Reading Challenges!

Hello all – As you may have seen over the past few days I have been announcing Book Chick City’s Reading Challenges for 2011. So far there is the Mystery & Suspense Reading Challenge, my new challenge the Horror & Urban Fantasy Reading Challenge (which I can’t wait to start) and my new 2011 Stephen King Challenge! I will probably be hosting the Typically British Reading Challenge again (with a few changes, post coming soon), and definitely the Summer Romance Reading Challenge, which runs from June 1st to Sept 30th (details will be posted nearer the time).

However, I have decided not to host the Speculative Fiction Reading Challenge again and have passed it on to Amanda from Floor to Ceiling Books. Amanda is very well read in most of the genres under the ‘speculative fiction’ umbrella and I’m sure she will do a fantastic job with this challenge. I am also certain you will find lots of books to add to your ever growing piles through Amanda’s reviews and recommendations. So, if you want to sign up again for this challenge then head on over to Amanda’s place for all the details!

As for challenges hosted by others, I will no doubt sign up for a few but haven’t decided yet which ones!

Which challenges are you signing up for in 2011?

I'll definitely sign-up for the Mystery & Suspense Reading Challenge again & for the Horror & Urban Fantasy Reading Challenge! As for others, still haven't decided. Now first I'm trying to finish this year's challenges & later this month I'll decide for which I'll sign-up :)

Carolyn, can't you make the Romance Reading Cahllenge a year long event? Why only summer? I read quite a few romances, but I've seen I mostly read them in colder weather ;-) lol

Can't wait to start the new challenges, thank you!

I'm definitely going to check out your Stephen King challenge. Can you believe I have not read a single one of his books? I have several on my bookshelf, just haven't gotten to them. To be quite honest, I'm a bit intimidated by the man. His books are long and from what I've gathered, they're pretty detailed and intense. Just looking at Under the Dome intimidates me!

I promised myself I wouldn't sign up for a lot next year, but of course I lied! I signed up for one of yours and a slew of others….

I'm signing up for Speculative and Thriller again. Speculative was no problem and Thriller is almost done (I lack one more book).
I'll akip the King one, I'm not really in the mood to read so many of his novels (I went through a phase when all I could read was King and Koontz).
I'm thinking maybe to sign-up for the Horror but I'm still not sure…

I really hope you do decide to host the British Reading Challenge again this year as that was one of my favorites from last year!
