DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT
(Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2)
RELEASE DATE: 8th Nov 2012
PUBLISHER: Hodder
GENRE: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult/Crossover
ARTIST: Unknown
Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a new way of living – one without massacres and torn throats and bonfires of the fallen, without revenants or bastard armies or children ripped from their mothers’ arms to take their turn in the killing and dying. Once, the lovers lay entwined in the moon’s secret temple and dreamed of a world that was a like a jewel-box without a jewel – a paradise waiting for them to find it and fill it with their happiness. This was not that world. (Amazon.co.uk)
CAROLYN’S THOUGHTS
When I was sent the animated hardback cover for DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT, I was told it would make a great screensaver or wallpaper for mobile phones – I decided to upload it here instead so I could show all of you. I’m in two minds about it really. On the one hand I think it’s a bit boring for such a dynamic and exciting series, but on the other I do find it quite striking. It may grow on me, as did the hardback cover for Daughter of Smoke and Bone, the first book in the series (although I loved the paperback edition). What I do know is that I can’t wait to read it.
LAURA’S THOUGHTS
I actually wasn’t a fan of the hardback cover of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The feathers just didn’t work for me. But I do love the paperback version like Carolyn. I’m not too excited about this one. It’s boring and the cover for this series could be so amazing. But… I think the animation is really cool! So it has potential, I’d like to see how it looks in real life. And I definitely cannot wait to read it either.

I am MESMERIZED by the animation! does that make me cheap?

Ooooo cool animation! But as a whole, I much prefer the US version of this cover. Which is weird. Because I almost always prefer UK over US covers. This is an anomaly, I suppose.
