Welcome to Sunday Love-in! This is a new feature where an author shares one of their favourite smexy-time scenes from their latest book, tells us the reason for their choice and then shares the scene with us with a delicious excerpt. Enjoy.

Blood Vine

Blood Vine is about a vampire who has experienced devastating personal loss, and who is trying his damnedest to save his species. On one level it’s about the ancient conflict between Hunters and vampires, which sweeps up the hero and heroine, and also entangles my other favorite sexy couple–Pedro and Lucas. The conflict has driven my hero from his homeland in Croatia, and one of the themes is nostalgia for home. On another level, the story is about two wounded souls with explosive chemistry risking love again.

I love this scene when Andre and Zoey first have sex. Once they realize they have met one year earlier, when Zoey retreated from their possible one-night-stand, they avoid each other for days. Finally, he sets the condition that the only way they can be together is to keep it casual, when he is not even a little bit capable of doing so. At this point, she doesn’t know he is a vampire, and she shows up in his dark cave of an office to agree to his condition.

Zoey studied him for a few moments before she said, “You told me you’d fantasized about us together. The quick…way.” For some reason she didn’t want to say fuck now that she was really going to do it.

“Yes.”

“Show me.”

“Are you sure?”

She was. She nodded.

“Come here.” He didn’t hesitate; in fact, he sounded relieved.

She had worried he would send her away, but she had made the decision for them and he seemed grateful. She came to the side of his desk. He gripped her shoulders and steered her to stand facing the desk. He stood behind her and stepped closer to her body, fitting his thighs against the curve of her ass. Hard already, his erection pressed into the small of her back.

Movement across the room caught her eye. A large mirror hung on the wall opposite the desk, rimmed by a thick gilt frame—another of Andre’s antiques. Even though he was behind her, it afforded her a view of his hands reaching for her breasts and the top of his head as he bent down to put his face next to her hair.

He bit the tendon between her neck and shoulder gently and she gasped, pushing her hips back into him. The feel of his teeth latched onto her neck was the most erotic thing she had ever experienced, and she wanted more.

Amber BelldeneAmber Belldene grew up on the Florida panhandle, swimming with alligators, climbing oak trees and diving for scallops…when she could pull herself away from a book. As a child, she hid her Nancy Drew novels inside the church bulletin and read mysteries during sermons—an irony that is not lost on her when she preaches these days.

Amber is an Episcopal Priest and student of religion. She believes stories are the best way to explore human truths. Some people think it is strange for a minister to write romance, but it is perfectly natural to her, because the human desire for love is at the heart of every romance novel and God made people with that longing. She lives with her husband and two children in San Francisco, California.

Hmm, I think its to do with their charm. & I’m not talking about if they have powers and use them to charm people, I’m talking about a lot of the time they often have a certain manner of acting. Or you know when they accidentally act more human than humans do.

I think vampires are very hot. They are charming, strong, passionate, caring, very good looking and so hot and mysterious. Thanks for the giveaway. Tore923@aol.com

It’s the way they are written that makes them sexy – powerful, loyal & drop dead gorgeous.

I like that they tend to be written as passionate, powerful, and deeply loyal when they fall in love.

Thank you so much for the post and giveaway! I’d very much like to read this story, so fingers crossed. :-)

Best Wishes,
Lindsey V.

Thanks for having Andre and Zoey on the Sunday Love-in ladies! I love this feature and I love Book Chick City! You gals are the best :-)

Lauren, Victoria, Mary and Lindsey–I agree, Vampires do seem more human when they are written well, with the extreme versions of all our strengths and weaknesses. Passionate, charming, loyal, hot–all the ingredients for a great vampire!
