Welcome to our new feature where we talk about random things we’ve seen around the blogosphere. It could be an interesting article, a book trailer, maybe a fun piece of news we feel you should know about, and maybe even a stylish pair of shoes or handbag we’ve seen (if Laura has her way!). Basically it’s a bit of a mashup! Enjoy…

Hi everyone! It’s Carolyn here with this week’s Monday Mashup. Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend!

Ancient Vampire Bodies Found

I saw this interesting story on the Sky News website – I’m always intrigued about how the vampire myth was born.

Bulgarian archaeologists have unearthed centuries-old skeletons with iron rods through their chests – believed to have been victims of an old anti-vampire ritual.

Widespread superstition led to iron rods being hammered through the chest bones and hearts of those who did evil during their lifetimes for fear they would return after death to feast on the blood of the living.

Another Adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘IT’

Are we ready for another movie of Stephen King adaptations? I can honestly say there’s not one film that really sticks out that was a masterpiece, in fact most just really sucked. But this time it looks as though for once a classy movie can be made from one of King’s biggest and most popular works. Warner Bros have hired Cary Fukunaga who was behind the most recent Jane Eyer movie and will co-write the script with Chase Palmer. The movie is going to be split into two instalments. I am looking forward to how this adaptation will work, with my fingers crossed for a stellar adaptation.

Vampire Book Club’s “Fighting Cancer Charity Books Auction”

Chelsea at Vampire Book Club has organised this amazing event. Having lost her father to cancer she decided to do something for Father’s Day rather than wallowing (her words) – I admire her. This is something close to my heart as my father-in-law passed away in January this year from bladder and liver cancer. It wasn’t diagnosed until the late stages and then two weeks later he was gone. Please check out Chelsea’s book auction. She has some amazing authors involved and it looks as though it’s doing brilliantly and raising lots of money.

Too Cute for Words…

Want something to cheer you up on this Monday morning? Check this out and tell me it didn’t make you feel just that little bit better.

I too think what Chelsea at Vampire Book Club is doing is a really nice idea to raise money for cancer.
Equally I am fascinated by the origin of the vampire myth… maybe they really are real ;-)

But what if they looked like Eric from True Blood?

If they looked like Eric, then hell yeah! ;D

It does seem a bit strange that the writer of Jane Eyre is writing the script for Stephen King’s “IT”. Oh, I hope its not a mash-up between the two!

LOL I don’t think it’s a mashup but I hear what you’re saying – we’ll just have to wait and see. Only thing I know is that more often than not, any adaptations of Kings’ books are crrrap!

The Green Mile was a good film though!

Yes, but it’s one of the few. Most are rubbish.
