Cover Crush – UK Edition: ‘Bloodlines’ by Richelle Mead
by Carolyn • Posted in Cover Crush
‘Cover Crush’ is a regular feature here at BCC. I love covers – they’re the first thing that catches my eye and will be the primary reason I pick up a book. This feature is where I highlight gorgeous covers of books I’ve seen either around the blogosphere or at the bookshop. These posts run sporadically, as soon as I see a cover I love, I post it!

I have just received an email from Razorbill and I can now reveal the UK cover for ‘Bloodlines‘, the first book in Richelle Mead’s new YA spin-off series from Vampire Academy. I think the cover is really pretty, and I much prefer it to the US edition. I think the font is gorgeous and the colours really striking. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of this book as I really loved the VA series. What do you think – do you like it?

SUMMARY
LOVE AND LOYALTY RUN DEEPER THAN BLOOD…
Sydney protects vampire secrets – and human lives. As an alchemist, she is part of a secret group who dabbles in magic and serves to bridge the world of humans and vampires.
But when Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, she fears she’s still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. What unfolds is far worse. Jill Dragomir—the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir—is in mortal danger, and goes into hiding. Now Sydney must act as Jill’s protector.
The last thing Sydney wants is to be accused of sympathising with vampires. And now she has to live with one . . .

I love the UK cover so much more then the US cover.

I'm glad you like it!
Personally I hate >.< it reminds me of some bad imitation of Romeo and Juliet (the one with Leonardo & Clare) for some reason.
I'm not crazy for the US cover either, but I prefer it.

I like it more than I did when I first saw it – it's growing on me. I'm betting it'll look better in real life. I prefer the US one though, I have to say.

When I first saw it I was surprised a lot of people didn't like it. I'm not a big fan of faces on book and I love how this cover make me think of tattoos
Have a great weekend!

It reminds me too much of the cover of Bullet http://ecx.images-amazon.com/i.....JJXQyL.jpg

Rain Maiden – Me too!
Tynga – I'm sorry you hate it, but I much prefer it to the US version. Getting fed up with faces, especially that one, she looks so snooty! Not how I pictured Sydney at all. I really like the UK edition as it's interesting and colourful. I love the knife through the heart…indicates what's to come…
Prettybooks – I really liked the new UK covers for the VA series, as they are artwork rather than faces and they are lovely in person, so I can imagine that this one will be the same.
Alpa – Yes, the knife through the heart gives a little away as to what to expect
Denise Z – You're welcome!
Safari Poet – I'm not a bit fan of faces either. I don't mind if it's art but I'm not a huge fan of photographs, they never match my image of the character.
Pattepoiue – Yes, I can see the resemblance, but I love the UK covers for Anita Blake series (much better than US editions), so I really don't mind
