REVIEW:
I have always loved the Arthurian tales, and after reading the summary for this, I was really excited to see a paranormal twist on my favourite legend.
After a car accident, Isabel is saved by the Water Goddess and sent back in time to the legendary Camelot with one task – to seduce Lancelot from Guinevere and therefore saving Camelot. If Isabel can do this, she will be given her life back. She has every intention of doing so, but she soon finds Lancelot does not hold a candle to Arthur and they are mutually drawn together.
This is the first Goddess Summoning book I have read, but I know it won’t be the last because I really loved it. The ‘fish out of water’ concept is not a new idea, but this is a light-hearted, romance and it reads almost like a chick flick. Camelot itself, is written so enchantingly that I could picture myself there and I enjoyed reading the differences between modern/past women and the shenanigans Isable bought to Camelot.
Isabel is a fantastic heroine, the time traveling doesn’t faze her at all and she acts exactly the same as she would in the modern world – she speaks her mind and isn’t afraid to be sassy. As much as I loved Isabel, the other characters were all brilliantly written, from Lancelot to Guinever and even Mordred. But oh, it is King Arthur who captured my heart! All that you want him to be, he is. P.C. Cast has written him wonderfully, and the connection between him and Isabel is truly heartwarming. Through her love, strength and war tactics (yes, really!) Arthur learns to love again.
The ending though…. I didn’t love as much as the rest of the book. I do understand it, and can appreciate it but it really isn’t what you expect. I’m not sure whether this was a good or bad thing. But I think it is a personal thing, and what I didn’t enjoy might be the thing you love the most about the story.
VERDICT:
A clever, funny paranormal romance that takes an established legend and turns it upside down but with respect and love. I will be reading the others in the series and I know I will enjoy P.C. Cast’s take on other historical myths.

I've had this book on my TBR pile for a while (I love PC Cast's Divine trilogy!) – but you've just convinced me to move it to the top! Cheers Jo!
