On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click here.
When I first saw the cover I thought it was a paranormal mystery, but when I read the synopsis it’s more a paranormal romance. The cover really doesn’t show this – I still think it looks like a cute mystery, don’t you? Either way, it sounds like a fun read
Casting Spells (Sugar Maple #1)
Barbara Bretton (Berkley)
Publication Date: Nov 2008
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Goodreads Summary:
Sugar Maple looks like any Vermont town, but it’s inhabited with warlocks, sprites, vampires, witches—and an ancient secret. And Chloe Hobbs, owner of Sticks & String, a popular knitting shop, has a big secret too. She’s a sorcerer’s daughter in search of Mr. Right—and she’s found him in Luke MacKenzie, a cop investigating Sugar Maple’s very first murder. Bad news is he’s 100% human, which could spell disaster for a normal future with a paranormal woman like her.

This sounds pretty good, and I quite like the cover of this one too.
Reaper’s Justice (Shadow Reapers #1)
Sarah McCarthy (Berkley)
Publication Date: Dec 2010
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Goodreads Summary:
When the War Between the States came to its end, the battle inside Isaiah Jones raged on. Neither fully human nor fully wolf, he found his peace-and the passion his inner wolf craved-with Adelaide Cameron. Though their union was forbidden by the werewolf soldiers, Isaiah satisfied his urges by guarding her from afar. But when Adelaide is abducted, Isaiah must not only expose his dark nature, but invite her into the shadows with him.

Looking forward to this one – sounds fab!
Dark Side
Jeyn Roberts (Simon & Schuster)
Publication Date: Nov 2011
Genre: Dystopian
Young Adult
Goodreads Summary:
Since mankind began, civilizations have always fallen: the Romans, the Greeks, the Aztecs…. Now it’s our turn.
Huge earthquakes rock the world. Cities are destroyed. But something even worse is happening. An ancient evil has been unleashed, hooking on to weakness, turning the unwary into hunters, killers, crazies.
Mason: His mother is dying after a terrible car accident. As he endures a last vigil at her hospital bed, his school is bombed and razed to the ground. Everyone he knows is killed.
Aries: A school bus, an aftershock and a crash. Pulled out of the wreckage by a mysterious stranger, she’s about to discover a world changed forever.
Clementine: An emergency meeting at the town hall that descends into murderous chaos. Outside the rest of their community encircle with weapons. How can those you trust turn into savage strangers?
Michael: A brutal road rage incident. When the police arrive on the scene they gun down the guilty and turn on the by-standing crowd. Where do you go for justice when even the lawmakers have turned bad?

I always thought Glen Cook wrote high fantasy, but I found this urban fantasy/supernatural series while perusing Goodreads. It sounds great!
Silver Sweet Blues (Garrett Files #1)
Glen Cook (Roc)
Publication Date: May 1990
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Goodreads Summary:
Garrett P.I. fans will welcome the reissue of this fantasy noir starring the gritty detective. In Sweet Silver Blues, Garrett is up to his ears in gnomes, vampires, centaurs, and at least one renegade half elf. A hard-boiled tale for readers with a taste for the supernatural.

So, that’s what’s on my wishlist this week – what’s on yours?

Dark Side sounds quite scarey and creepy – the idea that teh world as we know it is only a few short steps away from that kind of choas! I'll be checking that out…

I like the sound of Dark Inside. I don't review them for my blog, but I love reading books that are sort of The Stand/Red Dawn creepy – this sounds like it's in that vein.
That made me want to reread The Stand, but there's no way I have time for it.
