UPDATE: Jo is no longer reviewing for BCC

As you may know, two months ago Book Chick City welcomed Zosia as part of the reviewing team, unfortunately Zosia is no longer with us. I very much enjoyed having her here on BCC and will miss her fab reviews, but I know I can always pop on over to Goodreads! :)

However, I have the pleasure of introducing Josephine (Jo) to the team. Jo is a Brit chick (like moi) and has a voracious appetite for books. She’s bubbly and friendly and I think she will fit in perfectly. I’m very excited to have her join the team and look forward to reading her reviews on lots of fab books! So please give a warm welcome to Jo…

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I’m Jo, and I live in Surrey just outside of London. I share a home with my parents and a conceited cat (aren’t they all?) and a big huggable dog.

Reading is a huge part of my life. My earliest memories involve books. I remember hiding in my secret reading place (which everyone knew about) laying under a blanket, in the manner of Bastian from Neverending Story and going on the most wonderful adventures. One day I could be Jane Eyre wondering who was in the attic, the next I could be Oliver Twist asking for more gruel and the day after I could be Frodo Baggins on a mission to Mount Doom. Books are truly magical, there is an adventure to be had in every single one.

Now at 26 years old I can still be found under a blanket reading away. My tastes in books are still eclectic and while I enjoy any genre I tend to read more Science Fiction/Fantasy and Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance. My favourite authors include Tanith Lee, Terry Pratchett, J.R Ward, Bernard Cornwell, Henry James and Richelle Mead to name just a few.

My other hobbies include movies and knitting. I love to watch movies and while I love a good ‘edge of your seat’ blockbuster, I can be found crying unabashedly at the classics such as Casablanca, a personal favourite. I’ve been knitting for about 8 years and I enjoy it every day. I have adorned my family and friends in hats with ears and pom-poms and I’m very grateful they let me embarrass them so.

I’m a long time reader and fan of Book Chick City, and I’m very happy to be now part of the team and share with you my love of books. I’ll leave you with one of my favourite quotes by Groucho Marx:

“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.”

Yes, cat’s are very conceited, well, my Mickey was anyway…little rascal ;) Merlin looks adorable! I also share your love of movies too – I love a good blockbuster but I’m also sucker for a weepy!

Jo’s first review will be up tomorrow; ‘Wolf Fever‘ by Terry Spear, so please stop by and make her feel welcome :)

Welcome to Book Chick City, Jo!

Welcome Jo! Can't wait to see your reviews! By the way, cats are not conceited, they are fierce, brave hunters. At least that is what the Cat Union keeps telling me! :)
