LAURA’S ROUNDUP
This week, after finishing ONCE UPON A NIGHTMARE (review), I have been reading the last of my horror books for ALL HALLOWS EVE, which is 33A.D. by David McAfee. It is an unusual vampire novel set in Jerusalem in the time of Jesus Christ, rewriting the lead up to his crucifixion and very cleverly done too.
I’m not sure what I’m going to read next, I have to admit I’m a little horror-ed out and quite fancy something lighter and I definitely need a happy ending! So I think it will be a PNR. I’m tempted by MAGIC SLAYS by Ilona Andrews to try and catch up with the Kate Daniels series. I also have HER FEARFUL SYMMETRY to read in preparation for a joint review with Melanie.
I downloaded a couple of Amazon cheapies onto my Kindle this week, a novella by Christina Courtenay – MARRY IN HASTE, and indulged my love of time travel romances by getting DAUGHTER OF TIME by Sarah Woodbury.

MELANIE’S ROUNDUP
This week was low on books but high on intense reading. I managed to only get through two books this week including DOUBLE DEAD by Chuck Wendig which I will be reviewing as part of All Hallows Eve, and RAPTURE by Kameron Hurley. The one I enjoyed the most was RAPTURE which is the third installment of the Bel Apocrypha series. Hurley delivers another exceptional tale set in the strange post apocolyptic/scifi/fantasy mash-up world. Nyx the former bel dame is back again with a mission into the desert to find her former mentor Raine, the same one she thought was long dead. Most of my other favourite characters are back (who haven’t already been killed) including Rhys and Eshe. While I can say that this is the book I enjoyed the most, I only mean it if you can count a book that is harrowing and horrific in places, enjoyable. Hurley has a stupendous imagination which is evident in this bug fuelled world where different sorts of creepy crawlies do everything from power your car, to re-grow your skin, to kill your enemies. If you are looking for a gritty, violent, mind boggling read then get the series… starting with God’s War. This is definitely a 5 star read!
Enjoy… in that bug filled, blood and guts kind of way!

BECS’S ROUNDUP
Oh dear, this is my worst week, all year for reading, I’ve not finished or started one book this week, I have had the flu and slept a lot more than usual (I only usually have 4 hours of sleep) and I’m starting to have book withdrawal symptoms. I will make up for it next week by finally reading DEVIL’S BARGAIN by Rachel Caine and ALICE IN ZOMBIELAND by Gena Showalter, both of which I’m desperate to read!
My week gets even more shocking, I haven’t purchased any new books! I did download a Kindle freebie though, FEARLESS by Tawdra Kandle, I have no idea about the book but as it was on offer, I thought I would give it a go.
Finally, I have my tickets sorted for Breaking Dawn Part 2 :D 20+ seats confirmed, T-Shirts printed and husband babysitter booked, watch out Camberley!
