Happy New Year everyone! May 2013 bring you health, happiness and lots of books! So while I may be over my reading slump, I do seem to be reading slower than my usual rate. I think this is because I’m still not completely over my illness, but I have managed to sneak in some more reading time this week. I managed to finish IMPULSE by Moria Rogers. Not as good as CIPHER, but I think that’s because I loved Kat and Andrew so much.
As predicted I have now moved onto LOVER ENSHRINED by J.R. Ward. I’m so excited to be back with those super sexy Black Dagger Brotherhood boys! This is book number six which is Phury’s book, I’m quite interested to see where this is going to go after the developments in the previous book, especially as it’s also quite evident the Phury is in love with his twin brother’s wife.
For 2013, I need to pull up my reading socks so to speak as I’ve entered myself into the 100 books in a year reading challenge again. After failing dismally last year, I must do better this time. Anyone else joining? 😀
With some Amazon vouchers burning a hole in my pocket, I have bought three books from the 12 Days of Christmas deals on Amazon at a bargain 99p each! They were ANGELFALL by Susan Ee, after Melanie’s review it went straight on my wishlist, TORN by Cat Clarke and BURN MARK by Laura Powell.
I hope you have all recovered from any New Years celebrations, I didn’t get as much reading done this week as I would have liked and still have the same books to read as last week :(.
Happy New Year! I hope you had a great New Year’s Eve and have a few book reading resolutions up your sleeve. I am not very good at resolutions but up to a few challenges on the book reading front so going for our very own Book Chick City’s 100 Books in a Year Reading Challenge, as well as, Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge. If you haven’t joined up its not too late.
Back to work for me means back to dedicated reading time while I commute. If you haven’t already, check out Where We Read and you can see, with a handy map, my journey to and from work and where I spend the majority of my quality reading time. Anyway onto my week of reading. I finished DEMON LOST by Connie Suttle and I don’t think I will continue with the series. Its too much like the Blood Destiny series which I thought went into far too many books and this one has not only most of the same characters but a very similar plot. I did manage to stumble across a steampunk series that my fellow reviewer Rebecca has already reviewed a few books on – The Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carringer. I really enjoy steampunk and I am enjoying this series. The first instalment SOULLESS was hilarious and while book 2 – CHANGELESS had the funniest line in it that I have ever read, it wasn’t as funny overall. I am halfway through book 3 – BLAMELESS (notice the naming convention!!!) and while I am enjoying it slightly more than book 2 the male lead needs a good kicking because he is soo mean to the heroine. I shall don my steel toe boots post haste. I also bought a number of books in the Kindle sale on Amazon including MAGICIAN by Raymond E Feist and TOUCH OF POWER by Maria V Synder. I am sure there are a few more but I think I graciously allowed those to be downloaded onto my husband’s Kindle so that I don’t look like such a book glutton. How self sacrificing am I? I also received THE SCRIVERNERS TALE by Fiona McIntosh from Edelweiss which I am looking forward to. After a few weeks of culling books from my TBR its now back to being packed! I am looking forward to the year ahead reviewing and reading all your lovely comments. Happy reading!
