CAROLYN’S ROUNDUP

This week has been pretty poor with regards to reading. With all the Christmas festivities I just didn’t get enough time to read, especially as I’d finished a really great book (Wallbanger) and needed to choose another. Choosing a book to read is difficult at the best of times, it’s even harder when following a great read, and even more so when I’m busy as I just dilly dally and then end up reading nothing.

I was meant to start SWEET AS SIN by Inez Kelley, but as it sounded as though it could be an intense read, I decided on something a bit lighter so I started SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE (Lucky Harbor #1) by Jill Shalvis Friday and finished it Saturday morning – such an adorable read. I really enjoyed it (so one-clicked the following two books in the series). Review to come.

I’m not sure why, but it seems as though I’m on a contemporary romance kick right now, with my last three books being contemps. I may try an historical romance next, A LADY BY MIDNIGHT by Tessa Dare as I’ve heard great things about this one or stick with contemporary romance and read THE UNIDENTIFIED REDHEAD by Alice Clayton… oh decisions, decisions…

Anyhoo, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Are any of you gearing up for New Year’s Eve parties?

LAURA’S ROUNDUP

I hope that everyone had a fantastic Christmas?! I think that this week I have finally got over my reading slump – hurrah! I have at last finished, four weeks later, EMBRACE THE HIGHLAND WARRIOR by Anita Clenney and am not too far from finishing IMPULSE by Moria Rogers. Which just like the rest of the series if turning out to be a fab read!

Next on my reading list is going to be book number six in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, LOVER ENSHRINED by J.R. Ward. I have become completely smitten with this series and will be reviewing it in its entirety in a couple of months for our BDB event, so watch this space!

I hope everyone got lots of lovely book goodies for Christmas? I actually only got one book for Christmas would you believe? Mind you I do have about a hundred on my shelves waiting to be read, so this is probably a good thing! But the lovely Gemma sent me BLOOD AND FEATHERS by Lou Morgan, which I know was a whooping five star review from her, so I’m looking forward to picking that one up :-)

BECS’S ROUNDUP

I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and I’m currently in Wales spending some quality time with my parents. I’m quite embarrassed to do my roundup this week as yet again I have not managed to read any more books.

I have bought two new books this week, RULING PASSION by Alyxandra Harvey, it’s a compilation of the first three books in the Drake Chronicles Series, a vampire series to add to my TBR pile and PLEASURE UNBOUND: A DEMONICA NOVEL by Larrisa Ione.

I’m really behind on my reviews due to my lack of reading this month and next week I hope to catch up on all my outstanding reading BARELY HUMAN by Trace RilesFANGTABULOUS by Lucienne DiverTHE REBELS OF THE NEW SUN by Michael Kinch and ASHEN WINTER by Mike Mullin. I wish you a happy and prosperous 2013.

MELANIE’S ROUNDUP

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and got lots of cool goodies. Despite it being a holiday and I am commute free I still managed to read a few books.  I started with the novella FORBIDDEN by Kelley Armstrong which featured Clay and Elena. It was quite enjoyable and made me remember that I still haven’t bought 13 yet. It was a toss up whether I bought 13 or the fourth in the House of Commarre series by Kristen PainterOUT FOR BLOOD. I went for the latter and rather regretted it. This is a series where I always wonder why I keep reading it as I don’t enjoy novels where the heroine is just too perfect. I also bought and read SHADOW’S CLAIM by Kresley Cole which is a separate series to the Immortals After Dark but seemed to have a number of the same characters. Confused! I am currently reading another spin off series by Connie Suttle called DEMON LOST. It is OK just quite predictable and again, has a number of the same characters as the Blood Destiny series.

I then found a few freebies and a Kindle book sale on Amazon. Hurrah! So I bought QUESTING BEAST by Ilona Andrews, KNIFE SWORN by Mazarkis WilliamsDARK CRAVING by Donna GrantSEED by Rob Ziegler and finally OSIRIS by E.J.Swift. So instead of knocking a few books off my TBR I have just added more. Groan!! Thats all for me and I hope you have a Happy New Year and happy reading in 2013.
