
Thanks for hosting! Sounds like fun.
Wooohooo! I signed up way too late for the 2010 challenge and essentially failed. So excited to start!
By the way, I'm number 65 & 66 because I made a mistake. So I guess you can delete the one that I didn't directly link the post about the blog. Sorry about that! Also sent you a msg about this on Goodreads!
Universe in Words - Yes, detective novels count as they are still solving a mystery! :)
I'm excited to get started on this one! This will give me a good excuse to catch up on some of the books I've been wanting to read.
Just wondering if everyone will get a comment on their blog after setting up the Mystery & Suspense Reading Challenge 2011 info. I notice that many of the blog links have comments from Book Chick City and many of them don't. How will we know if we signed up correctly. I know, a silly question but I really want to participate in this challenge and want to make sure I did everything right.

I'm looking forward to taking part in this - thanks for hosting it!
I wasn't sure about signing up as I read less mystery than I used to but you have a generous inclusion policy so I decided to give it a try. Maybe it will inspire me to return to mysteries. :)

This should be fun.

I just signed up for this challenge. Now I am off to sign up for the Horror and Urban Fantasy challenge and see what I can do about adding sidebar buttons.
I haven't read a lot of mysteries lately and am looking forward to getting back to it. This is going to be fun!
I really thought I was *done* signing up for challenges, but when my pal Shaunesay told me she was participating, I thought I'd at least take a look. Liking what I saw, I signed up. Looking forward to participating throughout 2011.
Challenges to start the new year - looking forward to the fun
Thanks for hosting! Looking forward to it.
I wanted to participate in a challenge that was different (for me) and after reading the thoughts of 2 online friends, shaunesay and elsi, I decided to join here, too. I am beginning to really like mystery books so this looks like it will be a good thing for me :)
Cheers and Happy New Year!
I did this one last year and I'm glad to participate again. Thanks for hosting!

This is my first time doing this and I'm sure it's going to be fun.
This sounds like a lot of fun and just what I need to tackle my TBR pile.
My cozy mystery Tempest in the Tea Leaves: A Fortune Teller Mystery (First in a new series) comes out in August 2011 by Berkley Prime Crime, so this is perfect timing.
I can't wait to discover a lot of new books and authors :-)
Looking forward to trying this one. I like keeping an eye on what I'm reading and this one will help me to focus :)
I've joined again this year. Thanks!

Thanks for hosting. I don't need a reason to read a mystery but this makes me want to read them all the more.
This is another interesting challenge I'v found. I hope I can finish this challenge.
Well, this looks like another awesome challenge. I'm actually reading a mystery right now, and it happens to be my second for 2011 so far. :)
Happy reading!
Love mysteries! I do all of the mystery book discussions at the library where I work so this is a perfect fit for me.
Oops, I forgot to give direct link to my challenges page.
http://kerosbookblog.blogspot.com/p/book-challenges.html

I'm so excited. I can't believe it. I'm thinking of devoting all my time to this one challenge. I'll wait for the January ARC.
Will need to withdraw from the book challenge. Thanks for having me.

I love mysteries and look forward to finding some great selections through this challenge.
I linked up and will begin reading shortly after exams this week. It's my first time so I have to Google how to do reviews :P
Thank you for hosting!
Was there a limit on how many people would receive the book from Simon & Schuster because I never received one?
I never received one either. I'm not sure whether I'm in or out of the challenge. This is confusion caused by myself.
Thanks for hosting this challenge
Not been reading many mysteries of late - time to change that I think!
I just got my ARC. Thank you!
Happy reading!
Safari Poet
thank u for the book! Loving this challenge!
I also haven't received my ARC. I see other people hadn't a few weeks ago - have we all done something wrong?
I just perused your blog's main page and oh, I've gotta keep checking back often. I also love books and I love mysteries and romances the most. I'm in the middle of about four books at the same time, I plan to start working on them one at a time, slowly.
I am an avid mystery reader. Looking forward to the challenge.
Count me in. I love mysteries and can't wait to jump in and get started.
I also haven't received the ARC, just wanted to check I filled everything in ok?
I had thought I already posted a comment saying this, but can't find it, so apologies if this is a duplicate somewhere.
Joining your challeneg. I have some books lined up that fit this category perfectly. Thanks for hosting!
A bit late, but I want to challenge myself too. I have a homepage written in norwegian, where i post reviews of books I have read. Sorry its not in english... :/ But we luckily got Google Translate if anyone is interested :)
I've been looking for a way to read more mystery and suspense books. This gives me the perfect opportunity. Thanks and wish me luck! :)
Oh, this is fun! I love a good mystery!
I love a good Mystery! This will be fun!
My favorite genre thanks for hosting a great challenge.
Thanks!! I just LOVE this genre!
Thanks for hosting this challenge! Should be an easy one; I love this genre!
Hi, there! Do audio books count for this challenge? The details did not specify, so I am hoping it is ok?
Thanks!
Hi Darlene - no audiobooks, just paper books or ebooks :)
Oh, that is too bad! I guess I should have asked before I signed up! Can you please delete my challenge sign-up? I am #246, thanks.
this should not be a problem well im hoping not lol the problem may be getting books written in english here in norway should be a challenge in more than one way lol
Just found this and am joining up, too! I love mystery/suspense books. Thanks for doing this!
Hey, just signed up for the challenge. Am already looking for books I can read for it. Will be fun!
Hey, just signed up for the challenge. Am already looking for books I can read for it. Will be fun!
Sounds like fun....I look forward to it!
Oops! I just saw this! I hope I am not to late! Gonna make a post right away!
Just found this and signed up for the challenge.
Mysteries are my weakness, so this is going to be fun. Thanks for hosting it.
I know I'm joining late, but this seems like a fun challenge. I just couldn't resist!
I am ready to give this challenge a try. I actually have been reading more mysteries lately than other books.
If I take part, can I use blogposts I wrote earlier in 2011? I have a Dutch/English blog with my sister and we also read YA books. Is it possible to review them as well? And reviews in Dutch? I'd love to take part, but I know we are halfway 2011 and it's not possible to read 12 new mystery books before the end, so I hope older posts also count.
I hope I am not late for this challenge. I love mysteries.
Wow this sounds great. I cant wait to get started.
Thanks guys - I can't get enough of these challenges :)
I've already read 8 of those No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books this year..so I'm definitely in!
This sounds great :) I just signed up! x
