Welcome to our new feature where we talk about random things we’ve seen around the blogosphere. It could be an interesting article, a book trailer, maybe a fun piece of news we feel you should know about, and maybe even a stylish pair of shoes or handbag we’ve seen (if Laura has her way!). Basically it’s a bit of a mashup! Enjoy….
Are Book Covers A Dying Art?
Love them or hate them, there is no escaping that ebooks are rapidly growing in popularity. I have often found myself wondering lately how this will affect Book Art. As you know from our feature, here at BCC we love beautiful book covers. But let’s face it, they look pretty naff on your Kindle. So it was with interest I read the below article on NPR Books from the point of view of a very popular book artist. He sadly accepts that gorgeous book covers do not affect book sales at all, not in the way they will on a gleaming hardback. Does this mean book covers are dying out? He says no, and I sincerely hope not I love them! Even if sometimes I only get to look at them on my Goodreads page. I still love them. I really hope that things move on soon so that you can get gorgeous colourful book covers on your Kindle and still enjoy the great e-ink technology that makes them so easy to read on.

Nook To Be Sold In UK From October
It’s taken quite a few years, but news in recently is that Barnes and Noble’s Nook will be released in the UK in October this year. Nook content and devices will be sold through the website www.nook.co.uk. No store stockists have been released yet, as sadly we do not have Barnes and Noble stores over here in the UK. An interesting move given that Kindle’s are going to be sold in Waterstones shortly. I have to say having never seen one, it’s hard for me to comment on the functionality between the two devices, although I do believe the Nook has a colour version, which might be great thinking on my thoughts on book covers above. But for me it’s probably a little bit too late, I have well over a hundred books on my Kindle now and for that reason alone, I cannot see me switching devices. Do you feel the same?

BITTEN by Kelley Armstrong Made Into TV Series
BITTEN by Kelley Armstrong is one of my favourite novels, as well as the first ever urban fantasy novels I read. So I was super excited to read on Kelley Armstrong’s Facebook page that the book is going to be made into a thirteen episode series! It’s being made in Canada, and filming starts next Spring. Firstly I really, really hope that we get it in the UK. But also, I sincerely hope they do a good job of adapting it. I am slightly scared that they may spoil it, also it’s really important they get the casting right for whoever plays Elena and Clay. I guess we’re going to have to wait a year or so to see.

Protect Your Blog From Being Copied
Plagiarism. That nasty, ugly horrible word. It continues to pop up in the blogosphere like a ghastly, mean old virus. Anyway, Problogger recently published an article with some great tips on how to prevent people from copying your content. They’re pretty simple. The whole concept of someone stealing your hours of hard work is just horrible, so the more tips to prevent them the better. Definitely a must read for all of our blogger friends.
I’m always on the hunt for new bookmarks, I’m not sure what happens to them, I think there is a bookmark eating genie in my house or something! I’m particularly a fan of the slightly different ones, or those I haven’t seen before. So I came across the Sprout one on Pinterest this week and I think it’s rather cute. I love the fact it looks like you have a little plant growing in your book
