On My Wishlist (#106)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s where we list all the books we desperately want but haven’t actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It’s also an event that you can join in with too – Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own ‘On My Wishlist’ post. If you want to know more click here.

CAROLYN’S WISHLIST

I found out about this book when the author emailed requesting a review (which I accepted as it sounds great!). I then found the cover over at All Things Urban Fantasy and now I really can’t wait to read it – the cover is very cool don’t you think!

Summary:

In a perfect world, Sierra Fox would have stayed away from the Council she left years ago. But in this world—where spirits have the right to walk among the living—it’s her job to round up troublesome spooks and bring them before that very same Council.

Though her desk is piled high with open cases, she can’t resist an anonymous summons to a mysterious late-night meeting with a bunch of other hunters, each of whom seems to have a unique specialty. The news is dire: something is tearing at the fabric of the universe. If the hunters can’t find who or why in time, something’s going to give in a very messy way.

As current cases, family secrets, new clues and her tangled love life slowly wind themselves into an impossible knot, Sierra finds herself the target of a power-sucking duo intent on stealing her mojo. And realizing she holds the key to the last hope of sealing the widening rift. (Author Website)

This is another cover I found over at abigail’s (ATUF), I’m not sure I like it but it sounds like a great read.

Tarnished (The St. Croix Chronicles #1)
Karina Cooper (Avon)

Summary:

It’s a Steampunk urban fantasy set in Victorian London, featuring a heroine who straddles the line between Society miss and underground bounty hunter. The genre has a decided historical flavor, undercut with elements of Steampunk sci-fi and classic Victorian adventure stories.
LAURA’S WISHLIST

No-one does a cosy romance like Nora Roberts and I haven’t picked up one of her books in a while. This one is about a dog trainer too and I love doggies :-D

The Search
Nora Roberts (Piatkus Books)
Publication Date: July 2010
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Summary:

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life – a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare…

Several years ago, she was the only survivor of a serial killer – a madman who stalked and abducted young women, strangled them, and left them buried with a red scarf on their bodies. As authorities were closing in on the Red Scarf Killer, he shot and killed Fiona’s cop fiance and his K-9 partner.

On Orcas Island, Fiona found the peace and solitude she needed to rebuild her life. Yet all that changes on the day Simon Doyle barrels up her drive, desperate for her help. He’s the reluctant owner of an out-of-control puppy, foisted upon him by his mother. Jaws has eaten through Simon’s house, and he’s at his wit’s end.

To Fiona, Jaws is nothing she can’t handle. Simon is another matter. A newcomer to Orcas, he’s a rugged and intensely private artist, known for creating exquisite furniture. Simon never wanted a puppy, and he most definitely doesn’t want a woman. Besides, the lanky redhead is not his type. But tell that to the laws of attraction.

As Fiona embarks on training Jaws and Simon begins to appreciate both dog and trainer, the past tears back into Fiona’s life. A copycat killer has emerged out of the shadows, a man whose bloodlust has been channeled by a master with one motive: to reclaim the woman who slipped out of his hands…(Goodreads)

I’m loving the look of this werewolf romance, lots of action and I’m hoping lots of sizzles too!
An Everlasting Bite (The Blue Bloods #1)
Stacey Kennedy  (Silver Books)
Publication Date: November 2010
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Buy Your Copy: Not yet available for pre-order

Summary:

Love is born between strangers, yet built upon a bond soul deep―one Alpha’s vow to protect his mate from looming danger, all the while, mending her soul and stirring her wolfish desires.

A vicious Werewolf attack in Plymouth, Minnesota leaves a young woman violated, bitten and now, transformed into a Werewolf. But Rynn Murphy doesn’t have to face this transformation alone—she has her mate by her side. And the charming Briggs is eager to ease her into this new life and mend her battered soul.

With only weeks to adjust to her new fur, Rynn begins to understand what it truly means to be mated to the Beta, secondhand man to Valor, Patriarch of Wolves. Their leadership over the Alphas brings them in contact with the Montana Alpha, Hendrix. He is in a desperate state to find his abducted daughter. Valor and Briggs agree to give aid in her rescue leaving Rynn to tag along.

But this mission is not without danger. And soon, they discover the ones who have taken this young wolf do not want her found and will stop at nothing to keep her hidden. Or so it may seem, as bodies begin to drop around them, the murderous attempts start to appear more as a hit than a smoke screen—leaving only one question, who is the intended target… (Goodreads)

So, that’s what’s on my wishlist this week – what’s on yours?
