On My Wishlist (#73)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where I list all the books I desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click here.
I love this cover – it looks so serene…
Keeper of the Light (Kiss River #1)
Diane Chamberlaine (Mira)
Publication Date: March 2011

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Goodreads Summary:

Dr. Olivia Simon is on duty in the emergency room of North Carolina’s Outer Banks Hospital when a gunshot victim is brought in. Midway through the desperate effort to save the young woman’s life, Olivia realizes who she is—Annie O’Neill. The woman Olivia’s husband, Paul, is in love with.
When Annie dies on the operating table, she leaves behind three other victims. Alec O’Neill, who thought he had the perfect marriage. Paul, whose fixation on Annie is unshakable. And Olivia, who is desperate to understand the woman who destroyed her marriage.
Now they are left with unanswered questions about who Annie really was. And about the secrets she kept hidden so well.

This sounds really good.
Awakenings
Edward Lazellari (Tom Doherty)
Publication Date: Aug 2011

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Goodreads Summary:

Cal MacDonnell is a happily married New York City cop with a loving family. Seth Raincrest is a washed-up photographer who has alienated even his closest friends. The two have nothing in common—except that they both suffer from retrograde amnesia. It’s as if they just appeared out of thin air thirteen years ago, and nothing has been able to restore their memories. Now their forgotten past has caught up to them with a vengeance.
Cal’s and Seth’s lives are turned upside down as they are stalked by otherworldly beings who know about the men’s past lives. But these creatures aren’t here to help; they’re intent on killing anyone who gets in their way. In the balance hangs the life of a child who might someday restore a broken empire to peace and prosperity. With no clue why they’re being hunted, Cal and Seth must accept the aid of a strange and beautiful woman who has promised to unlock their secrets. The two must stay alive long enough to protect their loved ones, recover their true selves—and save two worlds from tyranny and destruction.

I like the way the green cover emphasises the title…and the girl in the bath, is just…creepy…
Envy (Empty Coffin #1)
Gregg Olsen (Splinter)
Publication Date: Sept 2011

Genre: Paranormal
Young Adult
Goodreads Summary:

New York Times bestselling adult true crime author Gregg Olsen makes his YA debut with EMPTY COFFIN, a gripping new fiction series for teens based on ripped-from-the-headlines stories…with a paranormal touch.
Crime lives–and dies–in the deceptively picture-perfect town of Port Gamble (aka “Empty Coffin”), Washington. Evil lurks and strange things happen–and 15-year-olds Hayley and Taylor Ryan secretly use their wits and their telepathic “twin-sense” to uncover the truth about the town’s victims and culprits.
Envy, the series debut, involves the mysterious death of the twins’ old friend, Katelyn. Was it murder? Suicide? An accident? Hayley and Taylor are determined to find out–and as they investigate, they stumble upon a dark truth that is far more disturbing than they ever could have imagined.
Based on the shocking true crime about cyber-bullying, Envy will take you to the edge–and push you right over.

Can’t find anything about this book on the authors’ website, but I’m intrigued, and it’s a new urban fantasy series so that in itself is enough for me to add it to my wishlist :)
Trance (MetaWars #1)
Kelly Meding (Pocket)
Publication Date: Oct 2011

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Goodreads Summary:

The first in a new series by Kelly Meding, about an X-Men-like group of young people with superpowers who must find a way to work together.

So that’s what’s on my wishlist this week – what’s on yours?

You always find the coolest books – it would appear that you and I have very similar taste.

Envy and Awakening are the two that really stood out for me in this post. And I agree, there is something creepy about the girl in the bathtub.

Have a lovely weekend!

Awakening sounds great but I'm not a fan of the cover – I first I thought it was going to be a family saga style story! I should learn to trust you more! :)
