PORTLANDTOWN
(A Tale of the Oregon Wyldes)

RELEASE DATE: Oct 2012
PUBLISHER: St Martin’s Press
GENRE: Urban Fantasy | Horror | Zombies
ARTIST: Unknown

Welcome to Portlandtown, where no secret is safe—not even those buried beneath six feet of Oregon mud. Joseph Wylde isn’t afraid of the past, but he knows some truths are better left unspoken. When his father-in-law’s grave digging awakens more than just ghosts, Joseph invites him into their home hoping a booming metropolis and two curious grand twins will be enough to keep the former marshal out of trouble. Unfortunately, the old man’s past soon follows, unleashing a terrible storm on a city already knee deep in floodwaters. As the dead mysteriously begin to rise the Wyldes must find the truth before an unspeakable evil can spread across the West and beyond. (Goodreads)

CAROLYN’S THOUGHTS

I LOVE this cover. It’s just the kind of image that would make me snap this book up in a heart beat if I saw it in a book shop. Is that a zombie I see, with a gun belt *hehe* The couple in the distance give the cover a feel of the old wild west, and I’m sure that’s more zombies behind them *here’s hoping!*. The title font and colour is just brilliant, it really works well with the rest of the artwork. From the blurb it sounds like a fun read too – I’ve already pre-ordered my copy! Really great cover, definitely one of my favourites this year so far.

LAURA’S THOUGHTS

I can almost see Carolyn jumping up and down in excitement! LOL! In all seriousness, although zombies aren’t usually my thing, this is a very cool cover. As Carolyn says it has a funky wild west feel to it. Gun slinging zombies, interesting combination! I really like the zombies surrounding the historical couple, and the scary hand of the zombie right at the front. Eek!

I have to agree. I love this cover. I’m not sure if I would pick it up due to the theme seeming to be old west. For me its very…masculine. I know… I know…. Never judge a book by its cover, but that genre never really gels with me. Never liked western films or tv shows.

Still its very cool and puts me in mind of the American Vampire Comic covers
