Welcome to our new feature where we talk about random things we’ve seen around the blogosphere. It could be an interesting article, a book trailer, maybe a fun piece of news we feel you should know about, and maybe even a stylish pair of shoes or handbag we’ve seen (if Laura has her way!). Basically it’s a bit of a mashup! Enjoy….
Outlander TV Deal
Gabaldon’s Outlander books are a series I’ve been promising myself to read for ages. They sound so good and so many people rave about them. Which means I was quite excited to read that the whole series has been signed for a TV deal! It’s been picked up by Ron Moore, the guy behind the remake of Battlestar Galactica, which personally gives me great hope that this could be a great adaptation. I can’t wait to hear more about this and hope it’s a slick and awesome as Game of Thrones!
Radcliffe Gets Horny
Sorry I couldn’t resist the title! . Ok, Daniel Radcliffe has spent years and years in round spectacles with a lightening scar on his forehead. So it makes complete sense that he now wants to work hard to prove he can be something other than Harry. I must see The Woman In Black, I love the stage show, and the trailer looks great, if spookily scary. He is now going to take the lead in a film adaptation of Joe Hill’s HORNS. I’ve not actually come across the book myself before, but here’s a snippet from the book summary:
Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache . . . and a pair of horns growing from his temples.
At first Ig thought the horns were a hallucination, the product of a mind damaged by rage and grief. He had spent the last year in a lonely, private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, who was raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances. A mental breakdown would have been the most natural thing in the world. But there was nothing natural about the horns, which were all too real.
Once again it’s a very different role for Radcliffe, and I think he’s deliberately trying to prove himself a capable and versatile actor and I really can’t blame him. Looks like a great book, so I hope the film and Radcliffe does it proud.

Austen Meets Erotica
So we all know by now that Erotica is having a huge surge in popularity because of that book (I’ve decided I’m not going to mention it this week LOL!). We also know that people like to play around with the classics. We’ve had PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES and JANE SLAYRE (for which you can read my review here). I’m not really a fan of classic rewrites, I kind of think a classic is a classic for a reason. But news this week is that some classics are going to get an erotic rewrite. I have to admit to feeling slightly let down that we didn’t get even a peck at the end of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. I just wanted to see Darcy’s smouldering kiss, but alas it was never to be. But… do I want to see him lashing Elizabeth to a bed and *ahem* well, shagging her silly! Hmm, I’m not really sure I do. Maybe I’ll feel differently if I read one, but I kind of want it left behind closed doors, perhaps how Austen herself would have wanted it??
