This week I have been loving my Christmas books! I know it’s only November, but I don’t care, it’s one of my favourite times of the year! I have finished reading A DARN GOOD COWBOY CHRISTMAS by Carolyn Brown, which as a lovely festive read and I have now started CHRISTMAS EVE AT FRIDAY HARBOUR by Lisa Kleypas. I’ve only just started it, but it’s already hooking me in.
I’m still listening to GRACELING by Kristin Cashore as my audiobook, and I know I have said this for a couple of weeks now, but honestly it’s so good!
I have received two fab reviews books in my postbox this week. First up is DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT book number two in Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. Carolyn and I did a joint review of the first book DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE last year and we both really enjoyed, so really looking forward to picking up that one! And my other book was an audiobook, which is actually a book I mentioned in this week’s Monday Mashup – IN THE TALL GRASS a collaboration between Stephen King and his son Joe Hill.
Well this week has been a big dud, reading wise. I’m not reading as much as I usually do at nights, so have made little headway in THE TAKEN by Vicki Pettersson. I have managed to finish THE FALL at last and have to admit its very different tonally from THE STRAIN. My review is currently WIP for that one. All I will say is I can’t wait to read the last in the trilogy.
I’m still undecided on what I will read next. For some reason I am in that indecisive mood. I may start my Christmas reads, which consist of MISITLETOE COWBOY by Carolyn Brown or A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS by Lori Wild. If you follow me on Twitter, you will find out soon enough.
I haven’t bought any books this week, but I did win one in a Twitter contest, curtesy of Piatkus Entice. They were running a competition for suggestions for erotica mashups of classic books, since JANE EYROTICA by Karena Rose is being released. My winning entry was David Cop-a-Feel. So that was a nice surprise since it was a spur of the moment entry.
Apart from that I have managed to go see SKYFALL. I was less than impressed with the film, but if you want to read more click here.
I’ve had a bit too much fun with Halloween and Bonfire Night this week plus I have been catching up on actually writing my reviews, which still take me longer than reading a book So I have only managed to read OF LIGHT & DARKNESS by Shayne Leighton, review to come shortly.
After many great things said about Kelly Armstrong I have finally bought BITTEN, I have also picked up THE DARK HEROINE, DINNER WITH A VAMPIRE by Abigail Gibbs and PUSHING THE LIMITS by Katie McGarry, all of which I’m looking forward to reading soon. I have also received a couple of new NetGalley titles, HYSTERIA by Megan Miranda and PANTOMIME by Laura Lam.
Next week I will read my Christmas review books starting with VAMPIRE FOR CHRISTMAS by Felicity Heaton, Bah, Humbug by Heather Horrocks and ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU by Lisa Mondello.
Well Halloween is over and I sort of kind of controlled my candy consumption. Mainly because I took the remaining treaties to work. This meant that I was able to get through more books because I wasn’t suffering from a big sugar hangover on Thursday and Friday mornings. Hurrah!
I finished WHISPERS UNDERGROUND by Ben Aaronovitch. It was hilarious and I am going to be reviewing it so stay tuned. I also randomly picked a book of my TBR pile on my Kindle (if you can have a pile on a Kindle) which was ANGELFALL by Susan Ee. What an amazing book. I loved it and I also have the opportunity to review it but not sure when so keep your eye out for it. Its been out for a while so if you haven’t already read it you may want to get buying it because it is AMAZEBALLS (my new favourite word). I have also been knocking off a few books from my ‘to review’ pile including THE AWAKENING by Mary Abshire and ABANDON by Meg Cabot. The fourth instalment of the Charley Davidson books is out FOURTH GRAVE BENEATH MY FEET and I finished it the other day. I think I like the quips at the start of each chapter a bit more than I like the characters but even so it was pretty good. Finally, that naughty Gemma and Carolyn got me buying more ebooks from the Amazon sale on Kindle books and I started to read the HOME IMPROVEMENTS Anthology which I bought last weekend. I also bought THE WRONG GOODBYE by Chris F Holm which is the second in The Collector series which I am hoping to read next week, as well as, THE LEFT HAND OF GOD by Paul Hoffman which I bought purely on impulse. Must stay away from Amazon! Happy reading until next week.
