We hope you will join us for a month of fun and fright… but of course, only if you dare… mwahahahaaa ;D
This week was a little better for reading. I’ve made good headway with FULL BLOODED by Amanda Carlson and I’m really enjoying it. I also started reading HOT & HAUNTED an Anthology of three short stories by Megan Hart, Saranna DeWylde and Lauren Hawkeye. I’ve read two out of three so far. The first was by Megan Hart called NOTHING ELSE MATTERS and I loved it. I love her writing style, the world she’s built and the characters. The second one I read was PICK ME UP by Lauren Hawkeye. This had an interesting premise and I enjoyed it to a point, but it was very sexual with a lot of words that make me squirm LOL. More about both in my review coming soon.
Next on my list to read is MIND OVER MONSTERS by Jennifer Harlow. The review of this one will be posted during our All Hallows Eve event in October.
I have to confess chapters in I decided that BLOOD THERAPY by Lynda Kilburn wasn’t for me and I decided it was time to move on to something new. So in preparation for October ALL HALLOWS EVE event, it’s time to get my teeth into some Horror..eek! So my first book is THE WITCHES by Peter Curtis. Peter Curtis is actually a pseudonym for Norah Lofts and the book is set in 1959, so it is a classic novel. But I have to say it’s really, really creepy. The tension is being crafted slowly and carefully and so subtly it’s almost giving me goosebumps.
On the audiobook side I have started listening to ANGELS’ BLOOD by Nalini Singh, partly because Carolyn is such a big fan of Nalini Singh and I read SLAVE TO SENSATION on holiday this year and really enjoyed it. So I decided to give her Guild Hunter series a whirl
This weekend I have AVENGER’S ASSEMBLE ready to watch on DVD. I wanted to see it at the cinema but didn’t get around to it. So I’m rather excited about it, especially after reading Gemma’s super review earlier in the year! I do love Whedon, oh and Chris Hemsworth probably won’t hinder my enjoyment either! 😉
I am really struggling to read this week, my head feels hollow and my brain is definitely missing. I have only managed to finish one book this week EEK! It was a big scary book though, ONE BLOOD by Qwantu Amaru.
I have been very good on my book buying ban as this week, I have added two more NetGallery titles, SPLITERED by A.G. Howard and CHASERS by James Phelan. I’ve also downloaded one freebie Kindle title from Amazon, GUARDIAN OF FATE by L.J. Kentowski.
Next week will see me finally finish A BOOK OF HORRORS by Stephen Jones and hopefully learn to sleep with my light off 😉
This week I started to read HEART SHAPED BOX by Joe Hill. So far I’m no enjoying it very much. It doesn’t seem to be grabbing me as THE STRAIN did. I’ve put it aside for now and hope to pick it back up a bit later. Instead, I began to read one of the e-book prequels to Jocelynn Drake’s upcoming new series, The Asylum Tales. It’s called BRONX. Only 18% of the way through the book, but it seems pretty promising. I also have the second e-book prequel called TRIXIE.
After I’ve finished BRONX, I am planning to start reading CURE by Belinda S Frish. Then I hope to read ZOMBIE GAMES by Kristen Middleton and ZOMBIE BATTLE: THE OUTBREAK by Jacqueline Druga.
My Book buying ban has been really good this week, but I did download a few ARC’s this week. I downloaded SEDUCED BY A PIRATE by Eloisa James, GILDED by Karina Cooper, an anthology called THE LADY MOST WILLING and SKIES OF STEEL by Zoe Archer.
This week was a bit slow on the reading front for me although I did get a few in. I read two of the books I am going to read for our All Hallows Eve 2012 event, including THE DONORS by Jeffrey Wilson and re-read DEAD MANN WALKING by Stefan Petrucha. I love the Hessius Mann series by Petrucha and was really excited to get an early copy of DEAD MANN RUNNING, which I will also be reviewing. Lucky me!
Other than that I still haven’t finished ROOK or even started HONOR OF ASHES… hopefully next week (she says again).
Things have been rather manic with me for the past few weeks. I have started back to work, had the kids back to school, and have had training upon training upon training! Which hasn’t left me with an awful lot of room for reading Add to that the book I was working on was just ok really hasn’t helped to increase my reading pace, so I have only managed to read one book over the past few weeks. MARK OF THE WITCH by Maggie Shayne was something I had rather been looking forward to reading. It was an ok sort of book, but rather meandered along. I enjoyed the characters, and the chemistry but there was something… not sure what yet… that just stopped me from getting completely drawn in to the story. Perhaps when I have stopped and thought about it thoroughly for my review it will all become clearer!
I am currently reading THE PERFECT PLAY by Jaci Burton, which has been recommended to me by Gemma, and I have to say that so far I am LOVING it!! It almost made me late for work this morning! Oops!
