UPDATE: Andrea is no longer reviewing for BCC
As you may know, I have been looking for a new reviewer since the departure of Jo. After sifting through numerous applications (thank you to all who applied), I can now announce BCC’s new reviewer!
Please give a warm welcome to my newest team member, Andrea! :D
Andrea is a Brit chick (like yours truly), loves all the same kind of genres I do and she’s a huge animal lover, which is a big plus is my book, all of which means I think she will fit in perfectly. I’m really looking forward to reading Andrea’s reviews and welcome her to BCC. I will now pass you over to Andrea so she can tell you a bit more about herself.
Take it away Andrea…

Hiya. I’m Andrea and I live in Staffordshire in the UK. I am Head Minion to two ferrets, five African land snails, and secondary minion to a pride of cats and an insane dog. It’s a chaotic calling, but someone has to do it!
I’ve loved books since before I could read. Bedtime stories were made up by my mother about how we were all werewolves creating havoc on the night of the full moon when she forgot to lock me, my brother and sister in our rooms. I have vivid memories of my dad reading the Witches to me, even my big sister read ghost stories on occasion. Books have always been a huge part of my life.
I suppose my love of the paranormal, fantasy worlds and horror started back then with those werewolf stories! There’s just something so exciting about the fantastic. There are no limits.
I’d rather go book shopping than clothes shopping any day. Seriously. Give me a choice between a good book or a pretty dress, and I’ll pick the book every time–much to my family’s distress. I hoard and collect lots of things, from The Crow memorabilia to vintage My Little Pony, but it’s the books that take up most of the space.
My tastes in books have widened since I started to work in a bookshop. I see so many wonderful books that I’d never think to look for otherwise; I can go from reading graphic novels, to cult fiction, to paranormal romance within the blink of an eye! My favourite genres are paranormal romance, urban fantasy, dark fantasy, and fantasy, though I’ll read anything if it takes my fancy.
My favourite authors include James O’Barr, Anne Bishop, Lynn Flewelling, Maggie Stiefvater, Poppy Z. Brite, Bret Easton Ellis, and Laurell K Hamilton (These are just a few on an extensive list!).
It might be hard to believe, but I do have a life outside the world of books. I’m almost as passionate about music as I am about books, so my CD collection tends to be at war with my book collection for space. I love to go to gigs and support my favourite bands and spend way too much money on merch!
I’m also a bit of a TV geek, I love Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Being Human, Dark Angel, and pretty much any sci-fi TV show I can get my hands on. Plus Glee. I’m a sucker for Puckerman!
I try to be as creative as possible in many different things, whether it’s writing that never-ending novel, or making Steampunk jewellery, or occasionally customising a My Little Pony or two. And one day I really am going to learn to use a sewing machine and make that patchwork quilt out of band t-shirts I’ve talked about for years.
Andrea’s first review will be up later today; ‘Blood Red Road‘ by Moira Young, so please stop by and make her feel welcome :)
Welcome to Book Chick City, Andrea! :D

A big welcome Andrea from BCC's other regular reviewer I look forward to reading your reviews :-D

The animals you own sound both lovely and crazy! ;-) I used to love 'The Witches' as a girl too. Although the decision between a dress and books would be seriously hard as I love dresses and I adore books,,, thank God I don't have to choose!!
