Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend.
Welcome to our new feature “Book Chick City’s WEEKLY BULLETIN” – We will be posting every Sunday and it will be filled with lots of BCC news such as what’s coming up, reviews we’ve done, favourite books, as well as review books we’ve received. There may even be a video blog or two ;) *if I can muster up the courage - iz shy* Also, if we find anything around the blogosphere that we feel is particularly note worthy we’ll post about that too! We hope you enjoy  :)
NEW FEATURES: The first is our “Debut Author Spotlight” – we will bring you all the news of up and coming debut authors in the genres of horror, urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Each post will contain all the relevant book information as well as an insight into the author behind the book! I’m excited about this feature as I love finding new authors!

And secondly, a fun feature “Bookmark of the Month” – Laura came up with the idea that we have a ‘battle of the bookmarks’ if you will. Laura and I go head to head each month with a bookmark we love and you have to decide which is the best. The winning bookmark will be offered as a giveaway the following month. Sound good? We thought so :)
POLL: REVIEW BOOKS: I ran a poll during March asking if you wanted to see what books we received for review and the books we bought. 168 (86%) of you voted and said yes to wanting a regular post about the books that come through our letterbox. So, as mentioned above, we will be letting you know what bookie goodness we receive each week in the “WEEKLY BULLETIN” post!
POLL: RATING SYSTEM: I also ran another poll asking if you preferred the ‘out of 10′ rating (which is what we currently use) or the ‘out of 5′ star rating. 384 votes were cast with 203 (53%) of you wanted the rating system to remain the same and 181 (47%) wanted the 5 star rating. As this is nearly a tie I think I will be sticking with the ‘out of 10′ rating for now. Thanks to all who voted, it was very interesting.
GIVEAWAYS: I have updated the “giveaways” tab on the menu bar. You will see all BCC’s current giveaways as well as the winner(s) of each giveaway as it ends. I think this is a better way of listing giveaways/winners to how I did it before. I hope you find it easier too.

AFFILIATES: I have been emailed by many of you asking for more links to books than just Goodreads, so I have now begun to include links to Amazon UK & US and The Book Depository to most of my posts. I will also mention that these links are affiliated. Any money earned from these links will go straight back into the blog to help with costs such as postage for national and international giveaways.

BLOG REDESIGN: I am also in the process of updating Book Chick City – you will soon get to see a new layout, new colours and a new banner! The banner will still contain my gorgeous pink haired chickadee but with a few amendments to reflect the kind of books we review and recommend on BCC, so I hope you like it. A big reveal will be happening sometime in the new year – I’m very excited! :D

Ok, onto other things…

BOOKS BOUGHT

CAROLYN: I went a little bit crazy again this month…oh I’m just so naughty! *slaps wrist* But there were just so many fab deals going on at Amazon that my finger just went crazy with the one-click button. The paperbacks I bought with my Waterstone’s voucher that I’d been given for my birthday last April!

Paperback
Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin
Desdaemona by Ben Macallan
• The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor by Kirkman & Bonansinga
Bloodshot by Cherie Priest
Hellbent by Cherie Priest
Sins of the Angels by Linda Poitevin

Something Secret This Way Comes by Sierra Dean (Urban Fantasy)
In the Dead: Vol 1 by Jesse Petersen (Zombie)
Mile 81 by Stephen King (Horror)
Noble Intentions by Katie MacAlister (Historical Romance)
Noble Destiny by Katie MacAlister (Historical Romance)
The Trouble with Harry by Katie MacAlister (Historical Romance)
Veronica and the Vampire by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom (PNR)
Trouble in Mudbug by Jana Deleon (Paranormal Mystery)

LAURA: Sadly, I’m on a bit of a book buying ban at the moment with Christmas around the corner and the recent arrival of my son (if you missed it, read more here), so I have to keep mentally keeping myself away from the Amazon one-click for the kindle. It’s very hard I have to say! It’s ok, don’t feel too sorry for me, I do have so many books on my to read shelf I could open my own mini library. Sadly this did mean I couldn’t possibly argue with my husband I really NEEDED anymore. Hmm… I wonder how long my will power will last! The kindle makes it very easy to sneak new ones in ;-)

LAST WEEK’S REVIEWS

Lure of the Mummy by Janis Susan May (5/10)
Always Angel by Heather Killough-Walden (7/10)
Shakespeare’s Landlord by Charlaine Harris (7/10)
Unholy Magic by Stacia Kane (8/10)

FAVOURITE BOOK READ

CAROLYN: I think it has to be Shakespeare’s Landlord – I’m loving Charlaine Harris right now. Can’t wait to continue the series :)

LAURA: My favourite book of the week has to be Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers. I’ve not read any YA for a while and I really enjoyed this one. Great start to a new series (review to come).

WHAT WE’RE READING NOW

CAROLYN: I’ve just finished ‘Grave Witch‘ by Kalayna Price, (review coming next week) and I’m now reading ‘Archangel’s Blade‘ which I started but then put on hold because of Black October (confused? read this).

LAURA: This week I’ve read Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers and I’ve started Crushed Seraphim‘ by Debra Anastasia. I’ve had a bit of a slow reading week towards the end of the week and not read as much as I would have liked, hopefully I can squeeze in some extra reading time this weekend. I also usually have an audio book on the go, but this normally takes me several weeks to listen to. I’m currently listening to The Spirit Eater by Rachel Aaron.

COMING UP THIS WEEK

We have lots of great stuff coming up this week including Laura’s review of ’Bullet‘ by Laurell K. Hamilton and her ”Thoughtful Ramblings” post, “Book Borrowing Etiquette: The Hidden Dangers!”, a guest post and giveaway with Debra Anastasia, author of ‘Crushed Seraphim‘ and ‘Poughkeepsie‘. Ashley from The Bookish Brunette will be stopping by to showcase some of the books she loves and I’ll be reviewing ‘Grave Witch’ by Kalayna Price.
