Hi Guys! Hope you’re having a great weekend. Here is the low down on what happened on BCC this week…

REVIEWS

CAROLYN’S ROUNDUP

I started the week by finishing DRAGON BOUND by Thea Harrison, and boy was it good! Review coming soon. I then finished WHITE HORSE by Alex Adams, which I’ve been reading on and off for a couple of weeks. I struggled with it for the first 80 pages or so, and then it turned into one of the biggest surprise reads of the year and I ended up loving it – review will be up next week.

I’m now juggling SHADOW OF NIGHT by Deborah Harkness (I want to post my review in July so I’m starting now as it’s mahusive!) and PLAGUE TOWN by Dana Fredsti, which I bought this week. It’s a zombie filled urban fantasy, and so far it’s really fun reading.

I bought three books this week – PLAGUE TOWN, as mentioned, Also ASHES TO ASHES and ALL SOULS’ NIGHT by Jennifer Armintrout. I read The Turning, the first book in the series and already have book two, POSSESSION, so thought I would buy the rest as I want to complete the series. I also won a copy of DELIVER ME FROM DARKNESS by Tes Hilaire – looking forward to reading this one :)

LAURA’S ROUNDUP

I have continued reading BLOOD AND BULLETS by James R. Tuck this week. I was really looking forward to it after reading That Thing At The Zoo in January. But, while it shows so much promise, I am finding that the plot is so far disappointing. I’m very close to finishing it, so next on my list to read is DESTINY KILLS by Keri Arthur. A nice paranormal romance after all the blood and gore! ;-)

I have been book shopping this week – yipee! My purchases were MAGIC SLAYS (Kate Daniels #5), can’t wait to pick this one up! I also bought for my Kindle DARK LOVER (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1) after a glowing recommendation from fellow reviewers Gemma and Vickie. Finally, a sheer impulse buy as it looked interesting and I haven’t come across it before THE VAMPIRE KING by Heather Killough-Walden. The premise certainly looks good and it has had some rave reviews on Amazon, so I thought I would give it a whirl.

REBECCA’S ROUNDUP

I have read several books for review this week, beginning with 15 MILES by Rob Scott and moving onto ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD by Kendare Blake, STRUCK by Jennifer Bosworth and FATED by Benedict Jacka. Of all these books, ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD was the one that blew me away, and I loved every second of it, especially the unique character of Anna. It may be classed as YA, but I would recommend it to anyone.

I’m now reading WITCHES OF THE EAST by Melissa de la Cruz, and I’m only around 30 pages in, but it really hasn’t grabbed me so far, and I’m hoping it picks up soon!

Aside from reviewing, I haven’t really been up to anything interesting, just working! I’m currently deciding which new books to buy on Amazon, so if anyone has any good suggestions, I’d appreciate it! (:

GEMMA’S ROUNDUP

This week I finished both LOVER REBRON by J. R. Ward and THE VENGEFUL DEAD by J. L. Duncan. While the BDB series has been one I have followed for a while, The Vengeful Dead is only second in the series and I have to say it’s showing great promise – review will be up soon.

I’ve just started SINS OF THE SON (The Grigori Legacy #2) by Linda Poiteven. Having already read and reviewed Sins of the Angels, I decided to try the next one. I hope this will be a bit meatier. My review of Sins of the Son will be up later in the month.

In a nice link to the book, I won two lovely bookmarks as part of a twitter contest. I do like the little angel charms at the end.

This weekend I went to see Cabin in the Woods. It’s Joss Whedon so it was bound to be fun. Review will be up soon.

VICKIE’S ROUNDUP

This week has been a pretty slow one. I have been uber lazy and only read a couple of books, one of which I haven’t finished yet! My excuse… it’s half term and I have children to entertain.

The first book was on my kindle and was a Moira Rogers short, called WILDER’S MATE which is part of the Bloodhounds series. I enjoyed it but wasn’t too keen on the language used, but more on that in my review which will be up soon. I am currently reading JACOB by Jacquelyn Frank. This is a first for me from this author, and I have to say I am enjoying it so far… Just wish those pesky kids would let me read it!
