I saw this quite some time ago but I can’t remember where. I’m not even sure if it had a cover then, just a title in a catalogue. I can’t help but love it when a new urban fantasy series come onto the scene. I’m such a fan of the genre and this one looks and sounds great. I can’t find much of a synopsis, but either way, I’m excited. What do you think?

THE SERIES: Weird Girls

BOOK #1: Sealed with a Curse
PUBLISHER: Signet | RELEASE DATE: Dec 2012  | GENRE: Urban Fantasy

“Every woman has an inner tigress–that part of her that gives her strength and helps her to survive despite all odds . . . I’m just able to bring mine to the surface.” –Celia Wird, SEALED WITH A CURSE: A WEIRD GIRLS NOVEL

Cecy (pronounced Sessy) Robson is a full-time writer, registered nurse, wife, and mother living in the Great Northwest. She attributes her passion for story-telling back to the rough New Jersey neighborhood she was raised in.

As a child, she was rarely allowed to leave the safety of her house and passed her time fantasizing about flying, fairies, and things that go bump in the night. Her dad unwittingly encouraged Cecy’s creativity by kissing her goodnight wearing vampire fangs. Gifted and cursed with an overactive imagination, she began writing her first urban fantasy series, Weird Girls, in May 2009. (Photo Ⓒ Kate Gledhill Photography)

If I saw this in a book shop I would so pick it up. It looks really good :)

Cecy August 20, 2012 at 10:22 pm

Thank you, Laura. I’m very excited about the release!

Gemma August 20, 2012 at 10:03 am

I too would pick up this book if I saw it in a shop, but I would need more detail on the plot before deciding whether I would buy it or not.

Also the mere hinting of “inner-tigress” is rather similar to “inner-goddess” from The book I refuse to name.

Cecy August 20, 2012 at 10:29 pm

Hi, Gemma! I hear what you’re saying about the inner-tigress similarity. Celia (my protagonist) has been referring to her inner beast / tigress since I first began writing my series three years ago. When my girlfriend brought up the similarity from the other novel, I nearly had a heart attack.

The blurb is posted on, but for some reason, it’s a little trick to find.

Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they’re products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird…

The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region—until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense. Everyone knows vampires aren’t aggressive, and killing one is punishable by death. But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders: are the vampires of Tahoe cursed with a plague?

Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha’s family to keep the region safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and oh yeah, not lose her heart to the wrong guy—or die a miserable death. Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, it’s coming for her and her sisters. This Wird girl has never had it so tough.

Thanks for the full synopsis. Reading that, I would be more inclined to pick it up now. :)

I’d have a heart attack too, especially if I had been writing a book/series before a phenomena had taken off.

I wish you all the success in your new series (inner tigress and all :) )

Cecy August 21, 2012 at 8:54 pm

Thank you, Gemma, you’re very kind. And yes, my heart attack is still in the making . . .
