CAROLYN’S ROUNDUP
Last Sunday night I finished zombie novel, AUTUMN by David Moody [UK|US]. It was a pretty good read, and although there were a few issues with the story, for the most part it was really compelling. So much so that I immediately picked up the second and third book in the series, THE CITY [UK|US] and PURIFICATION [UK|US], which I’ve already devoured. Now I’m all set for DISINTEGRATION [UK|US], the next instalment in the series, which will be released later this year. I’m now reading SACRIFICIAL MAGIC by Stacia Kane [UK|US]. I’ve been waiting for this book for what seems like forever!
Although I have been on a book buying ban with Gemma, (as I’m spending way too much on books at the moment, it’s ridiculous!), I did receive a few books that I’d pre-ordered ages ago – THE IMMORTAL RULES by Julie Kagawa [UK|US], MIDNIGHT RESCUE, a romantic suspense by Elle Kennedy [UK|US] and GHOUL INTERRUPTED by Victoria Laurie [UK|US]. Plus it was my birthday, and I received quite a few Amazon vouchers. Therefore I fed my addiction by buying lots of books. I know, I know. You’re on a ban, you say. Well I say vouchers don’t count. It would be rude not to use them!
So here’s what I bought: DARKNESS FALLING by Peter Crowther [UK|US], DEAD MANN WALKING by Stefan Petrucha [UK|US], DEAD CITY [UK|US], APOCALYPSE OF THE DEAD [UK|US] and FLESH EATERS [UK|US] by Joe McKinney, HELLFORGED by Nancy Holzner [UK|US], HEXED [UK|US] and HAMMERED [UK|US] by Kevin Hearne, due to Laura’s positive reviews. I still have another voucher left, but I think I’ll pace myself. Don’t want to use them up all at once!

LAURA’S ROUNDUP
I’ve been reading HARD SPELL by Justin Gustainis [UK|US] this week. It’s one of those books that’s taken me a little bit longer to read than I hoped, eager to move onto the next one. While I found it a little bit hard going at first, by the end I’d got into the story and the lead character had really grown on me. I’ve read a few books lately that have got cracking endings and HARD SPELL is definitely one of them.
I’m now reading contemporary romance RUN RABBIT RUN by Kate Johnson [UK|US], which is one of Choc Lit’s new releases. As I’ve just read a couple of urban fantasies recently, it’s quite nice to switch up the genres every now and then.
I’m still not able to do too much book buying as I’m still on maternity leave, but I’ve been sent some super books for review this week including SACRIFICIAL MAGIC [UK|US] book number four in Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghost series. I so cannot wait to read it! I have a few other books to read that I have promised reviews for first, but it keeps taunting me from the bookshelf saying read me, read me, read me

REBECCA’S ROUNDUP
This week I read THE PACK by Jason Starr [UK|US], for which the review will be up very soon! It was a good read, and different from my usual reading because I normally steer clear of the wolfies!
I also read THE SNOWMAN by Jo Nesbo [UK|US], which is an amazing book, and it’s reputation is definitely well-deserved. It has been compared to Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, and I think I like Millennium more, but this comparison is well-justified. Fantastic gory crime at it’s best!
Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to start any of my new books yet (see last week’s weekly roundup), as I’ve been too busy with work, but hopefully I will get to at least make a start on one this week!

GEMMA’S ROUNDUP
Well, after finishing SINS OF THE SON by Linda Poitevin [UK|US], I moved onto CIRCLE OF FIRE by Keri Arthur [UK|US]. So far it’s a strange read, as I neither like nor hate it. It’s going to be tough review to write I think. After that I am going to start PRETTY LITTLE DEAD THINGS by Gary McMahon [UK|US].
I’m still on my book buying ban and so far I have managed to go six days without buying any books (at the time of writing this roundup). I’m trying to get my TBR pile down as it’s growing. I’ve also done a bit of a cull by getting rid of books that fall into two categories; “WTF was I thinking?” and “I’ve Read it, so why am I keeping it?”
This weekend I’m hoping to go see The Avengers (Though its called Avengers Assemble, here in the UK. Why? So we don’t get mixed up with the tv show with Emma Peel in it? *Rolls eyes*)

VICKIE’S ROUNDUP
I finally finished JACOB by Jacqueline Frank [UK|US]!! I did enjoy it, but… there quite often seems to be a but at the moment! It totally reminded me of something else I have read, and to be honest, I enjoyed the other book more. Currently working on the review for that, so more details about that when I get it done… soon boss… honest!
I now have the next instalment of the ‘Bloodhounds’ series by Moira Rogers to read, HUNTER’S PREY [UK|US], which I am looking forward to, and I also have some Anne Bishop to read. Just love the Black Jewels series!!
