On My Wishlist (#99)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where we list all the books we desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click here.
Vicki Pettersson revealed her new cover on Facebook and it caught my eye. Loving the cover – although I’m sure I read that this isn’t the final version. It’s a brand new series and sounds fab don’t you think? I’m swooning over angels right now, so this one looks perfect ;)

The Taken (Celestial Blues #1)
Vicki Pettersson (Harper Voyager)
Publication Date: June 2012
Genre: Urban Fantasy

He’s a fallen angel. She’s a rockabilly reporter. Together they must solve a deadly string of murders plaguing the mortal and the immortal worlds.

Griffin Shaw used to be a PI, but that was over fifty years ago when gumshoes hoofed the streets… and he was still alive. Now he’s a Centurion, an angel who assists other murdered souls through their journey to the afterlife. But while Shaw might be an angel… he’s no saint. Haunted by the mysterious events surrounding his own death, he seizes a chance to wreak some vengeance when he witnesses a deadly attack on journalist Katherine “Kit” Craig.

Joining forces, the unlikely avengers take to the streets, hunting a killer whose trail of bodies stretches across Las Vegas and into an immortal netherworld. It is a dangerous trek that lead them into the darkest corners of Sin City and into the heart of an evil conspiracy extending beyond the lights of the Strip that could destory them both.

But destruction isn’t the only threat Griffin faces. The closer he gets to Kit, the more he finds himself bewitched by her mortal charms. Can he resist falling under her spell? And does he want to? (Goodreads)
This books sounds awesome – what a great premise! It’s sounds oodles of fun. I can’t wait to read it :)

Welcome to the secret wing of County Hospital—where vampires get transfusions, werewolves have silver allergies, and one nurse is in way over her head…

Nursing school prepared Edie Spence for a lot of things. Burn victims? No problem. Severed limbs? Piece of cake. Vampires? No way in hell. But as the newest nurse on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital, Edie has her hands full with every paranormal patient you can imagine—from vamps and were-things to zombies and beyond…

Edie’s just trying to learn the ropes so she can get through her latest shift unscathed. But when a vampire servant turns to dust under her watch, all hell breaks loose. Now she’s haunted by the man’s dying words — Save Anna — and before she knows it, she’s on a mission to rescue some poor girl from the undead. Which involves crashing a vampire den, falling for a zombie, and fighting for her soul. (Goodreads)
As a huge fan of Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series, I really must get around to picking up some of her other books. This looks great.
On The Edge (The Edge #1)
Ilona Andrews (Ace)

The Broken is a place where people shop at Wal-Mart and magic is nothing more than a fairy tale.

The Weird is a realm where blueblood aristocrats rule and the strength of your magic can change your destiny.

Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, the place between both worlds. A perilous existence indeed, made even more so by a flood of magic-hungry creatures bent on absolute destruction. (Goodreads)
I’ve read ‘Sunshine’ by Robin McKinley, which I very much enjoyed. And I’ve heard people talk about how much they love this one. It certainly sounds like an enchanting story and what a beautiful cover too.

Robin McKinley (Penguin)
Publication Date: July 2011 (first published 2010)
Genre: Fantasy
Young Adult

This is the first book in a magical two-part tale of fantasy and friendship… On her twelfth birthday, Princess Sylviianel is ceremonially bound to her own Pegasus, Ebon. For a thousand years humans and pegasi have lived peacefully in the beautiful green country beyond the wild lands. They rely on human magicians and pegasi shamans as their only means of real communication – but not Sylvi and Ebon. Their friendship is like no other… They can understand each other. But as their bond grows more powerful, it becomes dangerous – could their friendship threaten to destroy the peace and safety of their two worlds? (Goodreads)
