MONDAY MASHUP: Nipple Clamp Sales Soar, Karen Marie Moning Reveals Burned Book Cover, World War Z Trailer, How Real Men Bake & More!

Welcome to Monday Mashup where we talk about everything and anything we’ve come across around the internets. It could be an interesting article, a book trailer, a fun piece of news we feel you should know about, or maybe a stylish pair of shoes (if Laura has her way!) or something zombie-ish (if Carolyn has her way!). Basically, it’s a bit of a mashup! Enjoy…

Hi everyone, it’s Laura with today’s Monday Mashup. No shoes or handbags this week, but I’ve found some fun things for you never the less! Nipple clamps anyone?
Nipple Clamp Sales Soar, Well, Chest High!
It looks like lots of husbands have got a lot to thank E.L. James for. This week it’s nipple clamps! It seems their popularity has seriously soared since the phenomenal success of the erotic Fifty Shades trilogy, making sex toy retailer Anne Summers’ profits soar, well, chest high, and seeing the sales of nipple clamps increase fifteen-fold. That’s one hell of a lot of nipple clamps!

Keep Calm & Carry a Crossbow
Anyone else love Darryl in The Walking Dead? He’s one of the best characters in my opinion! Here’s a t-shirt I know our Zombie-Queen Carolyn should have in her wardrobe. A crossbow should be in everyone’s zombie-apocalypse prep bag.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Trailer
The wait is nearly over! The UK air date for season 3 of Game of Thrones is the 1st April and here is the trailer! I’m so gutted I don’t have Sky Atlantic and will need to wait for it to be released on DVD.
What To Do With Advanced Reader Copies
I often don’t know what to do with ARCs I’ve received but no longer wish to keep. I absolutely hate the idea of simply recycling books, they’re books and I’d hate to see them all mulched down and made into toilet paper. But I came across this post on YA Highway and here are some great ideas, I don’t read much YA, so donating to a school is probably not right, but there are plenty of ideas listed if you’re not sure what to do with your unwanted copies. My favourite options are donating to a local prison or charity, and I will be having a book clear out soon in order to donate some books to others.

Burned Cover Revealed by Karen Marie Moning
In celebration of St. Patrick’s day this month, Karen Marie Moning posted the new cover for Burned, book number two in her Dani O’Malley series, or seven in the Fever series. What do you think? I think it looks very Shadowfever-esque and I think I preferred the cover for Iced, but it’s still very beautiful. I really must buy and read Iced as I do love Moning’s writing. Unfortunately there’s not a release date for Burned that I could find, so we shall have to wait patiently!

World War Z Trailer
Calling all zombie fans! Max Brooks’ pivotal zombie novel is being transformed Hollywood style and is due to hit cinemas from June this year, starring none other than the rather delicious Brad Pitt. I’ve not read the book myself, but holy crap does the trailer look good!
How Real Men Bake
When I saw this it did make me smile. How many men do you know who would *think* they could do this? Also anyone else thinking, but his dirty shoes are on the counter?!

Thanks for the link about recycling your ARCs.
If people are looking for another option, my friend Lili of Lili’s Reflections (also my co-blogger on Tynga’s Reviews) has a charity project going on right now called Books Change Lives. It’s gathering books (including ARCs) for children in need. It might not help you too much since she isn’t taking adult books but it is an option if you have some books for younger readers kicking around.
