How would I survive a zombie apocalypse?

If we ever truly had a zombie apocalypse, the first thing I would do to survive is to grab my daughter’s metal baseball bat, my husband’s motorcycle helmet, my mountain boots, a flashlight, and a jar of Vick’s vapor run (zombie’s stink!). I’d have to use a bat for my main weapon because the time it would take me to figure out how to use a gun, I’d be craving brains myself. Realistically, my house wouldn’t make the best shelter in a zombie attack, so I’d load up my family into our S.U.V., pack my Kindle, bottled water and whatever non-perishable foods I could get my hands on, and head out of town towards Alaska, where the Grizzlies can help lower the zombie troops. Then, I’d look for an awesome cabin to hideout in near a lake (to fish and use the natural resources), kick the owner’s zombie ass (can I say that?) and wait it out.

THE AUTHOR

I live in Minnesota with my husband Dave and two daughters, Cassie and Allie. I run a small daycare in my home and have to say the children really do inspire me to write. I have always been a “closet writer” and have many unfinished stories that I hope to someday return to. My first published fictional story, Zombie Games (Origins) was written as a tribute to my own family and their compulsion for playing Plants V.S. Zombies. I started imagining what it would be like if zombies did end up at our doorstep and what would happen.

Obviously, I had to add humor to the story because that’s just how I roll. I mean, seriously, life is pretty darn funny at times and why shouldn’t the undead zombies be? I’ve also included characters similar to my own children and husband, which will probably be a huge source of embarrassment for them when they actually read the books someday (especially when the girls are in high school!). My eleven year old, Cassie, does know karate, my daughter Allie is a little princess, and my husband Dave needs to join a support group to help him fight his video game addictions.

THE BOOKS

PUBLISHER: Self-published | RELEASE DATE: | BUY IT: Amazon UK / Amazon US

I just finished the third installment of Zombie Games (3) Dead Endz. This book has a lot of things going on and I think it’s the best in the series so far. I don’t want to give away too much, especially if you haven’t read (Origins) part one or (Running Wild) part two, but the heroes in this story have finally made it to the C.D.C. in Atlanta to try and meet up with their family and friends. Upon arrival they find that the chaos continues and that the zombies aren’t the only dangers lurking in the big city. The game continues with new players, several dangerous adversaries, and more than one princess that now needs saving.

In my “kit” currently is an SKS rifle with scope. most common ammo, low misfire and jam rate. I also have a multitool and a keshop (middle eastern single edged broadsword )

The only weapon I have handy for the zompocalypse is my cane. I don’t drive, so vehicles are pretty much out of the equation I’d have to make do with my cane, and maybe the fire extinguisher.

Helicopter. Why First of all it makes for an easy escape and secondly … when the rotor blades hit the approaching zombies … you get the idea.

I would get a sword that is super sharp because it never runs out of ammo and then a rifle and ammo so that I could pick off the zombies before they get to me. The sword is for when I run out of ammo or some gets past before I can shoot them.

Lots of guns and different weapons. There are so many zombies you need lots of bullets.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway! If I had the coordination, I’d use a kitana/sword like Michon from Walking Dead. Never runs out, quiet and accurate :)

I’ve been reading a lot of zombie books lately so this thought has actually been on my mind. I’d get a rifle with scope, I have a pistol but I would need to stock up on ammo, plus I’d look into some sort of silencer, plus I have several knives, but I need to invest in a big machete!! :)

If money wasn’t a problem: a helicopter (very high speed and easy to navigate) with built in machine guns, explosives, drop bombs, and a couple of small rockets for good measure. And a fridge for perishable food in case I need to stay up there for a while. For good measure, let’s make it both gas and solar powered for added protection lol.

Biological weapon. A virus to kill another Virus nothing more potent than this. A virus that would act on only already infected with the virus.

Oooooh, zombies are fun! Well, in books and movies anyway. I don’t know what I have for a weapon. Maybe a tank? Big enough to fit my family in with plenty of fuel and firepower.

I think I’ll just keep reading about the zombies! Thanks for the offer!

I’m a pretty good shot with a rifle so I would probably have one of those – anything that means I don’t have to get too close!

Machete to cut off loads of zombie heads.

Would a tactical nuke be too extreme?

for up close, a small sword/machete. for far away (preferred method) I would use one of our hunting rifles.

Adam Robinson November 15, 2012 at 2:23 pm

need to be quiet to not attract other zombies so firearms are out. a machete would be the best way to go.

Something similar to a mincing machine! Chop those zombies up….if we herd them in that is

A javelin. One toss — stuck in the head, the zombie’s dead!

Samurai sword – good for close quarters and easier to take the head off than other weapons also it wont run out of bullets

gun because it seems easy to use

Penni November 30, 2012 at 2:26 am

I would have a bayonet on a rifle…that way I can use bullets further away and if they get up close and personal I have another weapon to use!

We had this question during our girls night in. I vowed I wouldn’t use anything with ammo, and so I said a samurai sword. If that wasn’t available then it would have to be a baseball bat.
